POSITION
About XI MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL of Slavic Music
(15-18 May 2015)
The festival is organized and conducted by: - State budget educational institution of additional education for children of Moscow
“Children's School of Arts named after M.A. Balakirev”;
- Slavic Fund of Russia.
With the support of:
- The Department of Culture of Moscow;
-Embassies of the Republics of Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina in the
Russian Federation;
1. Aims and objectives of the Festival are as follows: - Promotion and popularization of Slavic music among the general population;
- To draw public attention to the culture of the Slavic countries;
- Establishing and developing creative relations with the countries of the Slavic culture;
- Integration of activities of educational institutions, individuals and public organizations in the
study and promotion of Slavic culture; and
- Creation of favorable conditions for realization of creative interchange between the Festival
participants.
2. Conditions of the Festival are as follows: The festival is associated with the celebration of Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture
in Moscow and involves a creative exchange between the Slavic countries. The festival of 2015
is devoted to culture and art of the 4 Slavic countries: Belorussia, Czech Republic, Macedonia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The festival is an amalgamation of several projects: the Competition of Young Musicians,
Young Performers Competition in the field of choreography, Competition of young variety
singers, Correspondence (remote) competition of young performing musicians, Watching of
folk groups, the cycle of concerts and exhibitions, workshops, meetings with outstanding
artists, honored guests of the Festival. For the participants of the festival a cultural program is
organized.
All creative projects are implemented during the Festival from May 15, 2015 to May 18, 2015
at a pre-scheduled time and under specific regulations for each of them.
3. Participants of the festival:
The Competition accepts Participants aged up to and including 25 years. Participants may be
Russian or international foreigners. Participants from all educational backgrounds are accepted
including: Public Schools, Private Schools, Music Schools, Art Schools, University, College
and so on.
4. Festival program: Contest of Young Musicians, organization of the concerts, exhibitions, cultural programs for
participants and guests, meetings in the cultural centers of Slavic countries, round table
meetings for the exchange of teaching experience, master classes with the participation of
prominent artists and distinguished guests of the Festival.

Rules and conditions of the International Contest of Young Musicians for
participants in following nominations:
- Chorus Singing (Competition for both professional artists and amateurs);
- Piano;
- String Orchestral Instruments;
- Instrumental Ensembles and Orchestra (Competition for both professional artists and
amateurs);
- Wind and Percussion Instruments;
- Academic Solo Singing;
- Vocal Ensemble (Competition for both professional artists and amateurs);
- "Balakirev" Folk ensembles and soloists (Competition for both professional artists and
amateurs)
- Folk Instruments;
- Dance choreography (Competition for both professional artists and amateurs);
- Solo-Singing and Vocal Ensemble (Competition for both professional artists and
amateurs);
- Electronic music; and
- Remote (distance) competition for all above music competitions.
The contest is held from 15 May 2015 to 18 May 2015 in Moscow.
Common information.
1. The Contest is held within the bounds of The XI International festival of Slavic
music in Moscow at the hall of the Children's School of Arts named after M.A. Balakirev.
There is one round of competitive listening open to the public.
2. The competition is open to students of all musical schools, boarding schools, students
of colleges, Universities, young musicians up to and including 25 years of age.
3. The calculated average age group is taken from the day of registration on the 15 May
2015.
Contest jury.
1. The contest is assessed by an International Jury.
2. The structure of the jury is nominated by an Organizing Committee festival.
Conditions of Participation.
1. Applications to participate in the competition are accepted until the
11 April 2015. Applications must include the following:
a) application (standard form);
b) copy of birth-certificate or passport;
d) copy of notes of executed work of the Slavic composer.
2. The admission fee should be paid in rubles (cash) at the Children’s Art School named
after M.A. Balakirev according to ruble rate on the day of registration of contest participants in
Moscow.
3. The admission fee is non-refundable in case of approval and refundable in case on
non-approval.
4. Participants must pay all transportation (transfer ticket to Moscow and back), food
and accommodation expenses by themselves,
5. Foreign Citizen Participants who require invitations to Russia must pay an additional
registration fee of 800 rubles (per application).
6. Should the number of Participants to the competition reach capacity prior to the last
date of registration then the Organizational Committee of the festival has the right to cease
accepting Applications prior to the last date of registration.
Procedures of competition.
1. Applications to participate in the competition are accepted until 11 April 2015.
2. Participants are not permitted to change their program. All changes must be made
prior to the 11 April 2015 by 9:00pm (Moscow time). Any program changes must
be made on a new application to the convener of the category.
3. Every Participant will have an opportunity for rehearsal in the audition hall prior to
their category commencing.
4. If Participants require an accompanist the Participant may contact the convener of
the category via email for assistance.
5. If any issues and organizational problems should occur during the competition the
final outcome of the decision is determined by Chairman of the Organizational
Committee of the festival.
6. Decisions made by the jury are final and it cannot be reconsidered.
7. Competitor’s performance times may be either shortened or stopped should the jury
decide to by a majority vote.
8. Winners of the contest are awarded with certificates and souvenirs.
9. In every nomination one “grand prize” may be awarded according of decision of the
contest jury.
10. In every nomination and every age category competitors who take 1st, 2nd, 3rd
place will be awarded the title of Laureate of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree and
competitors who take 4th and 5th place will be awarded to the title of Winner of an
award.
11. Amateurs and musically educated participants are umpired by contest jury idem.
12. Jury also reserves the right to award Participants with special prizes.
13. Winners of the contest will take part in the final concert of The Slavic Musical
International Festival.
14. Organizational Committee of the festival are approved special prizes " Best
Performance Slavic Music" (cash prizes, certificates for free participation in
festivals and competitions abroad, diplomas, concerts in the capital and other cities
of Russia).
15. The Participants winners are awarded with diplomas, cash bonuses, and gifts.
16. Jury also reserves the right to award diplomas "For pedagogical skills " teachers
winners of the festival.
17. Jury also reserves the right to award diplomas "For accompaniment skills."

Program of International Contest of Young Musicians in nomination of
Choral-Singing:
Program that performance must include:
1. National song or work of a composer of one of the Slavic countries: Belarus,
Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia,
Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers
by Belarus, Czech Republic, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. One choral piece written by a Russian composer.
3. One choral piece of Western European music genre or by a composer of the
homeland of that Participant.
Age groups of participants and time of execution of the program:
1st age category (7-9):
Maximum time is up to 10 minutes.
2nd
age category (10-11):
Maximum time is up to 15 minutes.
3rd
age category (12-16):
Maximum time is up to 15 minutes.
4th
age category (17-25)
Maximum time is up to 15 minutes.
Conditions of Participation
1. Applications to participate in the competition are accepted until

a) application (standard form);
b) copy of passport artistic leader (e.g. conductor);
c) list of participants including dates of birth;
d) copy of notes of executed work of the Slavic composer.
2. The admission fee should be paid in rubles (cash) at the Children’s Art
School named after M.A. Balakirev according to ruble rate on the day of registration of
contest participants in Moscow. The registration contribution to participation in
competition makes 4500 rubles for the choir.
3. Foreign Citizen Participants who require invitations to Russia must pay
an additional registration fee of 800 rubles (per application).
Festival Procedures:
1. 17 May 2015 - Choir Competition at the Rachmaninoff Hall of Moscow
Conservatory.
2. The Organizing Committee of the festival does not provide acoustic rehearsal in the
Rachmaninoff Hall of Moscow Conservatory.
3. Order of priorities of the competition is determined by the Organizing Committee of
the festival.
4. 17 May 2015 - Winners of the Contest will take part at the final concert of The
Slavic Musical International Festival.

Conditions of the competition:
The competition is open to students of all musical schools, boarding schools, students of
colleges, Universities, young musicians up to and including 25 years of age.
Program that performance must include:
1. One piece of the composer of one of the Slavic countries: Belarus, Ukraine, Czech
Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech
Republic, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. One piece written by a Russian composer;
3. One piece of West European composer;
However, one of the aforementioned pieces may be an item from a Concert piece or
Sonata, e.g. One Slavic Composer and Sonata; or One Russian Composer and a Concert piece.
Age groups of participants and time of execution of the program:

1st age category (up to 10):
Maximum time is up to 8 minutes.
2nd
age category (11-14):
Maximum time is up to 12 minutes.
3rd
age category (15-19):
Maximum time is up to 20 minutes.

Program that performances must include:

The competition is held in two nominations: “String orchestral instruments (solo)”,
“Instrumental ensemble”.
Nomination: “String orchestral instruments (solo)”
Program that performances must include:
1. One piece of the composer of one of the Slavic countries: Belarus, Ukraine, Czech
Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech
Republic, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. One piece written by a Russian composer;
3. One piece of West European composer;
One of the competitive works must be virtuous and of a high technical difficulty.

Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech

In children's orchestras participation of teachers is allowed but must not comprise of no

Condition of the competition:
The competition is open to students of musical schools, boarding schools, students of
colleges, Universities, young musicians to 25 years.
Nomination: Wind and Percussion Instruments (Solo)
Program that performance must include:
1. One piece of the composer of one of the Slavic countries: Belarus, Ukraine, Czech
Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech
Republic, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2. One piece written by a Russian composer (18th -21st century) or Russian folk piece
in the treatment or arrangement.
Age groups of participants and time of execution of the program.
1st age category (up to 10):
Maximum time is up to 7 minutes.
2nd
age category (11-13):
Maximum time is up to 10 minutes.
3rd
age category (14-17):
Maximum time is up to 15 minutes.
4th
age category (18-25)
Maximum time is up to 20 minutes.

Competitor’s performance times may be either shortened or stopped should the jury
decide to by a majority vote.
The age taken from the calculated average age of the participants.
The calculated average age group is taken from the day of registration on the
15 May 2015.
Conditions of Participation
1. Application to participate in the competition are accepted until 11 April 2015: Until

b) for soloists and ensemble: copy of passport or birth-certificate;
c) copy of notes of executed work of the Slavic composer;
Admission fee:
For soloists: 2000 rub.
For ensembles: 3000 rub.
The admission fee should be paid in rubles (cash) at the Children’s Art School named
after M.A. Balakirev according to ruble rate on the day of registration of contest participants in
Moscow.
Foreign Citizen Participants who require invitations to Russia must pay an additional
registration fee of 800 rubles (per application).
Festival Procedures:
1. Auditions are held in front of a public audience in round one.
2. Order of Participants performances during the competition are determined by the
Organizing Committee of the festival
3. About changes in the program submitted for the competition, to inform the
Organizing Committee festival no later than one month before the festival.
4. Performance schedule will be published in the program and the Festival playbill

Contest jury:
1. The contest is assessed by an International Jury.
2. The structure of the jury is nominated by an Organizing Committee of the festival.
3. Decisions made by the jury are final and it cannot be reconsidered.
4. In every nomination one “grand prize” might be awarded according of decision of the
contest jury.
5. In every nominations and every age categories competitors who take 1st, 2nd, 3rd
place will be awarded to the title of Laureate of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree and competitors who
take 4th and 5th place will be awarded to the title of Winner of an award.
6. Amateurs and musical educated participants are umpired by jury differently.
7. Jury also reserve a right to award with special prizes.
8. Winners of the Contest will take part at the final concert of The Slavic Musical
International Festival.

Program of International Contest of Young Musicians
(Pop Vocal)
Condition of the competition:
Nomination:
1. Pop vocal;
2. Pop Vocal ensembles (small groups up to 10 people);
3. Song of the military-patriotic genre, about Moscow and/or about Russia (solo,
small groups up to 10 people);
4. "Special" (solo);

1st age category (up to 8):

Program that performance must include:
1. For Pop Vocal : must perform 2 different songs (backing tracks may include minimal
backing vocals) (no more than 4 minutes each). One piece by Russian or Soviet author
in Russian language and One song of any choice. Backing vocals can be recorded or
performed "live" (on the application of participant).
2. For Pop Vocal ensembles: must perform 2 different songs (no more than 8 minutes).
One song of Russian or Soviet authors in Russian language and One song of any choice.
Quantity of the vocal ensemble - no more than 10 people. Singing - not less than 2
diffrent vocal groups (e.g. Soprano and Alto; or Soprano and Baritone).
3. Song of the military-patriotic, about Moscow, about Russia must perform 2 different
military-patriotic songs (no more than 4 minutes each).
4. "Special" must perform 2 different songs (no more than 4 minutes each).
a). One song of the composer of one of the Slavic countries: Belarus, Ukraine, Czech
Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina), welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech
Republic, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
b). One song of Russian or Soviet authors in Russian language;
The soundtrack of the participant should be recorded on a flash card or on CD-R-audio
(cda) and speed is below X 16. Participants should provide a duplicate copy of backing
track in the event that one does not work. Each piece must be recorded on a separate
drive or flash card. Not accepted: CD-RW, CD-R in formats other than the cda.
Competitor’s performance times may be either shortened or stopped should the jury
decide to by a majority vote.
The age taken from the calculated average age of the participants.
The calculated average age group is taken from the day of registration on the
15 May 2015.
Festival Procedures:
1. Competitive viewing are held in public in one round in the Grand Concert Hall Art
School named after MA Balakirev in Moscow from 15 to 18 May 2015.
2. The contest is assessed by an International Jury.
3. The structure of the jury is nominated by an Organizing Committee of the
festival.
4. Decisions made by the jury are final and it cannot be reconsidered.
5. Order of Participants performances during the competition are determined by the
Organizing Committee of the festival.
6. Every Participant will have an opportunity for rehearsal in the audition hall prior
to their category commencing.
8. Any accompaniment must be a high quality soundtrack on CD or MD.
9. Performance schedule will be published in the program and the Festival playbill

10. The Organizing Committee shall provide the competitors rehearsal in the Grand
Concert Hall named after MA Balakirev in Moscow.
11. Statements must be accompanied by a high quality soundtrack.
12. About changes in the program submitted for the competition, to inform the
Organizing Committee no later than one month before the festival.
13. Evaluation criteria: voice training, culture scenes, actor's skill, talent, the image,
costume and show.
Conditions of Participation
1. Application to participate in the competition are accepted until 11 April 2015: Until

c) for Ensemble - list of participants with date of birth;
Admission fee:
For Solo “Pop Vocal” – 2500 rub
For Solo “Song of the military-patriotic” – 2000 rub
For “Special” – 2000 rub
For Ensemble (up to 3 people) 3000 rub
For Big Ensemble (from 4 to 10 people) – 3800 rub
For Ensemble “Song of the military-patriotic” (up to 3 people) – 2100 rub
For Ensemble “Song of the military-patriotic” ( from 4 to 10 people) – 2700 rub
The admission fee should be paid in rubles (cash) at the Children’s Art School named
after M.A. Balakirev according to ruble rate on the day of registration of contest participants in
Moscow.
Foreign Citizen Participants who require invitations to Russia must pay an additional
registration fee of 800 rubles (per application).

Program of International Contest of Young Musicians
(Electronic music)
Condition of the competition:
1. Solo playing a musical instrument old-electronic, classical and contemporary
music academic profile, folk music, jazz. Encouraged to use techniques of sound
synthesis and sound engineering effects. You can use the functions «Song» and
«Pad» commensurate own playing.
Use of computers in the preparation of the composition is not allowed.
2. Ensemble playing must be in homogeneous and mixed compositions of
instruments, including vocals. Be sure to use at least one of the electronic musical
instruments. In mixed ensemble synthesis there should be equivalent to other parts,
i.e. greater use of other instruments compared to use of electronic music is
recommended. Number of participants - up to 6 people.

Maximum time is up to 5 minutes.

must perform 2 pieces:
1. Both pieces - Slavic composers (Belarus, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia,
Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina),
welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech Republic, Macedonia and
Bosnia and Herzegovina). Possible selection of folk songs or folk melodies may be transposed
into other keys or other instruments. It is desirable to use the works of different countries.
2. In the category " writing using computer technology " - one piece.
Note: The application must specify the tools, the timing of each piece, nominations for
"Computer arrangement " and " Writing " to indicate the used computer programs .

International Remote Distance Competition of Young Performing Musicians
Participants may participate in competition via weblink or video
Nominations:
- piano;
- string orchestral instruments;
- wind and percussion instruments;
- folk instruments;
- instrumental ensemble;
- orchestra;
- solo singing (academic and folk);
- vocal ensemble;
- choral singing;
- vocal choral ensemble; and
- electronic music.
The program:
1. Piece of a Slavic composer (Belarus, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia,
Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina),
welcomed the execution works of composers by Belarus, Czech Republic, Macedonia and
Bosnia and Herzegovina).
It is possible to perform folk music; also it is allowed to perform pieces in
arrangements.
2. Piece of a Russian or West Europe composer.
Conditions of Participation
1. Application to participate in the competition are accepted until 11 April 2015: Until

a) application (according standard form);
b) copy of passport or birth-certificate;
c) Video of the participant / collective;
d) copy of notes of executed work of the Slavic composer (PDF);
e) scan of application fee;
Video can be sent by mail to the address of Organizing committee of the festival (a
videotape, a DVD disk) or on the Internet (the AVI format file) no later than 11 April 2015.
Video to participate in the competition are accepted until 11 April 2015.
Technical requirements to video:
- Videotape, DVD disk or AVI format with a resolution not below 640 х 480 file;
- For files of the AVI format it is necessary to specify the program in which this file was
coded;
- Audio path: one or two channels, frequency of sampling are 44100 Hz, quality of
record of 16 bits;
- Piece has to be videotaped by one fragment without the installation, one camera, for
performers hands have to be visible.
Festival course:
1. Competition auditions (views) are held on videos.
2. Recordings of the contestants are evaluated by an international jury, which is
formed by the Organizing committee of the festival.
The registration contribution to participation in competition makes 1500 rubles for
all nominations irrespective of number of participants.

application fee with other documents to [email protected]
