Ambrosia Apiaries started six years ago with 100 hives and has worked its way up to a total of 350 hives in the ensuing years. We are located south of Newington, Ontario, in the county of South Stormont. Our honey is available in 18 different locations throughout the local counties. The joys of the job come from keeping the bees alive and healthy - the reward is the sweet delicious raw honey that is produced by them. Ambrosia Apiaries has a variety of flavours of honey as each different type of flower produces an unique taste and colour. The flavours currently available are:

Spring (Dandelion, Raspberry, Dogwood, etc.) Summer (Clovers, Alfalfa, Basswood) Fall (Goldenrod, Parsnip, Aster) Buckwheat

The honey we produce is raw, meaning that it is unpasteurized. After the honey is extracted from the honey combs, it is allowed to settle in holding tanks and after some time, is filtered through cheese cloth into jars. Using this simple method ensures that our honey is as close to being from the comb as possible without actually having to stick your figure into the hive. One of the joys of honey is that it is the only food that will not expire - any honey purchased will last as long as it takes to eat. As honey consists primarily of sugar, it will granulate over time; however, this doesn't mean that it has gone bad – once heat is used to liquefy it, it should remain liquid for months afterwards if stored in room temperature conditions. Honey can be used as more than just a sweetener or food product. Due to its unique properties, it has medicinal uses as well. It can be used on cuts, burns and other skin uses. Because of its natural occurring acidic property it helps heal and prevent infection better than the chemical cream know as Polysporin. When applied to burns, it soothes the pain, helps with the healing process and can reduce the formation of scars.

INTERACTIVE HORSE SIMULATOR

Our simulator is one of two simulators in all of Canada and it is the only dressage model in the country. We are located in Kawartha Lakes, one hour north east of Toronto in south eastern Ontario.

For the past three years, it has been an honour to watch so many riders grow and improve their riding on the simulator and hear their success stories with their real horses. The simulator is not to replace our real horses but to help enhance our riding abilities and our partnership. Our coaches bring a great deal of knowledge, are very enthusiastic and make the lessons fun and a great learning experience. We have many clients who have come and worked hard at their riding from all across Ontario, the U.S. and Manitoba. Some of our far away clients return each summer hoping to see an improvement in their riding skills and work on something new! Our furthest client even comes from Switzerland!

Roozaro Farm is a tranquil piece of heaven with our family of six beautiful horses. Not only are we home to the Interactive Simulator but also to Healing in Harmony with Horses which offers a unique approach to Equine Therapy. Our program is run by Susan, a registered social worker and therapist, who has 30 years’ experience working with individuals and families. She is also a certified advanced equine experiential practitioner (F.E.E.L).

EasyCare is all about the horse and their human partners. Our business is manufacturing and distributing proven equine products that will enhance performance, provide protection, increase comfort for the horse and rider, and enrich the overall human-horse experience. Throughout five thousand years of domestication, the horse has had a more significant impact on human history than any other animal. Our goal is to help make the future of the horse/rider relationship as fulfilling and exciting as the past. What began in 1970 with the invention of the first Easyboot by Dr. Neel Glass to help a beloved family horse suffering from navicular disease, has since evolved into an entire line of hoof boots that provide an excellent alternative to iron shoes. This is due in part to the dedication, desire and diligence on the part of an incredible team of people. We're a company that cares deeply about horses and we will continue to develop products that provide comfort, support and performance for our equine partners. We are more committed than ever to continue to create innovative hoof boot designs with features and options that will allow horse owners to provide a natural hoofcare solution for their horses.

NLE-Port Lewis Saddle Pad System

If your saddle does not fit, it is costly to change it or have it adjusted. Do you buy shoes that you have not walked in – at least in the store? Putting weight in the shoe and moving in it reveal pressure points that you do not feel when you are sitting down. The same thing happens with a saddle – with no weight and no movement, the saddle seems to fit perfectly. Put weight in the saddle and start riding, and the pressure points show up. The Port Lewis Saddle Fit System is the ONLY system available on the market that can show you where the pressure points are that will hurt your horse and affect his ability to perform. You do not have to change your saddle, or have your saddle adjusted – get a custom made saddle pad that eliminates these pressure points. This saddle pad can be refit as often as you want, for much less cost than having your saddle adjusted, or buying a new saddle. Saddles are tested for fit on the horse, while it is standing still and you are standing beside it. When you are mounted and the horse is in motion, the saddle moves with you and the horse. This is when the problems start, and it is virtually impossible to determine from the ground, what is wrong with the fit. The Port Lewis Saddle Fit System lets you know and understand how your saddle, with you in it, is affecting your horse’s back. This is a revolutionary system designed to be inexpensive and effective. PATRICIA GERMAN & FRANCIS AUDET Patricia and Francis take the time necessary to assess both the horse and rider to find any physical and emotional issues that impact the relationship between the horse and rider. Francis has extensive experience in biomechanics through his years as a massage therapist and his on-going study of osteopathy. He works extensively on the restoration of mobility to anatomical structures, and the free flow and normal functioning of all body tissues. It is a holistic approach to pain relief and improved function. Patricia has completed a certification course in The Emotion Code, a technique for finding and releasing trapped emotions in the body. These trapped emotions can also be a source of pain and difficulty. She has had success with many people, horses and dogs, who demonstrate, with changed behaviour, the power of these techniques. Patricia and Francis work as a team to determine the best course of treatment for a client, including whether or not traditional chiropractic or veterinary help may be the best solution. It is all about producing the best results for each client. We work with equine chiropractors, farriers and vets who are open to new modalities. Patricia and Francis moved to the Smiths Falls region in July 2010, to a facility which is very suited to educating and re-educating horses and their owners/riders. Patricia and Francis have developed a highly synergistic team. Together they can assess a horse, a person and a horse-rider pairing, to help them improve their mutual trust and respect. For the horse and rider, this means significantly increased confidence and therefore, enjoyment.

Manual Practice, Osteopathic Tradition

Intuitive Mind, Practised Hands, Relief for the Body

Osteopathy focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening your muscles, joints, fascia, tendons, ligaments and skeleton – and your organ systems. The aim of this drug-free, non-invasive manual medicine: to positively affect all your body's systems.

An Osteopath, Manual Practice, uses unique manual techniques, and a whole-body approach to health care, restoring proper motion to all parts of the body. They do not concentrate solely on treating the apparent problem area: they restore balance to the whole body.

In particular, it is truly amazing how fascia can stick to itself, a muscle or a bone and cause severe, medically un-diagnosable pain anywhere in the body. Fascia are extensive and connected to all other body tissues. Osteopaths work to release the limiting physical structure so that the body can return to physical correctness. This can include working on organ systems as well. Francis understands movement and performance, having worked for many years with people that have pain, mobility and performance issues. Francis is able to help clients recover mobility and reduce pain significantly. Performance can improve dramatically.

Osteopathy "Osteopathy is a system of drugless healing by which a practitioner, through extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, using appropriate manipulation, aims to adjust structure, so that nature can restore normal condition of function to the body." Osteopathy is a well-established and well-proven profession, founded by Andrew Still, MD in the United States, in 1874, to help people return to a better state of health. This is done by restoring motion to all parts of the body, easing strain and reducing pain and inflammation. When the body is more at ease, it can heal better and faster. Osteopathy focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening your muscles and your musculoskeletal framework — your joints, muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and skeleton. The aim of this drug-free, non-invasive manual medicine: to positively affect all your body's systems. Osteopathic practitioners use unique manual techniques, including fascialogy and somatherapy, a whole-body approach to health care, restoring proper motion to all parts of the body. They do not concentrate solely on treating the apparent problem area: they restore balance to the whole body. Fascialogy Leonardo Da Vinci knew about the fascial network of the body. Before him Juan Valverde de Amusco, in the mid 1500s drew a picture

of a man holding his skin and it looks much like what the fascial network would look like. In the 1890s, Andrew Still, MD, (1828 – 1917) the founder of Osteopathy over 100 years ago, wrote and taught about fascia and its importance in the proper functioning of the body. Fascia are thin but extremely strong interconnected tissues that envelope all the cells and organs of the body, as sacs around the lungs and heart and bones and digestive system to sacs around all the muscles. When it is healthy and functioning properly the body functions properly. When the fascia are stuck to each other or to other cells in the body, the results can be severe and far ranging: pain, acute and chronic, and diseases that western medicine cannot seem to diagnose and cure. Fascialogy is the study of the cobweb-strong bands of tissue that surround every structure and micro-structure in the body: nerves, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and organs, including the brain, heart, lungs, digestive system, bowels, eyes, ears, jaw, cranium, and urinary tract. Fascia are responsible for keeping all the tissues in the body moving smoothly, lubricating them, nourishing them and supporting them. When fascia have adhesions (are stuck) to other tissues, the smooth functioning of the body is disrupted. Adhesions are fibrous bands that form between tissues and organs, often as a result of injury. They may be thought of as small ropes between tissues not normally connected. They may take some time to be apparent after the initial injury as they continue to expand to the

point of reducing function between the tissues, resulting in pain. Treatment involves more advanced use of normalization, throughout the body. Somatherapy Somatherapy is the study of the physical structures of the body and how to bring them back into alignment. These structures are the bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles. Treatment involves pumping and normalization, with the objective of returning the structure to proper hydration and thus improving mobility and range of motion. Pumping is, in general, a gentle compression and release of the joint to draw fluids to the joint. This re-hydration of the joint promotes joint mobility and range of motion, reducing or eliminating pain. Normalization is, in general, a stretch of the structure (ligament, tendon, muscle), releasing one end of the structure and then the other to create a wave motion in the structure to release adhesions and to hydrate the structure.
