He is a business systems coach and certified as a Lean Six Sig-ma Black Belt. Rick has a BS in Industrial Engineering and an MS in Quantitative Business from the University of Miami in Florida. He has earned the Certified Pur-chasing Manager credential and is a registered Profes-sional Engineer. Most currently Rick was appointed as the Membership Chair of the ASQ Innovation Division at the international level. Presentation Topic: A New Approach to Lean ISO 9000 – 2015 Implementation This presentation will discuss how a South Florida com-pany attained a totally clean audit, with no findings, and certification in the latest version of the ISO standard by using Lean concepts implemented within the ISO 9000 - 2015 structure. The lean approach resulted in a rare outcome where the Certifying Body could not find any-thing to write up because the internal systems of the company had previously identified all areas for improve-ment and potential corrective actions. Actions had al-ready been started to address these. The unique benefits to this trademarked approach is that the company works first at creating the management system, implementing Lean concepts, integrating it with the ISO require-ments, and attaining improved objective and measurable results aligned to the organizational vision, strategy, objectives, and values.
