2016 Conference Edition
Dear Colleagues in World Language Education,
Since 1993 LFLTA has shaped who I am and I am so thankful to be a part of this
excellent organization. Now it’s our 50th anniversary and we’re coming back to
where it all began in 1966, Baton Rouge. We invite you to participate in this
unique professional development opportunity that brings together ALL world
language communities:
- Elementary and Secondary Foreign Language Education
- Foreign Language Departments in Higher Education
- Immersion Education
In this newsletter you will find the Conference at a Glance that lists all of the
wonderful events offered in January. Thank you to ALL of our presenters! We so
appreciate you sharing your ideas, your successes, and your growth experiences!
We are excited to welcome so many exhibitors to this year’s conference. We
encourage you to take advantage of the exhibit breaks and explore the wide variety
of amenities our exhibitors offer.
We are proud to include two new opportunities to network with others Friday
night. This year we will have a “Meet the Board” followed by a movie night
offered in the Marriott Hotel. Come meet leaders in World Language Education
including national leaders like David Jahner, Executive Director of SCOLT, and
Toni Theisen, 2013 ACTFL President and 2009 ACTFL Teacher of the Year.
Whether you choose to hang out at the hotel, or coordinate something with the
Welcome Hostess, Baton Rouge promises a fun time… Come for the excitement
and comradery of networking with likeminded professionals and leave with new
ideas, new products and new friends.
If you haven’t yet registered for the pre-conference, conference, or hotel, then
please do so right away to secure the best prices. I can’t wait to see you in January!
