Exalted Ruler’s Message

W ell, another month has

passed us by and

hopefully this month old

Punxsutawney Phil does not

see his shadow because I'm

sick of this winter. Thankfully

day light savings is only about

a month away. We have quite

a few great dinners this up-

coming month and breakfasts

too so be sure to check the

calendar of upcoming events.

During the meeting of Feb-

ruary 12th, not only will be

balloting on our new mem-

bers, we’ll also have our nom-

ination of officers for next

lodge year. Keep in mind,

any member in good standing

can be nominated. The meet-

ing of February 26th is the

election of officers, and initia-

tion of those who were favor-

ably balloted.

It is also my distinct pleas-

ure to announce those mem-

bers receiving awards from

the lodge for their dedication

and volunteerism to the

Lodge. Mind you, one of the

largest challenges my fellow

officers face is selecting only a

few members out of all the

volunteers we have in the

Lodge. We wish we could

provide an award for each of

you. With this being stated,

our Elk of the Year for the

Lodge Year 2013-2014 is

Louise Beeghly and the Of-

ficer of the Year is Ken Mac-

Murtry. Additionally the fol-

lowing two members will be

receiving GER Special Com-

mendation Award for out-

standing members: Sherry

Perleoni, and Jeannine

Draghi. Finally, our Citizen of

the Year award is being pre-

sented to David Poulin!

Thank you all!

Elk of the Month

Jerome “Jerry” Looby

Jerry (and his wife Barbara)

recently came to the rescue of

the breakfast committee sup-

porting them when they were

short-handed. Although they

showed up to eat they did not

hesitatye to roll up their

sleeves and jumped right in.

This alone is not why he is

being awarded Elk of the

Month as you can find him at

the lodge many days assisting

the secretary in sending out

dues notices, etc.

Fraternally,

John Gilnack

From the Secretary’s Desk Due to the snow storm of January 21st, in-

vestigations were not held and, therefore

investigation and initiation have been

pushed forward two weeks. Investigations

will be February 11th, balloting at the

meeting of the 12th, with initiation on the

26th.

Members who have not paid have received their passed

due notices and I’m happy to report several members have

paid. Additionally, I’d also like to thank those members

who had paid their dues, but were somehow overlooked in

the process, but was eventually rectified.

On Monday, February 17th (President’s Day) I will be

producing next year’s dues mailing, and would ask for any-

one who may be available to meet at the Lodge around

10:00AM to stuff envelopes, etc.

Finally, the meeting of February 12th will be nomination

of officers with February 26th reserved for election of offic-

ers. All members in good standing are eligible to be nomi-

nated and elected.

Golf Tournament Meeting Believe it or not, it’s that time of year for us to

begin the process of putting together the tour-

nament. It is scheduled for September 15,

2014, which is only 8 short months away.

Monthly meetings will begin on February

19th at the Lodge at approximately 6:30PM. In Tom’s ab-

sence (our fearless leader is braving the winter in Florida),

I’d like to ask everyone and anyone interested in helping to

attend this meeting. I would like to begin getting sub-

committee’s together, and the leader of those sub-

committees. Initially our focus will be “pounding the pave-

ment” for hole sponsors, price settings, etc.
