The Constitution was written because the original Articles of Confederation failed to turn the colonies into a nation. Under the Articles of Confederation the states had

their own sovereignty, freedom and independence from each other and from a

federal government. States were free to issue their own money, fix their own tariffs,

and maintain their own militia.

WHY WAS IT WRITTEN?

Page 5: The united states constitution !

After the Revolutionary War weakened America, the Continental Congress

created the Articles of Confederation, but left out a lot of things. So they

made the constitution because of all the thing they had left out.

WHAT ARE ITS LIMITATIONS?

Page 10: The united states constitution !

• I would not change anything in it, I think the way it is setup is very fair. I don’t think there is any major problems with it, and it is a well

working way to run our government.

HOW WOULD I IMPROVE THE US CONSTITUTION?

Page 11: The united states constitution !

• I do think that it is still relevant today. We still have to follow those laws. They are very

essential to our government and life today. So I think it will always be as important as it was

back then, no matter what. Those guidelines are very important to keep out country running

smooth like it is.

DO YOU FEEL IT IS AS RELEVANT TODAY AS IT WAS WHEN THE CONSTITUTION

WAS FIRST CREATED?
