Created in the Image of God
On day one of the Adult Bible Study Class discussion of the book ‘Conversations with God’, by Neale Donald Walsch, we talked about the theory that we being made ‘in the image of God’ (Genesis 1:27) might not mean we look like God, or share similar qualities of God, or are simply related to God. Instead, being made in God’s image may mean we are A PART of God. A part of God dwells in us, making us HOLY.
YOU are HOLY. Even with all your short-comings and imperfec-tions. God made you. God made you out of God-self and called you ‘good’. You are made of the same stuff as God.
What if we believed that? About ourselves. About others. If we did, we’d have a much better view of humanity. If everyone believed that, we’d treat each other differently. We’d treat each other BETTER.
Let’s live as if we matter, as if everyone matters. Let’s live as if we are ALL HOLY.
Only then will we truly understand and live the amazing love of God.
Peace,
Pastor Amanda

PRAYER FOR FEBRUARY
Lord … remind us today that You have shown us what is good in what You require of us; to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. We ask that as a people, we may humble ourselves before You and seek Your will for our lives and for this great nation. Help us in our nation to work as never before to strengthen our families and to give our children hope and a moral foundation for the future. So may our desire be to serve You, and in so doing, serve one another. This we pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Billy Graham’s Inaugural Prayer – 1997

AD COUNCIL NEWS
Highlights from the January 2018 Ad Council meeting.
FINANCE: We ended 2017 in approximately the same cash position as we start-
ed for General Operating funds. Rebirth & Renewal funds were spent for the
driveway resurface and tree removal. Expenditures (less R&R) equaled total giv-
ing. We were only able to pay 18% of our Shared Ministry in 2017. The 2018 first
quarter projections for giving and expenditures show that the cash reserve in the
operating account of $11,000.00 at the end of 2017 will be reduced by
$7,500.00. We are projecting that expenditures will be $7,500.00 more than giv-
ing in January, February and March. You can help in making sure this DOESN’T
happen by keeping your giving up to date! Please consider giving REGULARLY
and 2018 will be a better year!
FUNDRAISING— Though we took a break in January, the committee is looking
forward to more future fundraisers! There will be a fundraising meeting on Feb-
ruary 4th, for those interested in attending.
STEWARDSHIP—We are pleased to announce Jill Downing has agreed to take on
this important role in our church!
TRUSTEES— Memorial Hall may be rented for dance classes one day/night per
week in the near future.
YOUTH GROUP— The Youth Group is planning an “Escape Room” outing.

WELCOME
The United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor is a community of faith-filled friends who seek to grow closer to God through the ministry of Jesus Christ and by the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. We celebrate the history of Mount Tabor, and look with hope toward the future. Everyone is welcome here; everyone is cherished here; for everyone is a child of God. All are welcome to participate with us in our journey of faith, regardless of back-
ground, theological stance, or personal characteristics. We rejoice in God creating us to be a diverse family; and we strive to follow the Spirit’s leading as one, while maintaining and upholding our individuality. Because of the current official stance of The United Methodist
Church, we feel it is important to state a welcome to those of all sexual orientations and gender identities—You are welcome here.
God loves you just the way you are; and so do we.
