Organization of American States What are the advantages of

this Mechanism?

Allows countries to express their actual priorities

Encourages countries to identify and share experiences of success and failure, and

learn from them

Page 18: The Unit for Social Development and Education

Organization of American States What are the advantages of

this Mechanism?

All participating countries can simultaneously be the “sharer” and the “shared with.”

Not only the country soliciting assistance receives a better understanding of the lessons

learned, but the coordinating country is also able to reflect upon its own evolution process.

By so doing, countries can incorporate the useful technique of self-assessment into their

institutional functioning.
