Welcome to Bespoked Bristol - The UK Handmade Bicycle Show
A celebration of the handmade bicycle industry.
It’s a very exciting time for frame building at the moment. The depth of talent and level of enthusiasm is quite astonishing. The craftsmanship on display here is amongst the best in the world.
The people who make these wonderful bicycles are the people you will meet and talk with at the show. They are the ones with the skills to tailor a bicycle to meet your requirements to make the bike of your dreams. We have asked some of these talented individuals to combine their skills to make a bicycle live at the show for one very lucky person. Watching a true master at work is a sight to behold and we hope that this event helps give insight into what makes the bicycles on display here such special machines.
We would like to thank everyone who has attended and all those exhibiting for making this year’s show happen. Our thanks go to all who have contributed to the Live Frambuild.

Since we opened our doors in Spring 2009, we have built over 500 bikes for our very satis!ed customers. All our frames are hand-built in the UK using British steel. At 14 Bike Co, we don’t simply put you on a bike – we build a bike for you. We start by measuring for the right size frame. If we have the correct frame in stock, then we can move on to the next stage. If we don’t, then we’ll build one especially.

18Bikes have been producing custom frames in the Peak District since 2006. We design and make frames one at a time to ensure we create the best frame possible. We use the most appropriate materials and manufacturing techniques and can design and build any style of frame. We are best known for mountain bike hardtails using Reynolds 853, but the bikes we are bringing to this years show will demonstrate how versatile we are. Expect road bikes, lugs, stainless steel, !llet brazing and even aluminium.

Bike Science was established in March 2010 by Andy Sexton. Andy has over twenty !ve years of competitive biking experience and over twenty years as a triathlete. While working at Planet X he identi!ed the need to be able to o"er accurate, professional bike !tting services to riders wishing to buy bikes without being able to try the actual bike for size !rst and riders wishing to optimise their riding position to increase performance, avoid injury or improve comfort. He started Bike Science with these aims in mind.

Over almost a century and a half, Brooks England has grown from a small workshop to a byword in quality craftsmanship. Back in 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket. On 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks !led his !rst saddle patent. Inspired by the timeless products designed by our predecessors, we have revived the original slogan ‘Saddles, Bags, Etc’ and introduced a range of cycle bags and other cycling accessories.

Begun as the dream of a former courier, Brick Lane Bikes is one of the Uk’s most notorious !xed gear specialist bike shops. They o"er a huge range of vintage and new components from their own in house range as well distributing the products from US hand made giants such as Phil Wood, Paul Components, Aerospoke, Holdfast and Velocity Wheels. With an international reputation for the quality of their hand made wheels and their made in the EU La Piovra range of custom frames there is little that the small East London shop doesn’t o"er.

Brompton Bicycle designs and manufactures the famous Brompton folding bike, a bike that marries the performance of a full-sized, agile bicycle with the convenience of a truly portable and storable package. Finely-engineered and elegant, the Brompton has a full-sized frame, made mainly of steel for strength and sti"ness. All of our bikes are made bespoke to order, with many millions of permutations available. And the bikes are no more unique than their manufacture – since Andrew Ritchie invented the Brompton in his #at overlooking the Brompton Oratory, every Brompton is still hand brazed and built in London.

Cherubim Cycles are hand built in Tokyo, Japan by master frame builder Shin-Ichi Konno. Shin-Ichi is from a family of frame builders, his father started Cherubim in 1965 and was the head builder for over thirty years, his uncle’s started the famous 3Rensho & Miyuki brands. Cherubim is now the only one of these brands remaining.

London based Condor Cycles with its store on the Gray’s Inn Road has been serving London’s cycling community since 1948. Each frame in the Condor range is now hand built at their factory in Italy. Despite Condor having strong ties with the racing scene, the range includes bicycle frames for commuting, touring and track made from steel, aluminium, titanium and carbon. Condor is a family run business and continues the ethos that there should be no compromise between performance, quality construction, beautiful ride and style.

The story of the most famous steel tubes in the history of cycling began in 1919 when A.L. Colombo founded his steel plant with the ambition to “to do business in iron and steel and make a fair and honest pro!t”. Reynolds invented tube butting in 1898 – to reduce weight safely. This mechanical engineering process is still used over 114 years later in lightweight bike frames. Reynolds was the !rst to introduce 531, a highly alloyed steel in 1935, and the !rst heat-treated steel (753) to the industry in 1976. Remaining innovative, we also use 3-2.5 and 6-4 titanium, hydroformed aluminium, air-hardening 631 and 853, and maraging stainless steel (Reynolds 953 – currently the strongest tube-set available to builders).

Having a passion for using natural materials, working as a bicycle mechanic and a love of cycling, has led me to making Boocycles. Bamboo bikes are becoming increasingly popular. A genuine, grass-roots family a"air! DMO stands for ‘Dennis Michael Oliver’, Dennis is Oliver’s Granddad (a retired fabricator and sheet metal worker from Jaguar), Michael is Oliver’s Dad (a retired engineer from BMW) and Oliver is, well, the guy who sticks all the bits together! The frames are manufactured in Olly’s workshop in Chippenham Wiltshire (his own words) “I say workshop – it’s a brick built 8’x6’ shed I like to call a workshop”). Olly’s target is to make 10 frames a year, initially focusing on completely bespoke (no lugs or pre-bent, o" the shelf tubing) 29’er mountain bike frames aimed at mountain bikers interested in extending those single day rides into Bike Packing adventures! For the uninitiated, Bike Packing entails strapping all your kit onto a bike for one, two or more nights out in the wilderness!
