Sparks The UC Berkeley School of Law and Boston University School of Law are pleased to announce their sponsorship of Fundamentals of Banking Law (formerly Banking Law Basics), an intensive 2 ½ day program designed to familiarize parcipants with the basics of banking law, including the crical policies, concepts and regulaons that have shaped 150 years of banking law from the passage of the 1863 Naonal Bank Act to the present. Aend this program to learn about: The structure and purpose of bank regulaon Understanding banks as chartered enes, and enes chartered by the federal government The impact of the Dodd-Frank Act on banks and financial services companies The Basel capital rules Prudenal limitaons, including affiliate rules, loans to one-borrower and loans to insiders Permied investments and acvies of banks, bank holding companies, and financial holding companies Insurance, securies, and capital market acvies, including derivave and swap acvies, of banks and bank affiliates FDIC deposit insurance and bank failures Supervision, examinaon and enforcement by banking regulators and the expansion of government agencies addressing the pracces of banking organizaons. This course is a comprehensive introducon to banking law regulaon for aorneys, regulatory staff, bank and compliance professionals, and consultants who intend to work in the field. The program will offer up to 19 hours of CLE, including at least one-hour segment on ethical consideraons in represenng regulated banking organizaons.
