Have you ever dreamed of going to space, well

some people have. NASA began developing the

space shuttle in 1968 and finally completed it in

1981. The space shuttle is a partly-reusable

crewed spacecraft, operated by NASA. Four fully

operational orbiters were originally built: Colum-

bia, Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis. Of these,

Challenger and Columbia were lost in mission ac-

cidents in 1986 and 2003, in which a total of four-

teen astronauts were killed. A fifth operational or-

biter, Endeavour, was built in 1991 to replace

Challenger. The Space Shuttle was retired from

service upon the conclusion of Atlantis' final flight

on July 21, 2011. NASA's shuttle fleet: Columbia,

Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour --

flew a total of 135 missions.

“I’m so

bored” said

Yossi for

the a mil-

lionth time.

“I know”!

Yitzi, Yossi’s

twin brother

shouted,

“Rosh Hashana is coming up, so let’s

make a Rosh Hashana club house”.

“Great idea” exclaimed Yossi, “Let’s get

started”! ...

After Yitzi and Yossi called their friends,

Shimi and Dovi to come over. Yitzi and

Yossi got a paper and pen, and started

writing down their plans. Just then the

doorbell rang, and in walked Shimi and

Dovi.

They all sat down on the couch. “So why

did you call us to come?” asked Dovi.

Yossi explained to them their idea.

“Wow! What a great idea…” exclaimed

Shimi. But then he stopped “…but how

are we going to get wood and screws to

make a clubhouse?” he asked.

“Everyone became silent; suddenly Yitzi

said “I know! On Broom Street, they

keep scraps of wood In the back of a

small furniture store!” Everything was

settled and they were ready to start

their club. “Okay, let Operation Rosh

Hashana begin!” Dovi announced.

They headed towards the furniture store

on Broom Street, and sure enough, in

the back of the store, there was big pile

of wood. They collected a bunch of old

boards, a broken door handle, and a

couple of nails. Then they went back to

Yitzi and Yossi’s house to build the club

house. They all went to the corner of

the yard, and started building.

“Aha,” said Shimi, “finished at last.”

Well, Rosh Hashana passed and the club

is fading away, but Yossi has an idea to

get the club going again. One day he

called a meeting at his house.

“Meeting begins” Yossi announced in his

most business-like voice. “Why did you

call us here”, Shimi interrupted. “I had

an idea, let’s make a Yom-Tov club!”

Yossi continued as if no one interrupted

him. “What do you mean a Yom-Tov

club?” asked Yitzi. “Every Yom-Tov we

will get together and have a club”, said

Yossi. “Great idea” Dovi exclaimed.

One day Yossi, Yitzi, Shimi, and Dovi

went on a hike. “Hey what’s that sign”

asked Shimi as he pointed to a sign with

a gun on it. “Oh, that means we’re near

a hunting reserve” replied Yitzi, and

they kept on walking. In the distance

they saw a little ram. “Hey look at that

ram” said Yossi. “Let’s catch it” said

Dovi. “No, it’s happy here” said Shimi.

“But we have to take it home or else the

hunters will get it” said Yossi. “Okay fi-

ne” said Shimi. Dovi tiptoed towards the

ram, and took a rope out of his pocket.

The ram saw Dovi and surprisingly it sat

down calmly. Dovi tied the rope around

its neck in a way that it will not choke it,

and calmly brought back holding the

rope.

When they got home you can imagine

how surprised Yitzi’s mother was when

she saw the ram. They told her the sto-

ry. “I am sorry boys, but you can’t keep

it, I will have to find a farm that will take

it, in the meanwhile keep it in the back-

yard.” she said. They took it to the back-

yard. Suddenly Yitzi said “I have an idea,

shofars are made out of rams horns so

let’s make a shofar!” “Great idea” they

all chorused. “But how are we going to

make it?” asked Shimi. “My father used

to work in a shofar factory and I’ve seen

how they do it” said Dovi.

They got to work, cut off the horns and

started.

The next day it was finally ready.

“Tadah”, said Dovi “it’s finished.” “Let’s

try it” said Shimi. Yossi took it and blew

it. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! It

sounded. “Wow, great,” they all said

together. “Yeah, it sounds pretty good

for a kosher, home-made shofar” said

Dovi. “What do you mean “pretty good”

it’s fantastic!” said Yossi enthusiastical-

ly.

Right after Yom-Kippur, when it was

time to blow the shofar the rabbi in

their shul the rabbi couldn’t find his sho-

far. Yitzi ran home (his house was 4

houses away from the shul) and took

the, you guessed it, their shofar and that

night their shofar was blown in font on

their whole community.

Sukkos was approaching, and everyone

in the Yom-Tov club was excited. It

started one bright early morning when

Shimi went downstairs to eat breakfast.

“Pass the cereal please,” said Shimi to

her younger sister Henny. “Sure” said

Henny as she passed over the box of

Kosher-KoKo Cereal. Shimi poured him-

self a bowl, and glanced at the back of

the box. “BE PART OF OUR RECYCLING

CAMPAIGN AND WIN 4 FREE TRIPS TO

ISRAEL!” It read. Shimi jumped out of his

seat and continued reading; “COLLECT

THE MOST RECYCLING BOTTLES AND

SEND IT IN BY OCTOBER 1st, 2012. SEND

BOTTLES TO: 1638 Waterfall st. “Wow! 4

free trips to Israel! I’ll tell the club about

this and we’ll collect the most bottles

and win the trip to Israel!” Shimi shout-

ed with joy.

Shimi called a club meeting, and told

them his idea. “Wow! Great idea!” They

all chorused.

The next day they were hard at work

collecting bottles and cans from their

houses and put them all into large plas-

tic bags. Then they all met on the corner

of Georgia and Berry street, and went

around collecting bottles. When they

came home they had around 2 garbage

bags full of bottles and cans.

The day before October 1st arrived and

they sent in their cans. A few days later

on the first day of chol hamoed, an en-

velope arrives in the mail from the Ko-

sher KoKo inc.
