A MESSAGE FROM THE LTGI AM SO EXCITED!

Hello everyone! I am TRACY LEE, your DIVISION 10 SOUTH LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR for the 2014-2015 Key Club year. I look forward to serving all the members in the Cali-Nev-Ha District along with all the other LTGs, AKA the Opportuna-bees!

D10S, are you ready? This Key Club year will be FILLED WITH overflowing and never-ending blue turtle SPIRIT! Lots of new events are being planned this year so keep your eyes and ears open for divi-sion updates! Remind your club presidents to let you know about all the fun events that will take place if you do not know what is happening in the division.

Why go to division events? Because you will be able to interact with not only people from your own school, but also from 10 others as well! Best of all, you get to see me! Just kidding (Well, not really since I am going to be at all of the division events anyway). I hope you will not mind having an enthusiastic LTG!

As Lieutenant Governor, my goal is to INCREASE the amount of MEMBER INTERACTION between schools within the division. So please come to the next Di-vision Council Meeting on June 22nd from 1PM to 3PM at Almansor Park. The next big date you should reserve is June 28th for the Officer Training Confer-ence from 10:30AM to 1:30PM. I simply cannot wait to meet everyone!

LA FOOD BANKMay has been a busy month for Mark Keppel Key Clubbers as the new officers transition into their positions. This month our club participated in numerous events such as Monterey Park’s annual Playdays festival, MKHS Science Field Day, Project NEO, Battle of the Bands, and LA Food Bank. At LA Food Bank members had fun bonding and learning about the food bank while sorting out food that would be donated to those in need. Our club was responsible for sorting out the expired food from the good food. Knowing that we would be making a difference in peoples’ lives and combating hunger made this service enjoyable and worthwhile. Our club is now looking forward to a summer filled with services and fun!

At the Garvey Center in Rosemead, Bosco Tech’s Key Club continues to support families af-fected by Multiple Sclerosis at Familia Unida. There, Bosco Tech collaborated with Rosemead High School to help serve food and to socialize with other members of the program. Robert Copado states, “I felt that helping people even though it can be hard, gives a rewarding feeling knowing that you helped someone out. What I learned is how teamwork helps keep things running efficiently.” Bosco Tech will continue to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis by participating in many upcoming events with Familia Unida.

Awards BanquetTo congratulate the members for their hours of service and appreciate all of their hard work throughout the whole year, we held a free semi-formal awards banquet on May 23. It took place in our school’s small gym from 4:30 pm to 7:00pm. Even though the banquet was to congratulate those who finished hours, we decided to open the ceremony to all the Key Club members. At 4:30 pm, we began the ceremony with high spirites and a casual icebreaker called “Baby I Love You”. At 5:00 pm, we officially started our banquet with a warm welcome and a scavenger hunt where the groups of members each received a list of jobs that they had to perform with each old and new club officers. The purpose of the scavenger hunt was to get the members more familiar with our old and new board members. To heighten their spirits, we decided to let the first group who could finish all the jobs on the paper to get in front of the line for foods. By just looking at them having a wonderful dinner with their lovely Key Club friends, we could tell that they enjoyed the banquet a lot. At 6:00 pm, we started giving awards to all the outstanding members to appreciate all their efforts throughout the school year, including certificates for members who completed their hours; awards for the most hours and the most spirited; amazing Key King and Key Queen based on their performances within the club through the year; and awards and appreciation letters to our club advisers, our chaperones at DCON, our old board, and senior members. After the awards, we opened our photo booth to those who wanted to make a few final Key Club memories. We also played music and presented pictures on a slideshow throughout the whole banquet. The banquet officially finished at 7:00 pm.

The overall feeling I had at the end of the banquet was totally amazing and unforgettable. I felt pleasant and wonderful about what we had achieved this year. It is undeniable that the members who came to the banquet felt the same way.
