The Turtle Times Parents/Carers, Today we have celebrated Day for Daniel where students wore red shirts and gave a gold coin donation for the Morcombe Foundation. We had the Morcombe family come and visit Rosebery Primary School a couple of years ago and since then we have been strong supporters of their Foundation which raises awareness for children of the importance of staying safe. The Recognise, React and Report mantra helps kids remember what to do if approached by someone they don’t know or if they feel as though they are in an unsafe situation. We like to add the 4 th R which is RUN to the mix as well. Our Early Years Assembly today focused on this mantra and several classes have been working on remembering how important it is to stay safe at home, school and in the community. If you wish to donate to the Morcombe Foundation visit http://www.danielmorcombe.com.au/ where there is a donate link. As the school year draws to a close we are aware families are leaving and moving interstate, overseas or to other schools. We would like to be well planned for 2016, as you know we are at capacity for intake of new students, so if you are leaving and have not advised Reception please do so as a matter of urgency to assist with our enrolments for 2016. Opportunity: Ms Dannielle Smith our Defence Support Transition Aide is moving to Brisbane as her husband has been posted, so we are looking for a passionate and dynamic self-starter to apply for our DSTA position. If you are interested in applying for this position please provide your letter of introduction and resume to our Business Manager, Marnie Richards so we can consider you for this role in 2016. If we need to go out to advertisement we will but would like to open the position to current families or new parents who may be interested. Please speak to Dannielle Smith in the first instance to find out what the job entails. Today is World Teacher’s Day so I would like to take the opportunity to thank all our dedicated teachers at Rosebery Primary School for their hard work and interest in providing the best possible programs of learning for your children. We will be celebrating this afternoon after school. We are very lucky at Rosebery Primary School as Miss Kimberley Walker has been nominated for two teaching awards this year. The NT Teacher of the Year Award in Early Childhood is announced this afternoon at Parliament House and Kimberley is in the running. She has also been nominated by a parent for a National Teaching Award. We know that she has been short listed from over 1,000 applicants down to 1 in 60 across Australia. This afternoon she will be presented with a trophy and certificate in recognition of this and this puts her in the running to be selected as one of the 35 finalists from across Australia who will be narrowed down further to a group of 12 winners from each state and territory. Let’s hope Kimberley is lucky enough to be selected in this 1 of 12. We won’t know this until the 2016 school year starts. Let’s all wish her luck. This Saturday evening the final Flicnics for 2015 so j oin us at Sanctuary Lakes to see one of the kid’s favourite films ‘Epic’. We, Rosebery Primary School, are hosting the night and running the BBQ stall being cooked by Mr Nathan Barrett. There will be coffee, cake and popcorn for purchase at another stall on the night. Gates open at 6.30pm with the movie starting at 7pm. The category winners of the recently held Palmerston Art Competition will also be announced prior to the screening of the movie. Hope to see you all there. Have a happy and safe weekend. Last Friday Year 1 Chisholm and Hunt had water play as a reward

for good classroom behaviour. We enjoyed a waterslide, sprinklers,

bubbles and buckets of water. It was fun to go back into the Transition

area and use the play ground equipment again also. We also want to

extend a huge thank you to our parent helpers Nicola and Shelly!
