    THE TRUE GODHEAD(2010 Revision)

This is a simplified study with Bible verses and quotes from Ellen G. White on the true Godhead as it is revealed,

about who really is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It also declares what is: the seal of God, proper baptism, the true church of the end time and other topics of interest.

Colossians 2:1-3 For I would have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, andfor as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; that their hearts may be comforted, they being knittogether in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they mayknow themystery of God, even Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.(American Standard Version)

    CLASSES OF GODS CHILDREN

By creation:- Men: Luke 3:38 son of Enos, son of Seth, son of Adam, son of God.- Angels: Job 38:6,7 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning

stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

By adoption:- The pardoned men: 1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should

be called children of God,Galatians 4:5 To redeem those who were under the law, thatwe might receive the adoption as sons.

By birth: Begotten Son, Only Begotten, = ChristMonogenes: Strong's dictionary definition: only born = Only BegottenG3439 monogenesFrom G3441 and G1096; only born, that is, sole: - only (begotten, child).

John 3:16,17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,that whoever believes inHim should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Himmight be saved.

John 1:18No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son,who is in the bosom of the Father,He has declared Him.

Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

John 7:28,29 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye knowwhence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

    John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

John 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shalllive by me.

John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go

    to the Father.

    John 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was comefrom God, and went to God;

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am aking. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witnessunto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.Clarification: It should be noted the order of events described by Jesus. First I was born in heaven of theFather, and then I came to the world. Here he does not refer to his birth on earth; otherwise Jesus wouldsay it in the opposite order: for this I came into the world and I was born.

2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, andpeace, from God the Father, and from the Lord JesusChrist, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

One of the titles given to Christ is Wisdom. Its corroborated in:1 Corinthians 1:24,30 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God,and the wisdom of God.But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, andsanctification, and redemption:

Also, if we compare the texts of Luke 11:49 and Matthew 23:34 we see that Luke says that the Wisdom ofGod is speaking. And in Matthew, he describes that Christ is speaking, and that they both share the sametheme, clearly establishing that Christ is called the Wisdom of God.

    Proverbs 8:22-30 declares that Christ was begotten of the Father before any creation.The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up fromeverlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains.Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made theearth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When heestablished the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea hisdecree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of theearth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing alwaysbefore him;

1 John 5:1,18 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth himthat begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

John 1:1-13 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.The same was in the beginning with God.All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darknesscomprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light That was the true Light, which lightethevery man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.He came unto his own, and his own received him not.But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believeon his name:Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,but ofGod.

Psalms 2:2,7 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together,Against theLORD and against His Anointed, saying,

I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begottenthee.

Hebrews 5:5,8 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him,Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.Though He was a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered.

Isaiah 43:10-12 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye mayknow and believe me, and understand that I am he:before me there was no God formed, neithershall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and

have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

The word Formed" as its defined in the Strongs dictionary:H3335 yatsarProbably identical to H3334 (through the squeezing into shape); (compare H3331); to mould into a form;especially as a potter; figuratively to determine (that is, form a resolution): - X earthen, fashion, form, (-r),frame, make potter, purpose.

A quote from Ellen G. White clarifying Isaiah 43:10 exclusively for Seventh Day Adventist:This Day with God (TDG) (Chap. 3 p.11) The work of every believer is aggressive. It is a daily warfare.Christ is saying: "Ye are my witnesses"(Isaiah 43:10). Think it; speak it; act it. Heaven is just nextdoor. Open the door heavenward and close the door earthward

Clarification: These verses only refer to Christ and say that He is the only-begotten because there was noGod made before him, nor any after him. The Father is not a formed God: He is the eternal, the self-existent One, without beginning.

Zechariah 3:8, 9 behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. For behold the stone that I havelaid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

Branch means a stem or limb growing from the trunk (The Father). Also, notice that the stone isunique (only begotten) and has seven eyes. To know who the stone is and what these seven eyes mean, letscompare it with Acts 4:11 and Revelation 4:6. Then, well see that the stone is Jesus himselfand the 7eyes symbolize His own omnipresence.

John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John 1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King ofIsrael.

John 6:69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and

that believing ye might have life through his name.

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

    Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel ofJesus Christ, the Son of God;

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with himalso freely give us all things?

Hebrews 1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of allthings, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the expressimage of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged

    our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Sonof God, let us hold fast our profession.

John 5:18,23 (ESV) This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he

breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.That all may honor the Son,just as theyhonor the Father.Whoever does not honor the Sondoes not honor the Father who sent him.

1 John 2:22-24 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieththe Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that

acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from thebeginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shallcontinue in the Son, and in the Father.

Clarification:Jesus is eternal, but this doesnt mean that He has no beginning instead it means that He hasno end. Eternal means only without end unless its specified that it is without beginning. For example, thesaved will have eternal life, but they clearly have a beginning. What they will not have is an end. The Fatheris the only Divine being without beginning.

GOD THE FATHER, IS THE FATHER AND HEAD OF CHRIST

Hebrews 1:8-9But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre ofrighteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; thereforeGod, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no

more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name ofthe city of my God, whichis new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my newname.

Jude 3-5Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found itnecessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered tothe saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodlymen, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord JesusChrist. But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out ofthe land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

1 Timothy 6:13-16 I urge you in the sight ofGod who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesuswho witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christs appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor andeverlasting power. Amen.

1 Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him;and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for whichcause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

The version of the Bible The Message express the last text as follow:Hebrews 2:11 Since the One who saves and those who are saved have a common origin, Jesusdoesn't hesitate to treat them as family,

Clarification: the Father is the only true God in the sense that He is the only One that has no beginning andthe only Being that doesnt proceed from anyone. The Father is the only Being that has life and immortalityin Himself; no one gave him life or immortality. The Son of God is also immortal, but He was givenimmortality or life in Himself when he was born of the Father, according to John 5:26.

WHO WAS THE GOD OF THE OLD TESTAMENT?WHO WAS THE ONLY DIVINE BEING WHO REVEALED HIMSELF TO ISRAEL?

Isaiah 45:11,12,15,18 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of thingsto come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. I have made theearth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have Icommanded.Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth andmade it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am theLORD; and there is none else.

John 1:3,10,14All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of theonly begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Colossians 1:16-18 For byhim were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all thingswere created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Romans 3:29,30 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:Seeing it is one (heis) God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision throughfaith.

Clarification: "God is one'', must be understood in the context in which it is found, and has threeapplications:

    - When it refers to Israel before the incarnation of the Son of God, the expression" God is one'' applies only tothe Son of God, who was the only divine being revealed to Israel.

    - When the Son of God incarnated, He came to fulfill His primary mission to reveal His Father, extending theconcept of "God is one'' to the unity of Father and Son (true Deity). Also, when a prophecy speaks about thefuture mentioning the Deity, it is applied to the Father and the Son.

    - When its declared that there is only one Divine Being from whom comes all, a single divine being who isthe source of everything and the only One who had no beginning, then the Greek word "heis'' applies onlyto the Father.

HOW MANY DIVINE BEINGS OR GODS EXIST?

Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists?who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is hisname, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Zechariah 6:12,13 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold theman whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the templeof the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and ruleupon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be betweenthem both.

John 8::16,17 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father thatsent me. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

John 10: 30 I and my Father are one.

1 John 1::1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with theFather, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that yealso may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his SonJesus Christ.

Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon thethrone, and unto the Lamb.

Revelation 14:6,7 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel topreach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: andworship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.Clarification: The first message of the three angels consist of fearing and giving glory to God the Father, and in worshiping the Son of God who is the Creator of all things. There are clearly two divine beings (2Gods) in the message that will be given to the whole world, in which there is not a trinity.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS CHRIST HIMSELF IN HIS OWN SPIRITUAL FORM

    1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man ChristJesus;

Galatians 3:20 Nowa mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

Romans 8:26,34 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray foras we ought:but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the righthand of God,who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 7:22,25 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. Wherefore he is able also tosave them to the uttermosts that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession forthem.

John 14:16-18 [NKJV] And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He mayabide with you forever the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Himnor knows Him;but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave youorphans; I will come to you.

G3875 parakle tosAn intercessor, consoler: - advocate, comforter.

Clarification: The Greek word for Comforter is Parakletos, which also means advocate (lawyer), as itappears in 1 John 2:1 which identifies Jesus as the Parakletos (advocate or comforter).

2 Corinthians 3:17 Nowthe Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exodus 23:20-21 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring theeinto the place which I have prepared.Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for myname is in him.

Isaiah 63:10-14 [MKJV] But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself againstthem as an enemy, And He fought against them. Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying: Where is He who brought them up outof the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,Who ledthem by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make forHimself an everlasting name, Who led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, That they mightnot stumble? As a beast goes down into the valley, and the Spirit of the LORD causes him to rest,so

You lead Your people, To make Yourself a glorious name.

1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock thatfollowed them, and that Rock was Christ.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life.

John 1:1-4, 10 [MKJV] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word wasGod. The same was in the beginning with God.All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him waslife; and the life was the light of men.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

1 Corinthians 15:44-45 [ESV] It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a naturalbody, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being". The last Adam became a life-givingspirit.

1 Peter 1:10-11 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of thegrace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in

themwas indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that wouldfollow.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thyfellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony ofJesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offeredhimselfwithout spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Romans 8:9-10 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Nowifanyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.And if Christ is in you,the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Mark 16:19,20 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven andsat down at the right hand of God.And theywent out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmedthe message by accompanying signs.]]

Clarification: As we read in the KJV the following verses, we notice that the one who is guiding the disciplesis the Holy Spirit.Acts 16:6-7 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, theywere forbidden bythe Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. But if we look at other versions of the Bible to compare to which Spirit it refers in Acts 16:7, we see that thisSpirit is the Spirit of Jesus:Douay-Rheims Bible [DRB] And when they were come into Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia: andthe Spirit of Jesus suffered them not.English Standard Version [ESV] And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.Gods Word [GW] They went to the province of Mysia and tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesuswouldn't allow this.

Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father!

Philippians 1:19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this willturn out for my deliverance,

1 Corinthians 2:11-16 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is inhim? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might knowthe things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which manswisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God,for they are foolishness to him; norcan he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he

himself is rightly judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instructHim? But we have the mind of Christ.

Matthew 11:27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son exceptthe Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills toreveal Him.

Clarification: The only being that knows God the Father is Christ, and only He can reveal the fullness of HisFather. There is no one between the Father and the Son.

Revelation 2:18,29 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, These things says the Son of God,who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass, says: He who has an ear, let him hearwhat the Spirit says to the churches.

Comparing Luke 12:11,12 and Luke 21:12-15 in the first verses it is clear that when we are persecuted, theHoly Spirit will teach us what we should say; and in the last verses, Christ himself tells us thatHe will give us words and wisdom. Thus, the Holy Spirit is no one else but Christ Himself.

WHO IS THAT SPIRIT IMPARTING SPIRITUAL GIFTS TO MAN?

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to oneis given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through thesame Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, toanother the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another differentkinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

    Ephesians 4:7-13 But to each one ofus grace was given according to the measure of Christs gift.Therefore He says: When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.(Now this, He ascendedwhat does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of theearth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that Hemight fill all things.)And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastorsand teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body ofChrist, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God ,to aperfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

Clarification: The Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 is the one spreading all the gifts, He is the same andonly Spirit who does it. However, having evaluated what Paul said in Ephesians, we see that Christ who haddescended to the earth and later to the tomb, is the same that has ascended to heaven. In addition, Paulsays that He ascended to fill everything, and we understand that He does it with his own omnipresent

Spirit. This way Christ imparts gifts to men. To be precise, the Holy Spirit that distributes the gifts is ChristHimself.

THE UNPARDONABLE SIN OR THE SIN AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT

Matthew 12:31,32 Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemyagainst the Spirit will not be forgiven men.Anyone who speaks aword against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him;but whoever speaksagainst the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mark 3:28,29 Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies

they may utter; but hewho blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but issubject to eternal condemnation.

Luke 12:10 And anyone who speaks aword against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but tohim who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.

    www.theeternaltruth.org 2010

    12

Clarification: Exploring the above verses, we see that the forgiven sin is the sin against the Son of man, namely, it is a sin against Christs humanity. This is clear because having they the option to use othernames to refer to Christ, their choose the name Son of Man, precisely to refer to His carnal nature orhumanity. The unpardonable sin is to reject the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This way we are denying the onlyDivine being that can transform us and lead us to the Father. Nevertheless, we have seen that Christ is theone who does all this work since He is the only mediator and only way to God the Father. Separating

ourselves from the only stairs to heaven, we will lose all contact with the True God (the Father) and as aresult we remove all hope and pardon.

    CONTROVERSIAL AND MISUNDERSTOOD VERSES

The verse of Isaiah 48:16 according to King James Version says:Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that itwas, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

A better translation of the verse from Isaiah 48:16 is:

(New International Version) Come near me and listen to this: From the first announcement I have notspoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there. Nowthe Sovereign LORD has sent me,with hisSpirit.

(New Century Version) Come to me and listen to this. From the beginning I have spoken openly. From thetime it began, I was there." Now, the Lord God has sent me with his Spirit.

(World English Bible) "Come near to me and hear this: "From the beginning I have not spoken in secret;from the time that it was, there am I." Nowthe Lord Yahweh has sent me,with his Spirit.

Clarification: The meaning of the text neither is a Trinity, nor refers to it. In the first application which isliteral, the Son of God is speaking and then Cyrus, since Christ sent Cyrus with His Spirit. The servant oranointed whom Jehovah sends has to fulfill His will in Babylon, and conquer the Chaldeans according toIsaiah 48:14. Christ in His first coming did not come to the Chaldeans, but to the people of Israel. Theperson who is sent by God to free His people from Babylon, is Cyrus king of Persia; the scriptures point itout by name in Isaiah 44:28, Isaiah 45:1 and 2 Chronicles 36:22, 23.In the second application of Isaiah 48:16, which is symbolic, the anointed or servant who is sent is Christthe Son of God. He comes to liberate His people from the spiritual Babylon, according to Revelation 18:1-5;there Christ comes with the Spirit and glory of His Father, according to Matthew 16:27, Mark 8:38 andLuke 9:26. In the same manner that the literal Babylon was conquered by 2 kings of the East (the Persianking Cyrus and Darius the Mede), the spiritual Babylon will be defeated by the appearance of the 2 kings ofthe east: the Father and the Son, according to Revelation 16:12.

In addition, the following verses are badly understood, more specifically the verse 17:Revelation 22:16,17 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Rootand the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star. And the Spirit and the bride say,Come! And let him who hears say, Come! And let him who thirstscome. Whoever desires let him take the water of life freely.

Clarification: The verse is not declaring that the Holy Spirit says to Jesus come or come back, as theTrinitarians interpret. What the text is telling us is that the Holy Spirit which is the only husband (Christhimself) with His bride, which are the faithful children who are the obedient to the commandments, (thetrue Church), are making in invitation to every sincere soul who has not yet jointed the body of Christ (Hisbride). This call to drink of the water of life, consequently make themselves as an integral part of the body

    of Christ.

QUOTES OF ELLEN WHITE ON THE APOSTASY OMEGA AND THE SON OF GOD

1SM 42 The testimonies themselves will be the key that will explain the messages given, asscripture is explained by scripture.

1SM 200 In the book Living Temple there is presented the alpha of deadly heresies. The omega willfollow, and will be received by those who are not willing to heed the warning God has given.

1SM 201,202 I have been instructed by the heavenly messenger that some of the reasoning in thebook Living Temple is unsound and that this reasoning would lead astray the minds of those who arenot thoroughly established on the foundation principles of present truth. It introduces that which isnought but speculation in regard to the personality of God and where His presence is. No oneon this earth has a right to speculate on this question. The more fanciful theories are discussed, the lessmen will know of God and of the truth that sanctifies the soul.

1SM 203 Living Temple contains the alpha of these theories. I knew that the omega wouldfollow in a little while; and I trembled for our people. I knew that I must warn our brethren and sistersnot to enter into controversy over the presence and personality of God.The statements made in Living Temple in regard to this point are incorrect. The scripture used tosubstantiate the doctrine set forth there, is scripture misapplied.

1SM 203.204 Few can discern the result of entertaining the sophistries advocated by some at this time. But the Lord has lifted the curtain, and has shown me the result that would follow. The spiritualistictheories regarding the personality of God, followed to their logical conclusion, sweep awaythe whole Christian economy. They estimate as nothing the light that Christ came from heaven to giveJohn to give to His people. They teach that the scenes just before us are not of sufficient importance to begiven special attention. They make of no effect the truth of heavenly origin, and rob the peopleof God of their past experience, giving them instead a false science. In a vision of the night I was shown distinctly that these sentiments have been looked upon by some as thegrand truths that are to be brought in and made prominent at the present time. I was shown a platform, braced by solid timbers--the truths of the Word of God. Some one high in responsibility in themedical work was directing this man and that man to loosen the timbers supporting this platform. Then I heard a voice saying, "Where are the watchmen that ought to be standing on the walls of Zion? Arethey asleep? This foundation was built by the Master Worker, and will stand storm andtempest. Will they permit this man to present doctrines that deny the past experience of the people ofGod? The time has come to take decided action.

8 TESTIMONIES 296, 297 (1904) "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for theold paths, where is the good way, and walk therein." Jeremiah 6:16.Let none seek to tear away the foundations of our faith--the foundations that were laid at thebeginning of our work by prayerful study of the word and by revelation. Upon thesefoundations we have been building for the last fifty years. Men may suppose that they have found

a new way and that they can lay a stronger foundation than that which has been laid. But this is a greatdeception. Other foundation can no man lay than that which has been laid Did not the firstdisciples have to meet the sayings of men? Did they not have to listen to false theories, and then, havingdone all, to stand firm, saying: "Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid"? 1 Cor. 3:11.So we are to hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.Words of power have beensent by God and by Christ to this people, bringing them out from the world, point by point, into the clear light of present truth. With lips touched with holy fire, God's servants have proclaimedthe message. The divine utterance has set its seal to the genuineness of the truth proclaimed.

YE SHALL RECIVE POWER 234Let not any man enter upon the work of tearing down thefoundations of the truth that have made us what we are. God has led His people forward step bystep though there were pitfalls of error on every side. Under the wonderful guidance of a plain, "Thus saiththe Lord," a truth has been established that has stood the test of trial. When men arise andattempt to draw away disciples after them, meet them with the truths that have been tried as by fire. And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write: These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God,and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful,

and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect beforeGod. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thoushalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee(Rev. 3:1-3). Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast; they are notremembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that wouldremove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality ofGod or of Christ are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set thepeople of God adrift without an anchor.

1 MANUSCRIPT, February 24, 1915When waking out of sleep, she called the nurse to her side andsaid, I want to tell you. I hate sin. (Repeated three times). I am charged to tell our people, that the devilhas device after device, and he carries them out in ways that they do not expect. Satansagencies will invent ways to make sinners out of saints.I tell you now, that when I am laid to rest, great changes will take place. I do not know when I shallbe taken; and I desire to warn all against the devices of the devil. I want the people to know that Iwarned them fully before my death. I do not know especially what changes will take place; but theyshould watch every conceivable sin that Satan will try to immortalize.

LAST DAYS EVENTS 59 The Lord Jesus will always have a chosen people to serve Him. When

the Jewish people rejected Christ, the Prince of life, He took from them the kingdom of God and gave itunto the Gentiles. God will continue to work on this principle with every branch of His work. When a church proves unfaithful to the word of the Lord, whatever their position may be,however high and sacred their calling, the Lord can no longer work with them. Others are thenchosen to bear important responsibilities.

LAST DAYS EVENTS 48 The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in hermidst.-1NL 99 (1898)

REVIEW & HERALD, December 23 of 1890 If you seek the Lord with all your heart, he will be foundof you. The end is near! We have not a moment to lose! Light is to shine forth from God's people inclear, distinct rays, bringing Jesus before the churches and before the world. Our work is not to

be restricted to those who already know the truth; our field is the world. The instrumentalities to be usedare those souls who gladly receive the light of truth which God communicates to them. These are God'sagencies for communicating the knowledge of truth to the world. If through the grace of Christ his peoplewill become new bottles, he will fill them with the new wine. God will give additional light, and oldtruths will be recovered, and replaced in the frame-work of truth; and wherever the laborers go,they will triumph. As Christ's ambassadors, they are to search the Scriptures, to seek for thetruths that have been hidden beneath the rubbish of error. And every ray of light received isto be communicated to others. One interest will prevail, one subject will swallow up everyother,--Christ our righteousness."This is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whomthou hast sent." "Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mightyman glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:but let him that glorieth glory in this,

that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving-kindness,judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."

MARANATHA 192 Before the last developments of the work of apostasythere will be a confusion offaith. There will not be clear and definite ideas concerning the mystery of God. One truth afteranother will be corrupted.

PP 686Modern spiritualism, resting upon the same foundation, is but a revival in a new form of thewitchcraft and demon worship that God condemned and prohibited of old. It is foretold in the Scriptures, which declare that "in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, anddoctrines of devils." 1 Timothy 4:1. Paul, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, points to the specialworking of Satan in spiritualism as an event to take place immediately before the secondadvent of Christ. Speaking of Christ's second coming, he declares that it is "after the working of Satanwith all power and signs and lying wonders." 2 Thessalonians 2:9. And Peter, describing the dangers to

which the church was to be exposed in the last days, says that as there were false prophets who ledIsrael into sin, so there will be false teachers, "who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, evendenying the Lord that bought them. . . . And many shall follow their pernicious ways." 2 Peter 2:1, 2. Herethe apostle has pointed out one of the marked characteristics of spiritualist teachers. Theyrefuse to acknowledge Christ as the Son of God. Concerning such teachers the beloved Johndeclares: "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Fatherand the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father." 1 John 2:22, 23. Spiritualism, bydenying Christ, denies both the Father and the Son, and the Bible pronounces it the manifestation ofantichrist.

3SM 398 There will be, even among us, hirelings and wolves in sheep's clothing who will persuade [someof] the flock of God to sacrifice unto other gods before the Lord. . . . Youth who are notestablished, rooted and grounded in the truth, will be corrupted and drawn away by the blind leaders of the blind; and the ungodly, the despisers that wonder and perish, who despise the sovereignty of theAncient of Days, and place on the throne a false god, a being of their own defining, a beingaltogether such an one as themselves--these agents will be in Satan's hands to corrupt the faith of theunwary.

PK 177 The present age is one of idolatry, as verily as was that in which Elijah lived. Nooutward shrine may be visible; there may be no image for the eye to rest upon; yet thousands are followingafter the gods of this world--after riches, fame, pleasure, and the pleasing fables that permit man to followthe inclinations of the unregenerate heart. Multitude have a wrong conception of God and Hisattributes, and are as truly serving a false god as were the worshipers of Baal.

GC 583 In rejecting the truth, men reject its Author. In trampling upon the law of God, they deny theauthority of the Law-giver. It is as easy to make an idol of false doctrines and theories as tofashion an idol of wood or stone. By misrepresenting the attributes of God, Satan leads men toconceive of Him in a false character. With many, a philosophical idol is enthroned in the place ofJehovah; while the living God, as He is revealed in His word, in Christ, and in the works ofcreation, is worshiped by but few. Thousands deify nature while they deny the God of nature.Though in a different form, idolatry exists in the Christian world today as verily as it existedamong ancient Israel in the days of Elijah. The god of many professedly wise men, of philosophers, poets, politicians, journalists--the god of polished fashionable circles, of many colleges and universities, even of some theological institutions--is little better than Baal, the sun-god of Phoenicia.

5 TESTIMONIES 173,174 Are we followers of God as dear children, or are we servants of the prince ofdarkness? Are we worshipers of Jehovah [the living God], or of Baal [the idols]? No outwardshrines may be visible, there may be no image for the eye to rest upon, yet we may bepracticing idolatry. It is as easy to make an idol of cherished ideas or objects as to fashiongods of wood or stone. Thousands have a false conception of God and His attributes. They are as verilyserving a false god as were the servants of Baal. Are we worshiping the true God as He is revealedin His word, in Christ, in nature, or are we adoring some philosophical idol enshrined in Hisplace? God is a God of truth.

SIGNS OF THE TIME May 30 1895 A complete offering has been made; for "God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son,"-- not a son by creation, as were the angels, nor a son byadoption, as is the forgiven sinner, but a Son begotten in the express image of the Father'sperson, and in all the brightness of his majesty and glory, one equal with God in authority, dignity, anddivine perfection. In him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

2 TESTIMONIES 206,207and Gods Amazing Grace169 The divine Son of God was fainting,

dying. The Father sent a messenger from His presence to strengthen the divine Sufferer and brace Him totread His bloodstained path. Could mortals have viewed the amazement and the sorrow of the angelic hostas they watched in silent grief the Father separating His beams of light, love, and glory from the belovedSon of His bosom, they would better understand how offensive sin is in His sight.

LIFT HIM UP 16The Lord Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, existed from eternity, a distinctperson, yet one with the Father. He was the surpassing glory of heaven. He was the commander of theheavenly intelligences, and the adoring homage of the angels was received by Him as His right. This was norobbery of God. "The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way," He declares, "before hisworks of old.I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. Whenthere were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: while as yet he had not madethe earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I wasthere: when he set a compass upon the face of the depths" (Proverbs 8:22-27).There are light and glory in the truth that Christ was one with the Father before the foundation ofthe world was laid. This is the light shining in a dark place, making it resplendent with divine, originalglory. This truth, infinitely mysterious in itself, explains other mysterious and otherwise unexplainabletruths, while it is enshrined in light, unapproachable and incomprehensible

He had an associate--a co-worker who could appreciate His purposes, and could shareHis joy in giving happiness to created beings. Christ, the Word, the onlybegotten of God, was one with the eternal Father--one in nature, in character, in purpose--theonly being that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God. "His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6. His"goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2. And the Son of God declaresconcerning Himself: "The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I wasset up from everlasting. . . . When He appointed the foundations of the earth: then I was by Him, as onebrought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him." Prov. 8:22-30.The Father wrought by His Son in the creation of all heavenly beings. "By Him were all thingscreated, . . . whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by

Him, and for Him." Colossians 1:16. Angels are God's ministers, radiant with the light ever flowing from Hispresence and speeding on rapid wing to execute His will. But the Son, the anointed of God, the"express image of His person," "the brightness of His glory," "upholding all things by the word of Hispower," holds supremacy over them all.

THE GREAT CONTROVERSY 493Christ the Word, the Only Begotten of God, was one with theeternal Father,-- one in nature, in character, and in purpose,--the only being in all the universe thatcould enter into all the counsels and purposes of God. By Christ the Father wrought in the creationof all heavenly beings.

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 363 The only Being who was one with God lived the law inhumanity, descended to the lowly life of a common laborer, and toiled at the carpenter's bench with His

earthly parent. He lived the life which He requires of all who claim to be His children. Thus was cut off thepowerful argument of Satan that God required of humanity a self-denial and subjection that He would notHimself render

The Youths Instructor; July 7, 1898 The Father and the Sonaloneare to be exalted

THE STORY OF REDEMPTION 31 The angels united with Adam and Eve in holy strains of harmoniousmusic, and as their songs pealed forth from blissful Eden, Satan heard the sound of their strains ofjoyful adoration to the Father and Son.

THE YOUTHS INSTRUCTOR; December 16, 1897 From eternity there was a complete unity

between the Father and the Son. They were two, yet little short of being identical; two inindividuality, yet one in spirit, and heart, and character. When our Redeemer consented to take the cup of suffering, in order to save sinners, his capacity forsuffering was the only limitation to his suffering. But his humiliation as a man did not in the slightestdegree take from his honored identity with the Father. While walking the earth in the form of a servant, hecould still affirm, "I and my Father are one."

    9 TESTIMONIES 68.2-69.3The Father and the Son each have a personality. Christ declared: "Iand My Father are one." Yet it was the Son of God who came to the world in human form. Layingaside His royal robe and kingly crown, He clothed His divinity with humanity, that humanity through Hisinfinite sacrifice might become partakers of the divine nature and escape the corruption that is in the worldthrough lust. {9T 68.2}

THE UPWARD LOOK 153Christ is one with the Father, but God and Christ are two distinctPersonages. Read the prayer of Christ in the seventeenth chapter of John, and you will find this pointclearly brought out. How earnestly the Saviour prayed that His disciples might be one with Him asHe was one with the Father. But the unity that is to exist between Christ and His followersdoes not destroy the personality of either. They are to be one with Him as He is one with the Father.

REFLECTING CHRIST 40 Jesus knew the needs of the world better than they themselves knew. He didnot come as an angel, clothed with the panoply of heaven, but as a man. Yet combined with His humility was an inherent power and grandeur that awed men while they loved Him. Although possessing suchloveliness, such an unassuming appearance, He moved among themwith the dignity and power of aheaven-born king. The people were amazed, confounded. They tried to reason the matter out; but, unwilling to renounce their own ideas, they yielded to doubts, clinging to the old expectation of a Saviour tocome in earthly grandeur. -5T. vol. pp. 252, 253.

THE DESIRE OF AGES 51 The dedication of the first-born had its origin in the earliest times. God hadpromised to give the First-born of heaven to save the sinner. This gift was to be acknowledged inevery household by the consecration of the first-born son. He was to be devoted to the priesthood, as arepresentative of Christ among men.

THIS DAY WITH GOD 128Angels were expelled from heaven because they would not work in harmony with God. They fell from their high estate because they wanted to be exalted. They had come to exaltthemselves, and they forgot that their beauty of person and of character came from the Lord Jesus. This

fact the[fallen]angels would obscure, that Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and theycame to consider that they were not to consult Christ.

THE DESIRES OF AGES 21 I do nothing of Myself," said Christ; "the living Father hath sent Me,and I live by the Father." "I seek not Mine own glory," but the glory of Him that sent Me. John 8:28;6:57; 8:50; 7:18. In these words is set forth the great principle which is the law of life for the universe. Allthings Christ received from God,but He took to give.

3 SELECTED MESSAGE 128 The more we think about Christ's becoming a babe here on earth, the more wonderful it appears. How can it be that the helpless babe in Bethlehem's manger is still

the divine Son of God? Though we cannot understand it, we can believe that He who made the worlds, for our sakes became a helpless babe. Though higher than any of the angels, though as great as theFather on the throne of heaven, He became one with us-- The Youth's Instructor, Nov. 21, 1895.

THE UPWARD LOOK 246 Every day we are to become more like Jesus, learning the meekness andlowliness of Him who, though the only begotten Son of God, came to this world as ourRedeemer, giving His life to pay the penalty of sin. Though hiding His divinity under the guise ofhumanity, He was the Mighty Counselor, the Prince of Peace. His life was filled with sympathy and love, goodness, kindness, and benevolence. He revealed the science of everlasting life--the science that we are tocarry into all our efforts.--Manuscript 83, Aug. 20, 1904, "Revealing Christ to the World."

8 TESTIMONIES 156 In the Bible every duty is made plain. Every lesson given is comprehensible.Every lesson reveals to us the Father and the Son. The word is able to make all wise unto salvation. In the word the science of salvation is plainly revealed. Search the Scriptures, for they are the voiceof God speaking to the soul.

8 TESTIMONIES 268 being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritanceobtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said He at any time, Thouart My Son, this day have I begotten Thee? And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me aSon?" Hebrews 1:1-5.God is the Father of Christ; Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exaltedposition. He has been made equal with the Father." All Gods councils (assemblies) are open to HisSon.

MESSAGES TO YOUNG PEOPLE [MYP]254.1Every world throughout immensity engagesthe care and support of the Father and the Son; and this care is constantly exercised for fallenhumanity.

THIS DAY WITH GOD [TDG] 369.1 Read the prayer that Christ offered for His people just before Histrial and crucifixion. Christ in His human nature suffered disappointment and trials. When I read in theBible of how many refused to believe that Christ was the Son of God , sadness fills my heart. We read that even His own brethren refused to believe in Him.

IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A CORRECT CONCEPT OR KNOWLEDGE OF THE GODHEAD?

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 205The great gift of salvation has been placed within our reach atan infinite cost to the Father and the Son. To neglect salvation is to neglect the knowledge ofthe Father and of the Son whom God hath sent. -Review and Herald; 10-3-1891

THE MINISTRY OF HEALING 409 In order to be co-workers with God, in order to become like Him

and to reveal His character, we must know Him aright. We must know Him as He reveals Himself.A knowledge of God is the foundation of all true education and of all true service. It is the onlyreal safeguard against temptation. It is this alone that can make us like God in character. This is the knowledge needed by all who are working for the uplifting of their fellow men.Transformation of character, purity of life, efficiency in service, adherence to correctprinciples, all depend upon a right knowledge of God. This knowledge is the essential preparationboth for this life and for the life to come. And the knowledge of the Holy One is understandingProverbs 9:10.Through a knowledge of Him are given unto us "all things that pertain unto life and godliness." 2 Peter 1:3."This is life eternal,"said Jesus, "that they might know Thee the only true God, and JesusChrist, whom Thou hast sent." John 17:3. "Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in hiswisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 But lethim who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD,exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says theLORD" Jeremiah 9:23, 24.We need to study the revelations that God Himself gave.

EDUCATION 17The Holy Scriptures are the perfect standard of truth, and as such should begiven the highest place in education. To obtain an education worthy of the name,we must receive aknowledge of God, the Creator, and of Christ, the Redeemer, as they are revealed in the sacredword.

CHILD GUIDANCE 293.3 To learn science through human interpretation alone is to obtain a falseeducation, but to learn of God and Christ is to learn the science of heaven. The confusion ineducation has come because the wisdom and knowledge of God have not been exalted.

Clarification of 1 John 5:7: this verse says: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, theWord, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Volume 7A of the SDA Bible commentary on page 693 explains the verse quoted as follows: Textualevidence attests (cf. p.10) the omission of the passage in heaven, the father the Word, and the Holy Spirit:and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth. The resultant reading of vs. 7, 8 isas follows: For there are three that bear record, the spirit and the water and the blood: and these threeagree in one. The passage as given in the KJV is not in any Greek manuscript before the XV and XVI. Thewords referred penetrated the Bibles of the sixteenth century, including the KJV, through the NT Greek textof Erasmus (see t. V, p. 143). Erasmus, it is said, promised to include the words in question in the Greek

New Testament if he showed a single Greek manuscript where they were. Then it was presented to him amanuscript from a library in Dublin [known as 34] with the words mentioned, thus he included them in histext. . It is now believed that this passage was introduced in the latest editions of the Vulgate by a copyist'serror which included a marginal exegetical commentary on the text of the Bible he was copying. The wordsor contested text have been used extensively to support the doctrine of the Trinity, but because the evidenceagainst its authenticity is overwhelming, this support has no value, and therefore should not be used.Although such words are in the Vulgate, was frankly admitted in a Catholic work, "now widely held that thispassage, called Comma Johanneum, [subsection or smaller part of the period of John] is a gloss that wasintroduced from long ago in the ancient text of the Latin Vulgate, but came to the Greek text only in the XVand XVI "(A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture, Thomas Nelson and Sons, 1951, p. 1186).

Clarification on 2 Corinthians 13:14 => here it does not refer to 3 people, but of 3 attributes of Christ.

CHRIST IS THE SECOND IN AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN, BUT HE HAS THE SAMELEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY OVER US, AS OF THE FATHER

LIFT HIM UP 24The Son of God was next in authority to the great Lawgiver. He knew that Hislife alone could be sufficient to ransom fallen man. He was of as much more value than man as His noble, spotless character, and exalted office as commander of all the heavenly host were above the work of man.He was in the express image of His Father, not in features alone, but in perfection of character.

NOTEBOOK LEAFLETS FROM THE ELMSHAVEN LIBRARYVol. 1 page 114,115 Letter 48,1902 Christ is our Example.Hewas next to God in the heavenly courts. But He came to this earthto live among men.

REVIEW & HERALD, December 17, 1872 The Son of God was next in authorityto the greatLawgiver.

PATRIARCHS AND PROPHETS Yet the Son of God was exalted above him, as one in power andauthority with the Father. He shared the Father's counsels, while Lucifer did not thus enter into thepurposes of God.

THE GREAT CONTROVERSY 495 Yet the Son of God was the acknowledged Sovereign ofheaven, one in power and authority with the Father. In all the councils of God, Christ was aparticipant, while Lucifer was not permitted thus to enter into the divine purposes. "Why," questioned thismighty angel, "should Christ have the supremacy? Why is He thus honored above Lucifer?"

PATRIARCHS AND PROPHETS 38 They were dissatisfied with His purpose in exalting Christ. Thesestood ready to second Lucifer's demand for equal authority with the Son of God. But angels whowere loyal and true maintained the wisdom and justice of the divine decree and endeavored to reconcilethis disaffected being to the will of God. Christ was the Son of God; He had been one with Him beforethe angels were called into existence.

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 38 Christ came to the world to reveal the character of the Father and toredeem the fallen race. The world's Redeemer was equal with God. His authority was as theauthority of God. He declared that He had no existence separate from the Father. The authority bywhich He spoke and wrought miracles was expressly His own, yet He assures us that He and theFather are one. . . .Jesus had imparted a knowledge of God to patriarchs, prophets, and apostles. As legislator, Jesus exercised the authority of God; His commands and decisions were supported bythe sovereignty of the eternal throne. The glory of the Father was revealed in the Son; Christ made manifestthe character of the Father. He was so perfectly connected with God, so completely embraced in Hisencircling light, that he who had seen the Son had seen the Father. His voice was as the voice of God Hesays, "I am in the Father, and the Father in me." "No man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neitherknoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." "He that hath

    seen me hath seen the Father" (Matthew 11:27; John 14:11; 14:9) (R & H, 7-1-1890).

Clarification: The Son of God and his Father have the same authority with respect to the created beings. Butamong them, there is an eternal and unshakable hierarchy. The Father will continue to b e the Father andthe Son will be the Son forever.

QUOTES FROM ELLEN WHITE ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

WHO WAS THE THIRD POWER IN HEAVEN BEFORE SIN?

Patriarchs and Prophets 35 Sin originated with him who, next to Christ, had been most honoredof God and was highest in power and glory among the inhabitants of heaven. Lucifer, "son of

the morning," was first of the covering cherubs, holy and undefiled.

1SM 341.3Satan's position in heaven had been next to the Son of God. He was first amongthe angels.

Early Writings 145Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Christ.

THE STORY OF REDEMPTION 13Lucifer in heaven, before his rebellion, was a high andexalted angel, next in honor to God's dear Son. His countenance, like those of the other angels, wasmild and expressive of happiness. His forehead was high and broad, showing a powerful intellect. His formwas perfect; his bearing noble and majestic. A special light beamed in his countenance and shone aroundhim brighter and more beautiful than around the other angels;yet Christ, God's dear Son, had thepre-eminence over all the angelic host. He was one with the Father before the angels werecreated. Lucifer was envious of Christ, and gradually assumed command which devolved onChrist alone.

THE STORY OF REDEMPTION 30 They told Adam and Eve that the most exalted angel, next inorder to Christ, refused obedience to the law of God which He had ordained to govern heavenlybeings; that this rebellion had caused war in heaven, which resulted in the rebellious being expelledtherefrom, and every angel was driven out of heaven who had united with him in questioning the authorityof the great Jehovah; and that this fallen foe was now an enemy to all that concerned the interestof God and His dear Son.

REVIEW & HERALD; February 24, 1874Satan, the chief of the fallen angels, once had an exaltedposition in Heaven. He was next in honor to Christ.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES; August 27 1902 By his own course of action Satan has forged a chain bywhich he will be bound. The inhabitants of the heavenly universe will bear witness to God's justice in hisdestruction. Heaven itself has seen what heaven would be, if he were allowed to remain in it. All theunfallen beings are now united in regarding God's law as changeless. They support the government of Him,who, to redeem the transgressor, spared not His own Son. His law has been proved faultless. Hisgovernment is forever secure. The Father, the Son, and Lucifer have been revealed in their truerelation to one another. God has given unmistakable evidence of His justice and His love.

THE FAITH I LIVE BY 66 Evil originated with Lucifer, who rebelled against the government of God.

Before his fall he was a covering cherub, distinguished by his excellence. God made him goodand beautiful, as near as possible like Himself.

WHO OCCUPIED SATAN'S PLACE THAT WAS LEFT VACANT AFTER SIN ENTERED, IN OTHERWORDS, THE THIRD PLACE IN HEAVEN?

DA 232 It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God, who came with the divine messageto Daniel.

    WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

CHRIST TRIUMPHANT 365 The work of the Holy Spirit is immeasurably great. It is from this sourcethat power and efficiency come to the worker for God; and the Holy Spirit is the Comforter, as thepersonal presence of Christ to the soul.

EDUCATION 134 The invisible things of Him since the creation of the world are . . . perceived throughthe things that are made, even His everlasting power and divinity." Romans 1:20, R.V. But their testimonycan be understood only through the aid of the divine Teacher. "What man knoweth the things of a man,

save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spiritof God." 1 Corinthians 2:11 When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into alltruth." John 16:13. Only by the aid of that Spirit who in the beginning "was brooding upon theface of the waters;" of that Word by whom "all things were made;" of that "true Light, whichlighteth every man that cometh into the world," can the testimony of science be rightly interpreted. Onlyby their guidance can its deepest truths be discerned.

PATRIARCHS AND PROPHETS 366,367 It was Christ that spoke to His people through theprophets. The apostle Peter, writing to the Christian church, says that the prophets "prophesied of thegrace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which wasin them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow." 1Peter 1:10, 11. It is the voice of Christ that speaks to us through the Old Testament. "Thetestimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Revelation 19:10 Jesus was the light of Hispeople--the Light of the world--before He came to earth in the form of humanity. The firstgleam of light that pierced the gloom in which sin had wrapped the world, came from Christ. And from Him has come every ray of heaven's brightness that has fallen upon theinhabitants of the earth. In the plan of redemption Christ is the Alpha and the Omega--theFirst and the Last.

PP 761 This angel was the angel of God's presence (Isaiah 63:9), the angel in whom was the name of thegreat Jehovah (Exodus 23:20-23). the expression can refer to no other than the Son of God.Again: Christ is called the word of God. John 1:1-3. He is so called because god gave hisrevelations to man in all ages through Christ. It was his Spirit that inspired the prophets. 1Peter 1:10, 11. He was revealed to them as the angel of Jehovah, the captain of the Lord's host, Michael thearchangel.

14 MANUSCRIPT RELEASES 23 Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not be in every placepersonally; therefore it was altogether for their advantage that He should leave them, go to His father, andsend the Holy Spirit to be His successor on earth. The Holy Spirit is Himself divested of thepersonality of humanity and independent thereof. He would represent Himself as present in allplaces byHis Holy Spirit, as the Omnipresent.

THE DESIRE OF AGES 669 The Holy Spirit is Christ's representative, but divested of thepersonality of humanity, and independent thereof. Cumbered with humanity, Christ could not bein every place personally. Therefore it was for their interest that He should go to the Father, and send the

Spirit to be His successor on earth. No one could then have any advantage because of his location or hispersonal contact with Christ. By the Spirit the Saviour would be accessible to all. In this sense Hewould be nearer to them than if He had not ascended on high.

1SM 251 The Holy Spirit, which proceeds from the only-begotten Son of God, binds thehuman agent, body, soul, and spirit, to the perfect, divine-human nature of Christ. This unionis represented by the union of the vine and the branches. Finite man is united to the manhood of Christ.Through faith human nature is assimilated with Christ's nature. We are made one with God in Christ.

REFLECTING CHRIST 355 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide inme, and I in you." The very same sap and nourishment that nourishes the parent stock, nourishes thebranch abiding in the vine. Christ is represented by the vine that imparts the nourishment, the

vitality, the life, the spirit, the power, that the branch can bear fruit, and then when affliction anddisappointment come, you are to show altogether a different character of fruit than the world. There is theevidence that you are connected with Jesus Christ, and that there is a power that sustains you in allyour afflictions and disappointments and trials; and this power and this grace sweetens every affliction.[When] the cup of suffering may be placed to your lips, there is a Comforter and Helper.

THAT I MAY KNOW HIM 171There is no comforter like Christ, so tender and so true. He istouched with the feeling of our infirmities. His Spirit speaks to the heart.

DESIRE OF AGES 140,141 The message, "We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, andthe prophets, did write," seemed to Nathanael a direct answer to his prayer. But Philip had yet atrembling faith. He added doubtfully, "Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." Again prejudice arose inNathanael's heart. He exclaimed, "Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?"Philip entered into no

controversy. He said, "Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and saith of him, Behold anIsraelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" In surprise Nathanael exclaimed, "Whence knowest Thou me? Jesusanswered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee."It was enough. The divine Spirit that had borne witness to Nathanael in his solitary prayerunder the fig tree now spoke to him in the words of Jesus. Though in doubt, and yieldingsomewhat to prejudice, Nathanael had come to Christ with an honest desire for truth, and now his desire was met. His faith went beyond that of the one who had brought him to Jesus. He answered and said,"Rabbi, Thou art the Son of God; Thou art the King of Israel." If Nathanael had trusted to the rabbisfor guidance, he would never have found Jesus. It was by seeing and judging for himself that he became a disciple. So in the case of manytoday whom prejudice withholds from good. How different would be the result if they would "comeand see"!While they trust to the guidance of human authority, none will come to a saving knowledge of the truth.Like Nathanael,we need to study God's word for ourselves, and pray for the enlightenment ofthe Holy Spirit. He who saw Nathanael under the fig tree will see us in the secret place ofprayer. Angels from the world of light are near to those who in humility seek for divine guidance.

TM 137Every loyal child of God will seek to know the truth. John stated the truth so plainly that achild may understand it, "If ye love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He shallgive you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom theworld cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him." Do we choose to be numberedwith those who cannot discern the truth, who are so blinded by the deceptive power of theenemy that they see not Him who is the express image of the Father's person?

THE DESIRE OF AGES166 Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto Godby Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25. Though the ministration wasto be removed from the earthly to the heavenly temple; though the sanctuary and our great high priestwould be invisible to human sight, yet the disciples were to suffer no loss thereby. They would realize nobreak in their communion, and no diminution of power because of the Saviour's absence. While Jesusministers in the sanctuary above, He is still by His Spirit the minister of the church on earth. He is withdrawn from the eye of sense, but His parting promise is fulfilled, "Lo, I am with youalway, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:20. While He delegates His power to inferiorministers, His energizing presence is still with His church.

REFLECTING JESUS 285 And Jesus said He would give us the Comforter. What is the Comforter? It is

the Holy Spirit of God.What is the Holy Spirit? It is the representative of Jesus Christ, it is ourAdvocate that stands by our side and places our petitions before the Father all fragrant with His merits. There He accepts the petition of the humblest saint. He doesn't ask you how much money you have, or howheavy you are loaded with property, but the very humblest saint that brings his petition to God, and [his]thank offering is made fragrant with the riches of His grace, and the Father accepts it as your offering, andthe blessing comes to you, grace for grace.Clarification of REFLECTING JESUS 285: according to 1John 2:1 Jesus Christ is our lawyer.

GODS AMAIZING GRACE 325 And the generous, holy Spirit of Christ, working upon the heart, willyield in the life a converting influence upon others. RH 7-5-1908

THE UPWARD LOOK 275 Those who are workers together with God will work in Christ's lines.

Imbued with the spirit of Christ, they will rise to their true dignity and responsibility. The church isnot to fold her hands in security and say, "I am rich, and increased in goods, and in need of nothing." Thefollowers of Christ are not to trust past experience, and fail to go on to perfection. In so doing, the churchwill meet with defeat and ruin. Upon what shall she depend? Wholly and entirely upon God--Letter 89,Sept. 18, 1894, to Edson and Emma White.

8 MANUSCRIPT RELEASES 49The Saviour is our Comforter. This I have proved Him to be.

YE SHALL RECEIVE POWER 54 "Learn of me," said the greatest Teacher that the world has everknown. "Learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew11:29). It is not enough for us to read the Word of God. The Scriptures are given for our instruction, and weare to search them carefully and diligently. We are to study the Word of God, comparing one portion withanother. Scripture is the key that unlocks scripture. As we read and study and pr
