The Troika Blu StoryTroika Blu takes the plunge with intrepid musical interpretations that are making waves. If you thought that the Grateful Dead, Kendrick Lamar and Koi Child could have nothing in common, it’s time to get more fluid with your thinking.

A self-described Psychedelic Jam-Hop, Trip-Hop-Rap band, Troika Blu takes us on a deep dive into some deep cuts — submerging into the depths of what makes these divergent genres epically equal — freedom and soul.

The band of four South Florida teenagers: Drummer, Tristan Yeager, Jaden Lehman on lead guitar, bassist Landon Caballero and singer, Kyli McCarthy are taking on an eclectic playlist that appears to have no rhyme or reason.

Mixed together are songs with different styles, varying levels of energy and a boatload of cultural context — each conjures up a range of emotions and yet, somehow Troika Blu brings them to seamless confluence.

It works for a few reasons.

Connection. That unspoken easy ebb and flow that comes from artists who have grown up playing together. They’re bonded by some cryptic form of telepathic musical communication.

And, because teenagers are immortal. They have the kind of fearlessness that it takes to try anything. They understand that as a young band, they’re continually evolving as they explore new artists, discover old tracks and work them until they’ve infused their personality into the incorporation, making songs uniquely their own.

JADENGuitarist

For guitarist Jaden Lehman seeing a live performance of beat-boxing, reggae rocker Matisyahu was a life-changing experience for a 7-year-old.

KYLISinger

Ask anyone associated with Troika Blu what Kyli brings to the band and they’ll tell you — she’s the flow.

TRISTANDrummer

Tristan Yeager took some sage advice from his grandmother, who suggested he learn to play the drums.

LANDANBassist

“I Love watching the crowd reaction to what we’re playing,” said Landon. “They’re dancing to the music...

Troika Blu started out as just Troika meaning three. Jaden, Landon and Tristan, three tweens who got to know each other at a specialty music school. Missing was someone who could bring

enough vocal range to cover the diverse playlist and yet be comfortable enough with long musical jams that could stretch on without any lyrics. They found that in fellow classmate, Kyli,

who was a natural fit to their free-flowing form, and Troika became Troika Blu.
