The Trinity Window – From the Pastor But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self- control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:18- 24 It's June, and in Connecticut we turn our attention to flowers, vegetable gardens, and trees as spring finally comes into full bloom! The Bible asks us to look carefully at what is blooming and growing in our own lives and our life together. St. Paul warns us about the "works of the flesh" that are always popping up like weeds in our lives. These are works that come forth from the "old sinner" in each of us, and the fruit of our self- centeredness, in that they tear apart our relationship with God, ourselves, and each other. We cannot live in the reality of God's Kingdom when they are our focus. But St. Paul tells us that in baptism we have died to these things, for we have been joined to Christ's Cross, and so these weeds in us have been crucified with him. Instead, fed by God's redeeming grace, and living by his free gift of forgiveness, we live in faith by the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit causes flowering and fruitfulness in our lives. What do these fruits of the Spirit look like? They build up our lives with God, ourselves, and each other. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." God bless you for a fruitful June. --Pastor Mills+ Pastoral Acts Baptism Anne Schindel Baptized May 19, 2013 “Reborn by water and the Spirit” Confirmation Drew Gensicki Andrea Jordan Edward Jordan Carl Roehrich Anne Schindel Matthew Zelie Confirmed May 19, 2013 “May they be sent into the world as witnesses of Christ’s love” Marriage Brittany Child and Donald Schmaling Married May 18, 2013 “Those whom God has joined together, let no one put asunder”

  • Church Picnic

The annual TLC Picnic will be held Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Sundermann residence in North Haven following our worship service. The pool will be open (weather permitting) and we will also have

volleyball, badminton, and fishing (at the pond across the street.) The church will provide the Hot Dogs, Hamburgers (and buns), lemonade and iced tea. Everyone is welcome to attend, just be sure to sign up in the narthex so we have a reasonable headcount. We also ask that you use the sign-up sheet in the narthex to let us know whether you will be bringing either a side dish/ salad or dessert. We also need your help for the set up and clean up. Any volunteers able to bring the tables and chairs out to North Haven email Pastor Mills and back to church after the picnic (on June 16th). The picnic will be held rain or shine.

  • Operation Christmas Child Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” It is with great pride and bounteous joy that I announce to you that Trinity Lutheran Church has become an official relay station for Operation Christmas Child, allowing us to take this wonderful ministry to a new level. What does this mean that we will be a relay station you might ask. We will be the drop off center for other individuals, churches and other groups who like us have assembled shoe boxes. This is a wonderful opportunity of connecting community with children a world away. During national collection week in November we will open our doors daily as we welcome the community and their gift filled boxes. At the end of the week we will transport all the boxes to Trumbull. Let me assure you that we will continue to collect and fill our own shoe boxes as in previous years And they will be prayed for during the Sunday service as usual. We will be praying for volunteers to help us in several aspects of this new endeavor. We will need people to spread the good news to the community{that is something we can all do}, we will need people to be available on drop off days to welcome guest and receive the shoe- boxes, pack shoe- boxes in cartons, sign guest and boxes in, pray for the ministry. In the next window I will have the hours open schedule. It is not to early to volunteer now. See me after church on Sundays or give me a call at 203-999-2315. This month we would ask for donations of coloring books, small stuffed animals, balls, jumpropes or whatever you might like to get. Praise God for this wonderful opportunity to reach out to the community on behalf of children around the globe. Blessings to each and everyone of you. Barbara Mourer Relay Center Coordinator and Chairperson O.C.C.
