During the month of January, SAM (Social and Mission
Concerns) will be collecting cans of soup & chili for the Neighbor-
hood House and Inland Valley Hope Partners. So bring in a can,
or even two! Your donations will help provide a warm meal for
individuals & families who need some extra help during our
cooler winter months. Thanks for your support!

What a lovely day in the neighborhood! Lots of rain did not dampen
the Annual Chino Youth Christmas Parade. Unfortunately, none of the
bands played with the exception of the DES Band from across the street.
However, there were lots of children and young adults who participated with floats of every
kind imaginable. We were blessed again with lots of able bodies that helped with the coffee, hot
chocolate and lots of doughnuts! Again, many hands make the work light! Thank you again to
our church family who help with so many projects. YOU ARE THE BEST!
With your help church family, we were able to collect nearly six dozen
pair of shoes as well as many pairs of socks for the Chino Neighborhood
House. A special thank you to Sue Rhoades who supplied this cause with
about two dozen pair of shoes by herself. B J Bardwell and Lupe Alcantar kindly took them to
the Neighborhood House on Monday, December 16th so they could be distributed during their
Christmas Party and before Christmas.
Thank you again to the wonderful church family of the Chino United Methodist Church.

Donna Maddox had a very unique 90th Birthday in that she asked for items for the
hygiene kits, food pouches and the food pantry instead of birthday gifts. She and her family
brought in bags and boxes filled with all sorts of items-canned food, toothbrushes/toothpaste,
shampoo, conditioner, combs, etc. We are so blessed to have all of these supplies to share with
our Chino community. Thank you Donna again for such a wonderful way to help with our small
missionary outreach. You are the BEST!

First of all we were blessed with many donations in the
form of food and monetary donations. We want to thank those
who were most generous in that regard.
Next, we had many hands that helped from the buying
of the food, to the preparation, cooking, serving, and last but
not least the clean-up. Plus a glorious time was had in just be-
ing together in such a great cause. In terms of preparation, Larry and Carol McFarland cooked
27 turkeys this year by arriving at the church in the wee hours of the morning and staying un-
til noon on Wednesday when the last of the turkeys were carved. We cooked 42 turkeys last
year but these were all large turkeys. A huge thank you to Stan Dack and Larry's sister, Lee
who were the chief “carvers”. By cooking the turkeys the day before, it allows the kitchen staff
time to prepare the trimmings-mashed potatoes, vegetables and dressing. YUM!
Both garbage disposals became backed up so we had to call Larry to come to the rescue
and unplug them. One of the disposals was completely worn out and unuseable so we were
down to only one. Larry then replaced the broken disposal the next day. What would this
church do without him? Many thanks!
We served about 470 people even though we had lots of rain that day!
Thanks to Bill and Margaret Hogarth for buying the extra necessities that were forgotten
in the first place. It is great to have people to pick up the loose ends!
Anyway, thank you to the whole church for helping us pull off another successful dinner.
We couldn't do it without you.
Peace,

Help! I am not the world’s best typist and am struggling to type the lyrics to
the choir anthems for the screen on Sundays. Kathleen Phillips was helping
with this. Do I have another volunteer?
