The Princess Alice left London at about 10am on a clear day to ferry sightseersfirst to Gravesend, where many alighted to visit the popular Kent Zoologicaland Botanical Gardens Institution, better known as Rosherville pleasure gardens, designed over 6.9ka in a disused chalk pit. Other passengers continued to sandybeaches on the Thames estuary north of Sheerness, on the Isle of Sheppey in North Kent.
The Princess Alice left Gravesend just after 6pm for the return “Moonlight Trip”of about 20km along a winding section of the Thames to Swan Pier, near London Bridge,first stopping at North Woolwich Pier. The tide was running out as the Princess Alicepassed drab Thames flatlands around Beckton Gasworks at Gallions Reach, the biggest bendin the section. To defeat the tide the Princess Alice, hugged the south bank of the Thames.When within sight of Woolwich Pier, she swung north and was midstream, off BecktonGasworks, when the Bywell Castle hit. 640 passengers lost their lives.

The Lykes ships moored off Gravesend just East of the Three Daws to unloads their cargo in lash barges. Which were then towed to Tilbury Docks

Gravesend’s Cold War bunker is located within Woodlands park and was originally known as Civil Defence Region 6.
The bunker was an underground command post, built in 1954, from which Gravesend’s rescue and emergency services were to be co-ordinated in the event of a nuclear attack. Its 13 rooms contained power and ventilation plant, communications areas for the command staff and various dormitories.

3. Sauvignon Blanc—Las Camarcas £13.00A classic Chilean Sauvignon with herbal and citrus flavours and aromas.
ROSE WINES4. Zinfandel Rose – Reanne Valley £13.00 A light off dry wine from California bursting with aromas of strawberries and redcurrants, with crisp refreshing summer fruits on the palate.
RED WINES5. Cabernet Sauvignon - Las Camarcas £13.00 Deep ruby colour with an exotic bouquet of raspberries and spice. Velvety and rich with a smooth full finish.
6. Merlot – Las Camarcas £13.00 Full bodied Chilean with lots of black fruit flavours and dark cherry and plum aromas.
7. Shiraz – Pebble Ridge £13.00Red fruits such as blackberries with spice and vanilla and warmth and integrated tannins on the finish. One of the best examples of a shiraz from Australia.
SPARKLING 8.Prosecco Brut £18.50Made from the Prosecco grape with a fresh, fragrant and delicate wine with good balanced fruit and acidity and great mousse in the bubbles.

WHITE WINES1. Muscadet Sur Lie £16.50Dry and crisp wine which has matured on its lees to develop its full fruit flavours with a dry fresh clean finish and soft acidity
2. Gavi Ca Bianca £16.50Classic white wine from Piedmont in Northern Italy with a delicate aroma of wild flowers with a crisp lemon and mineral note finish.
3. Sauvignon Blanc– Southern Lights £16.50 A classic New Zealand Sauvignon with aromas and flavours of passion fruit, grapefruit and tropical fruits with a mouth watering gooseberry finish.
4. Rioja Blanco - Hazana Barrel Fermented £16.50Elegant , medium dry in style with a fresh floral nose and clean fruity finish with pleasant balanced acidity.
ROSE WINES5. La Provencal Cotes De Provence Rose £16.50Delicate pink colour with a light wild strawberry nose with gentle acidity and red berry fruits on the finish.
RED WINES6. Primitivo Monte Pietroso Puglia £16.50Full bodied deep ruby from Southern Italy with a spicy bouquet with a dark plum fruit and smooth full finish. A grape thought to be related to the Zinfandel used in some of the best USA wines.
7. Malbec – Las Olas £16.50 Full bodied Argentinian with lots of black fruit flavours and dark cherry and plum aromas.
8. Cotes Du Rhone £16.50Easy drinking, slightly spicy light red with a berry fruit Finish.
9. Rioja Crianza – Hazana £16.50Red fruits such as blackberries with oak and vanilla and warmth and integrated tannins on the finish. One of the best examples of a crianza for Rioja
10. Pinot Noir - Penny lane £16.50Classic N.Z pinot noir with with plum and spice undertones With a soft fruity finish, can be served lightly chilled.
SPARKLING 11. Maequis De Bel Aires N.V.Brut Champagne £25.00Produced from a family run vineyard called Didier Chopin, this wine has a rich full flavour with a developed nose of ripe fruits and pleasant crisp acidity on the finish.

The Three Daws earlier name was the Cornish Chough (1488 1707), and later The Three Cornish Choughs (1707 1778).
Its name seems to have been associated with pilgrims crossing the river on their way to the shrine of St Thomas.
The Three Cornish Choughs appearing in the coat of arms of Canterbury City. A reference to it as The Three Daws appears in the Gravesend register of 1667.
