•Headed by the president. • Carries out federal laws and recommends new ones, directs national defense and foreign policy, and performs ceremonial duties.

• Powers include:• Directing government • Commanding the Armed Forces• Dealing with international powers• Acting as chief law enforcement officer• Vetoing laws
