HOW TO ADD SOME YARDAGE AND KEEP IT IN PLAY

HITTING EVERYTHING IN THE FAIRWAY

(IF YOU KNOW PHIL OR TIGER HAVE THEM COME SEE ME)

Show me a golfer who isnʼt interested in adding a few more yards to his or her tee shot, and Iʼll show you a golfer who is no longer breathing.

EVERYONE wants to hit the ball a bit farther off the tee, especially if they can also make certain to keep it in the short grass.

Thatʼs what this report is all about.

We have all been taught through the years that weʼve got to learn to 1.explode all of our power into the golf ball while 2.keeping the club face dead square to the target.

This is supposed to be “the secret” to hitting the ball long and straight.

I can assure you this information is not correct.

And the fact that nearly 90% of all the golfers in the world slice the golf ball proves it.

If exploding to the golf ball while keeping the club face square is the secret to great shots, surely there would be more than 10% of them getting it right. But 90% of the golfers canʼt seem to get it accomplished?! We need to get real!! Something is very wrong with this picture!!

Fifty thousand golf professionals world wide and another couple hundred thousand low handicap players cannot be the only ones SMART ENOUGH to do this. Can they?

Maybe it really isnʼt your fault at all. Maybe it is the fault of all of the golf pros and the glossy magazine articles that keep on perpetuating that same old information.

I can promise you one thing. What they have been teaching for the past umpteen years is not working, and the golfers of the world are living proof of it.

Are We Stupid? Or Just Gullible?

Golfers come to see me, and all they can say is,

“I must be stupid or something. I just cannot seem to hit the golf ball where I want it to go. Iʼm trying to do everything I have ever heard or read. I try my best to do what my pro is teaching me to do, but nothing seems to work at all for me. Is there something wrong with me?”

I have to tell them there is something wrong with them. They are gullible. Just because a golf pro or a magazine writer says something is so, that doesnʼt mean they are right.

The Golf Digest or Golf Magazine will have an article one month on how to hit it straight down the fairway, and then the very next month, or even in the same issue, they will have another article on how to cure your slice. The two articles many times will be so different that they would be in a head-on crash if they were cars on a highway.

How can this be?!!!

Back to my earlier question. How can nearly 90% of us out there have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE ABOUT HOW TO “SQUARE UP THE FACE” when we swing the club? Are we all just plain stupid? Or is it that golf REALLY is that hard?

No Way. Yet the golfing industry has done everything in itʼs power to convince you that it is the truth.

Golfers... We arenʼt stupid at all. WE ARE MISINFORMED!!

Some body has been withholding the truth from us for a long, long time, and none of you have even questioned it.

Letʼs first talk about hitting the golf ball straighter.

I hope you noticed I didnʼt say straight. I said straighter, because it is virtually impossible to hit a golf ball straight. I will challenge you to speak with any engineer and ask him how perfect one would have to strike a golf ball in order to make it fly perfectly straight.

And who cares anyway. A nice controlled draw or fade is much easier to control and consistently hit.

The golf ball cannot be consistently made to fly in a straight line. Period.

What are you talking about Darrell? Of course the Proʼs on the Tour can hit the golf ball straight!! Right? No they canʼt. Not straight. And Not Consistently. If they could, then they would hit 14 out of 14 fairways all day long.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 3

So if the Proʼs canʼt do it consistently... And I canʼt do it consistently... Iʼll bet you anything that you canʼt do it consistently either.

Therefore, instead of attempting to hit the ball straight, I want you to learn how to hit it with a

small amount of curve on it... On purpose!

Earlier this season, my wife and I attended a Los Angeles Dodgerʼs baseball game. While sitting in the stands, I noticed something I had seen for years, but I had never paid attention to it.

It didnʼt matter whether it was in the warmup session before the game or in the actual game itself. There was never a ball hit in the air that flew in a straight line. Every ball that was hit in the air curved one direction or the other.

I shared that information with my wife and with the friends who took us to the game. I then mentioned to them it was the same with golf ball. None of the shots actually fly straight, but all of the amateur and recreational golfers will do anything or give anything to make the ball fly in a straight line.

Hereʼs Why Trying to Make the Golf Ball Fly Straight

Such a Bad Idea

This is extremely important for you to understand. Here is the reason why I tell you that.

In an attempt to hit the golf ball on a straight line golfers completely nullify their ability to make a good golf swing.

When you try to hit the golf ball on a straight line, you do your best to “keep the club face square” through impact.

In order to maintain a square club face through impact, a lot of REALLY BAD things happen.

Firstly, you have to grab the club with ten times the amount of gripping pressure required to hit long tee shots. When you increase the gripping pressure you do nothing but introduce TENSION into the golf swing, and tension is the kiss-of-death to any golf swing.

FACT: Most amateur golfers actually do get the club face square at impact, but...

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 4

“square does not hit the golf ball straight”.

That statement is the absolute truth. If a square club face makes perfect contact with the golf ball, but it is traveling even 1° off line it will make the golf ball curve to the opposite side of the fairway.

If the square club face is traveling even 1° from outside to inside it will make the golf ball curve slightly to the right. If it is traveling even 1° from the inside to the outside, it will put a wee bit of pressure on the right side of the center of the golf ball, and it will curve to the left.

We call that a draw if we are playing right handed, and we call it a fade it we are playing left handed. Nevertheless, it will travel the same distance as the other shot, and it will go just as far off line as the other ball is on the other side.

VERY IMPORTANT FACT: The graphite shafts the manufacturers put in those extremely high dollar drivers you are buying, have between 7° to 12° of torque (twist) in them. When you hit a golf ball with a perfectly square club face, the club head twists open somewhere between 7° to 12° upon impact.

FACT: At 250 yards it only takes 2° to spin the golf ball from the middle of the fairway and into the rough and trees.

You pay a fortune for your new “XYZ” driver, and the shaft has 7°-12° of torque in it. The manufacturer who made your driver also made the one Tiger, Phil, Ernie, or whoever is playing and it would cost you several hundred dollars just for the shaft they put in the tour playerʼs club. It has less than 1° of torque and plays like a dream.

I have hit those shafts before, and they are really sweet. But you canʼt buy them.

FACT: In order to compensate for the twist in the shaft of your driver upon impact, you need to come into the golf ball with the club face closed enough in your hands to offset the amount your club will twist open.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 5

That may sound a bit technical to you, but it really isnʼt.

I believe golfers are astute enough to be able to consistently come into the golf ball with the face of their driver fairly square. Keep in mind that a mere 2° out of square is all it takes to send the ball into the rough and trees. Next add to that the torque in the shaft and the rubber grip, and you have a real dilemma on our hands.

Just thinking “get the club face square” and “hit the ball straight” are causing a whole bunch of bad stuff to happen in your golf swing.

Hereʼs an example.. Ever felt like you can have a perfect practice swing.. only to totally screw up the shot? Thatʼs why! You tried to ʻhit the ballʼ and/or ʻguide the club headʼ.

Get it out of your thoughts and you will see immediate improvement.

So what do you think about instead? Is it swing mechanics, swing planes, hand positions... blah blah blah...

Nope, Nope and Nope.

Amateurs golfers tend to all think there is a perfect way to hold the club and only one perfect way to swing it. That is such a pile of junk!! You may hold the club any way you desire, and you may swing it any way you wish to swing it.

THEREʼS ONLY ONE THINGTHAT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE, AND

IT IS NOT MECHANICS!!

Itʼs Ball Spin.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 6

So if nothing else, remember this.

Erase “SQUARE” and “HIT STRAIGHT” from your thoughts! You and I can’t hit straight, and keeping the club face square doesn’t work anyhow... So quit trying.

There, Iʼve finally said it as straight forward as I possibly can. Ball spin is the only thing that matters in golf–as far as striking the ball and making it go where you want it to go. Nothing else really matters.

Every golfer who I have ever seen in my fifty-five years of playing the game and forty-five years of teaching the golf swing who understood ball spin, AUTOMATICALLY ended up with a great golf swing.

[have you unlocked your ball spin video yet?... It’s a bonus video inside www.CutTheCrapGolf.com]

They did not have to work on their golf swing. All they focused on was how to create the spin they wanted in order to make the ball fly and curve toward their intended target. If I could get more of you to see that, you would stop thinking there is some “secret” to the golf swing, and you would stop believing the golf swing is a huge mystery.

NOW.. Letʼs get to work...

HITTING IT AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN

As I stated at the start, everyone wants to add some yardage to their shots. I also mentioned how all of the famous guys out there keep encouraging you to “explode all of your power into the golf ball.” That even excites me when I hear it.

Thereʼs only one problem. ITʼS LOUSY PHYSICS!!

When we actually explode all of our power right into the golf ball, we have in fact decelerated into the shot, and weʼre losing a lot of oil! Swinging to explode our maximum power right into the golf ball, in fact causes us to hit shorter than we are capable of hitting the ball.

In order to transfer the energy of the golf club most efficiently into the golf ball, the clubhead must still be accelerating when it reaches the golf ball.

If the clubhead is still accelerating when it reaches the back of the golf ball, then it has not attained its maximum speed at that point. It is still on its way to the point in the swing where its maximum speed is achieved. Therefore, we see through the simple application of physics that the clubhead should actually be traveling its fastest at some point beyond the golf ball.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 7

Most golfers I talk to know they should swing through and past the ball. In fact, most tell me that they are do it.

But they arenʼt. And there is a perfectly good answer to why they fail in this.

Itʼs all mental.

Most of us are so intrenched in trying to guide and control the golf ball that we cannot get our mind off of it. When the human mind focuses on the golf ball, everything in the swing stops at the ball in an effort to both hit it hard and to control it.

And That Screws You Up.

The golf ball has the ability to grab onto the golfers mind so tightly that the golfer is not able to get free from it. I know that sounds crazy, but it is one of the major reasons golfers cannot hit the ball longer than they presently do, and it is the total reason why they cannot control their golf shots.

In order to swing the club in a manner which guarantees acceleration through the hitting area and past the golf ball, you must learn how to be aware of the golf ball either on the ground or on a tee... But not allow it to captivate your mental focus.

Remember, you wonʼt swing a golf club to any meaningful point that is beyond your focus. Therefore, your mental focus has got to be on a point well beyond the golf ball.

While this may sound difficult, it really is very simple. If I were to place a golf ball on the ground and then place a volleyball about eighteen inches beyond that, you would have no problem looking in the direction of the golf ball while focusing your mind on the

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 8

You’ve got to get your mind off the golf ball. Focusing on a point beyond the ball, allows you to swing and accelerate on past the ball. This will increase your distance.

volleyball. You would also have no problem swinging strongly into the volleyball (missing the golf ball intentionally).

This is how we learn to swing the club powerfully to a point well beyond the golf ball, and when we are able to do that we are guaranteed the clubhead is still accelerating as it passed through the area where the golf ball is resting.

The reason the mind balks at this is simple. When we are mentally focussed on the volleyball, we feel as though we are no longer able to CONTROL the golf ball with the club face.

FACT: Humans like to control everything in their lives–especially the golf ball!!

We naturally have a very difficult time giving up control of things, especially the things which we feel we should be able to control. And us golfers really believe they can control the golf ball.

But can you... really?

If you have never really been able to control the ball, why donʼt you simply give up the effort and end all of the frustration?

If you could curve the ball left or right upon command, then you could hit every shot either to the left of the target and curve it to the right, or you could hit your shots to the right of your target and curve the ball to the left.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 9

Learn to curve the ball left and right.

It is much easier to control than trying to hit straight shots.

This means every shot you hit would be curving closer to the target, rather than flying off into trouble.

Golf pros donʼt hit their shots to the target. They hit them so they are always curving toward the target, and hopefully, never away from it.

You need to think about those last few statements until a light goes on somewhere. It really is the key to playing more consistent golf, like you have always wanted to do.

I have just given you one of the major keys to hitting longer shots and playing better, more consistent golf.

Again, I can hear you saying to yourself (and to me), “Well, yeah. I already know all of that. Everyone knows it. Thatʼs nothing new or important to me.”

I know this, because I have heard it from golfers all around the world. They think these simple, little facts are to elementary for them. They want to learn some “advanced” golf tips. They just did, and they were too dumb to realize it!!

(and itʼs not totally their fault. The PGA and the magazines have the millions of us believing we need to worry about all the mechanics, and swing planes and all that)

But believe it or not, the things I have just shared with you are the major difference between you and the pros.

You do not have to be a professional in order to hit your shots farther and to keep them in the fairway.

{ Power Point DRILL }Forget All those Ridiculous Swing

Thoughts. Here’s the ONLY TWO Things You Need!

There are just a few basics which will make a world of difference for you. First of all you must learn to hit what I call the “Power Point” in your swing with the maximum energy you have elected to use for the shot. Then secondly, you must learn what position the club face should be in at that point in your swing.

Those two simple things will put your golf ball in play at all times. I personally guarantee it. I have taken hundreds of golfers playing between an 18 and a 26 handicap all the way to scratch with this simple information. I have coached 35 youngsters into college scholarships with this simple information, and I know it will work for you the same way.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 10

With your pitching wedge the power point of your golf swing is about one foot beyond the golf ball when you are at address, this is the point in the swing where you clubhead should be going its fastest. It is just like hitting the volleyball with your strength, with the volleyball resting one foot past the ball.

With your driver the volleyball will be approximately 3 feet beyond the golf ball. With a 7-iron it is about 15-18 inches out there, and with your fairway woods and hybrids it will be approximately two feet past the golf ball.

There are two major keys to doing this correctly: 1) you NEVER lean or reach to the power point. You use your normal golf swing to hit

it. Therefore your head will NOT pass the golf ball through or prior to impact; and 2) you have to hit the imaginary volleyball with the toe of your golf club coming into it

at approximately 45°. We do not hit the imaginary volleyball with the face of the club square to the target line.

Hitting the imaginary volleyball with the power of your golf swing will begin to add some yardage to your shots, immediately. Hitting the volleyball with the toe of your clubhead at approximately 45° to the target line will immediately start to put all of your shots where you can find them.

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 11

When the toe of the clubhead is approximately 45° to the target line, it will be perfectly square to that quadrant in the arc of your swing. It will also be fairly square to your hip and lap line, because your hips will automatically begin to rotate properly WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO GET YOUR MIND FOCUSED ON THE VOLLEYBALL, rather than on the golf ball.

This will give you a bit of a lost feeling, in a sense, because you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANY OF THIS IF YOU ARE FOCUSED ON GUIDING AND CONTROLLING YOUR SHOT.

Donʼt worry if you start pulling the ball a bit at the first. If that happens, just keep swinging the club just as freely, but swing as if you feel like you are going to hit the ball a small bit to the right of your intended target.

You control your golf shots by swinging the club where we want the ball to go, not by controlling the club face. The club face ONLY imparts spin on the ball for flight and for curving it. When golfers ask me to show them how to do that in a lesson, I simply stand out in front of them to the left of the target line, and then to the right of the target line and just tell them to swing the club at me.

I have NEVER had a student get confused with that little bit of information, yet I write about it and golfers worldwide write and ask what I mean by it. I only share that with you because you will probably attempt to make something far too difficult out of it at the first. Donʼt do that!!!

If you were playing baseball I would have you swing your golf swing toward the shortstop, and then the second time I would have you swing it to the right of the pitcherʼs mound. It really is that simple to hit a golf ball where you want it to go. Itʼs not meant for

www.CutTheCrapGolf.com by Darrell Klassen 12

this report, but you donʼt even have to be in any particular alignment to do it. Just swing the club where you want the ball to go.

I have shared the information in this report with two young mini tour pros, and both of them were completely awe struck by the depth of it, along with its simplicity. They were both blown away with how easy this whole thing actually is. I only tell you that because this information would take you all the way to the tour, if you could learn to keep it this simple–and practice it.
