MESSAGE FROM THE EAST

Nearing Year’s End

Greetings Brethren,

It seems hard to believe that it isalready November and another Masonic Yearis drawing to a close. As we approach thehome stretch, I would like to thank all of youfor making this a successful year. Especially,I would like to thank my team of officers andPast Masters that went above and beyond thecall of duty to make this year great.

As you can see from the Lodgecalendar, there is still quite a bit of activitybefore the end of the year.

I encourage you to make allowances inyour own very busy Holiday schedules to helpus end on a strong note and carry thatenthusiasm into the New Masonic Year. Ifyou have not made it to Lodge yet this year, you only have a few opportunities left. If youare unable to attend Lodge, please rememberyou are always welcome at our other activities.

Fraternally,

Andy ParadowskiWorshipful Master

Masons Celebrate Mozart’s 250th

Birthday!Whitefish Bay – On Tuesday, October 17,2006 Brothers, guests and visitors to theGeorge Washington 1776 Lodge joined ina rare and wonderful celebration of themusic of one of Freemason’s most famousand beloved composers, BrotherWolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The evening began with introductions byCo-Hosts Worshipful Masters AndyParadowski of GW 1776 Lodge #337 andGarry Davis of Aurora Lodge #30. TonyBusalacchi, Master of Ceremoniesprepared the expectant audience byplaying a recording of a selection fromMozart’s Magic Flute which isresplendent with references to the richnessof Masonic tradition.

The first performer was theorganist from GW 1776 Lodge,Larry Roou. His performance ofMasonic Funeral Music wasunforgettable. Also impressivewas his own organ arrangement ofMozart’s Rondo. The Brethren ofGW 1776 Lodge are fortunateindeed, to have such a giftedmusician to perform at LodgeMeetings!

The main act of the night ofcelebration was The MacDowellClub of Milwaukee. The eveningwas graced with solo and duetperformances from Mozart’s The

Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni

and Cosi Fan Tutte by DonnaShriner and Sally Lane Schwarzaccompanied by Suzanne Pajunenon piano. Pajunen was joined by

Mariann Landa on an exciting Four Hands rendition of Sonata

in D for Piano, and joined clarinetist, Tammy Enevold forConcerto in A for Clarinet & Piano.

The audience thrilled at the musical artistry of the performersand enjoyed the anecdotes shared by the musicians. Enevoldtold of how Mozart would challenge musicians by writingnotations between the lines of music. “On a particularlydifficult part,” Enevold said, “he would write, ‘There! Try toplay that!’”

" . . there is a Masonic secret, a mystery, an

experience that cannot be taught or explained

because it lies, like every mystic experience,

beyond the realm of controlled consciousness... It

is the realization that beyond the dark and material

world there is a realm of light towards which all

men must strive."
