The Superhero Edition

Thank you for downloading my FREEBIE!This download gives you two sample Roll-a-Story boards and

coordinating writing paper.

Directions for Use:Students roll a die and then match their number to the die on their Roll-a-Story board. The board will tell them what to write a story about.

How I Use Roll-a-Story in My Classroom:I give my students one board at a time. Each student gets their own copy of the current board. They keep their boards in their writing folders for safe keeping, and one die in their pencil box. I encourage my students to use their boards as a fast finisher activity, or for story ideas during Writer’s Workshop. My students write their stories in their composition books. If you do not have notebooks, writing paper is included at the end of this file.

Other Suggestions for Use:Put a Roll-a-Story board out as part of a writing center or as a fast finisher activity. You may want to laminate your boards if using this option. There really is no wrong way to use them, that’s the beauty of these boards!

The Boards:Each board features 6 different story prompts. The prompts provide just enough information to spark creative thinking. Each prompt provides students with a character, a setting, and a problem. It is up to the students to develop those ideas into a complete story. Encourage your students to give the characters a name, to further develop/describe the setting, and to elaborate on the problem and solution. You know the needs and abilities of your students, so be sure to make your expectations clear

**Note: Students will need one die to use with the Roll-a-Story board.
