Core Improve Innovate

AUTHOR SHARON PEARSON, Founder of The Coaching Institute

Introduction

BUSINESS GETS HARDER OR EASIER WHEN

CERTAIN PRINCIPLES ARE APPLIED

CONSISTENTLY.

The idea that we should do only what interests us,

no matter what needs to be done, for example, is

probably a poor business principle. So is the idea

that if it’s too hard, don’t do it?

On the other hand, the business principle that all

we do should lead to a great outcome for our

business vision, is probably a sound idea.

One of the business principles I’ve stayed with for

years has no name (yet), and is

CORE

IMPROVE

INNOVATE

This comes from Meta Dynamics, and is a

structural framework for thinking and allocating

time, resources and effort.

The Core Improve Innovate (CII) framework

simply divides our finite resources, including time,

across what needs to happen to maintain, protect,

grow and improve the business.

Each of those four goals are different, and require a

unique focus.

Core is for maintaining and protecting what we

have in terms of vision, team, strategies for going

to market, systems and processes.

Improvements are what we can do to

Core to improve our results in some way. It can be

an actual sales result improvement, an

improvement in lead generation, an improvement

in a system, a recruitment procedure… whatever it

is, it improves what’s already there.

Innovations are what we do when we

bring in new, unique ideas that involve doing

something never done before.

FOR EXAMPLE,

A Core strategy is to convert leads to sales.a

An improvement would be to improve one of the

pieces of literature we send the prospects. It’s

been done before, and is improving what we have.

An Innovation would be hiring an outside company

to door knock for sales. It’s never been done

before, and is a completely different skill set.

So an Innovation, once done once, then becomes

Core, which we can then improve.

WORLD OF META DYNAMICS

7

This matters because if we don’t have a balance of

all three strategies on the go, and only do Core,

we will stagnate and our business will go

backwards.

If we do too much Improvement, we don’t get to

measure Core, so we don’t know if what we’re

doing is effective.

If we do too much Innovation, and neglect Core,

we lose Core and so our income, because

Innovations must become Core to allow them to

be measured for effectiveness.

Mixing the Variables

TO MAINTAIN AND PROTECT THE BUSINESS

WE NEED TO FOCUS ON WHAT’S CORE TO

US AND TO OUR ONGOING SURVIVAL.

This is Core. In normal times, it takes most of our

time, as things are going well and we want to keep

replicating what works.

We then give some of those valuable resources to

the other areas – Improvements and Innovations,

based on availability of resources, and on how

aggressive a market we are in or want to create.

If we want to ‘tick along’, we’ll stay in Core, with

some Improvements and Innovations.

If we want to grow the business steadily, then we

put most resources in Core, and a little more than

previously into Improvements and Innovations.

If we face a crisis, or want to be more aggressive in

a market, then we put more resources into

Improvements and Innovations.

Facing Storms

IT OFTEN TAKES A STORM OF SOME TYPE –

BAD NEWS, A SETBACK, A SEEMINGLY

UNSOLVABLE PUZZLE – FOR THE CORE TO BE

QUESTIONED.

When this happens, we may shift our focus into

Improvements, and even Innovations. We have to,

for our survival, because maintaining and protecting

Core is no longer enough – for example, if the

‘storm’ takes the form of crashing sales, or the web

site going down and all leads drying up.

An outside force, such as a new competitor, can

also mean needing to pour resources into

Innovations. For example, in 2013 we were the

subject of a negative PR campaign by another

competing organization. It wasn’t enough to just

keep going and wait for the storm to pass.

It was the opportunity to dramatically innovate.

That’s how the Meta Dynamics Association came

about and the body of knowledge you’re now

reading about.

It often takes a crisis for change, as long as we

recognize that we need to move from Core into

Improvements and Innovations, to survive and

thrive.

Staying in Core, and ‘hoping’ everything will be

okay, is not an option when things go topsy turvy.

8

It’s the businesses that ignore the threat, that hope

things will improve, that figure ‘this can’t last’, that

really pay the price by failing to use this model.

Today’s Reality

TOO MANY BUSINESS OWNERS THINK

STICKING TO CORE, NO MATTER WHAT, IS

ALL IT TAKES TO STAY IN BUSINESS.

Today’s reality is, unless you’re innovating and

staying ahead of, and separate from the pack of

competitors, you’re quickly obsolete. Look at the

major players in the internet space today.

Facebook. Google. You Tube. Instagram.

Pinterest….

There’s always a new innovation. There’s a

constant rush of new ways to experience ourselves

and our world being made available. Facebook

makes a $19b play for a company, simply because it

has instant connection.

Our business world may not be that fast and the

numbers might be more modest, but the principles

stay the same.

If we stay still, we get run over. We must be

improving and innovating to stay in the game, not

just to get ahead of the game.

TCI Innovations

ON A NORMAL DAY, WE SPEND 70% IN

CORE, AND 20% IN IMPROVEMENTS AND

10% IN INNOVATIONS.

When there is market pressure, an unusual event

or a foreseeable threat, we switch that in our

marketing department – the Dream Factory – and

it becomes much more focused on Innovations.

In 2013, when we decided to move into Meta

Dynamics and away from NLP, this was an

Innovation.

Now it’s part of our world, our students have

embraced it, and love it, so now it’s Core and we

must improve it.

And we recognize we are only as good as our last

innovation. We can’t keep referring to that

innovation. We must continue to drive unique

offerings to stay interesting to our market and to

stay ahead and separate from the pack.

Unique and Different

ONE OF THE KEY DISTINCTIONS ABOUT

MARKETING AND EXPANDING INTO

MARKETS IS THE NOTION OF ‘UNIQUE’.

You don’t have to be better than your

competition. You just have to be unique from the

competition. And your uniqueness must be

something that people relate to and want.

There is a competitor in our space that offers

discounted, online programs.

So we don’t discount. And we’re not all online.

There are plenty of people for both places in the

market. We just would never want to be in the

crowded discount market. Similarly, I’m sure they

don’t want to be in the high end market, which has

its own pressures.

9

Final Thoughts

IN THE META DYNAMICS LEVEL II PROGRAM,

THE PROFILING TOOL EXAMINES

ADAPTABILITY AS AN ATTRIBUTE FOR

SUCCESS.

I think that’s what this model is about. It’s about

not defending the status quo simply because it’s

there, but recognizing the other notes on the

guitar that must be played to produce a tune with

listening to.

If we adhere too much to Core, we protect what

we have, but risk losing it because we’re not open

to adapting in the face of threats.

If we stay in Improvements, nothing ever lands so

we don’t know what works.

If we stay in Innovations, we threaten our existing

income source.

The key, then, is the balance between them,

depending on the conditions you find yourself in.

And more significantly, it depends on the

willingness of the business and its leaders to do

what needs to be done, regardless of any

discomfort about ‘rocking the boat’.

There was an ad once where the

pitchman said, ‘When you’re on a good

thing, stick to it’.

In business, that’s a bad idea.

EVERYTHING WE DO IS BASED ON THREE

LEVELS. IT IS CORE, IMPROVEMENT, OR

INNOVATION.

Core What we MUST do to deliver on our promises.

These are KPI’ed, measurable, consistent

behaviours that we must do to keep the business

maintaining what we do.

70% OF YOUR TIME NEEDS TO BE HERE

Improvement What we CAN do to improve on Core. These

improvements are what aids us in doing what we

must do, through new ways of doing Core.

20% OF YOUR TIME NEEDS TO BE HERE

Innovation What we DREAM to do to grow our business, that

we’re not doing today. These are the inventions

that we bring that enable us to WOW each other,

our members and our prospects to show we are

ahead of anyone else when it comes to business.

Innovation Paradox

AUTHOR KERRYN GAMBLE, Thought Dynamics Consultant

The greatest companies in the

world today are purpose

driven and actively seek to

improve what they do.

In the exploration of creating "better" there are no

boundaries and reality is whatever you decide to

make it. The paradox is driving the right innovation

strategy for the future, whilst keeping the company

profitable. The gap for many leaders comes with

not having a systematic approach to innovation and

focussing more on who's doing what, than what if?

INNOVATION CAN BE MESSY AND SOLVING

SOMETHING NO-ONE HAS THOUGHT OF

BEFORE IS TRULY UNIQUE.

Just as Google needed Android to challenge mobile

and Apple needed Siri to

re-establish itself in search , successful businesses

need to constantly evolve and revolutionise how

they do things, either through partnerships, new

talent or a combination to stay viable. The

environment for sustainable innovation is where

you write the story.

WHAT DO YOU DO IF INNOVATION IS

NOT AT THE CORE OF YOUR

ORGANISATION?

Innovation is an ongoing process rather than a

single initiative and the skills to accelerate

innovation can be learned.

Successful companies without innovation at their

core may find the very thing that brought them

success can become rigid and stifle the thinking

that challenges and creates opportunity to grow -

Kodak and Yellow pages are examples of this.

INNOVATION CAN BE PASSIVE OR ACTIVE.

Passive innovation behaviours such as being open

to unique ideas are more common than active

innovation behaviours of idea generation sessions

and encouraging employees to spend more time

understanding stakeholder views and less time

problem solving. There is a disconnection between

the innovation behaviours leaders think they

demonstrate and how their team perceives their

actions.

So what can leaders do about this?

HERE ARE FOUR STEPS TO CREATING A

CULTURE OF INNOVATION:

The STUDENT ARTICLES

1. Environment

START AT THE TOP

Innovation needs to be prioritised by

the organisation, through mission,

vision and values and a belief that

innovation is essential for the long

term success. Positive attitudes

around exploration of ideas and

frequent communication of the

organisational mission is important.

2. Structure

SET A FRAMEWORK FOR

INNOVATION

What are the activities with

measureable outcomes that will drive

innovation? What are your

benchmarks of excellence?

3. Implementation

INNOVATION IS A PROCESS

What sustainable activities/ processes

are happening to support ongoing

innovation and turn a good idea into

something that will drive the

profitability of the company?

4. People

DRIVING INNOVATION

Give people the freedom to make

mistakes by trying new things and

allow your employees to contribute

their own unique perspectives,

techniques and problem solving skills.

Develop an organisational persona that

demonstrates innovation daily. Teams look to the

leader more for what they do rather than say. How

will you deliver a culture to encourage innovation,

so your organisation can deliver something that

sets a new standard?

and Strategy

AUTHOR SHARON PEARSON, Founder of The Coaching Institute

Strategic innovation is about

taking the road less travelled. It’s supposed to challenge an organization to look

beyond established business boundaries and

accepted practices and participate in open-minded,

creative exploration of realms of potential. Some

businesses believe the game is ‘incremental

improvements’ and simply ‘growing the business’.

This short term thinking can be a trap, as short

term decisions don’t take into account longer term

threats and opportunities.

IT ALSO LEAVES THE BIG IDEAS ON THE

TABLE FOR A COMPETITOR TO GRAB.

Strategic innovation is not characterized by the

mundane or incremental changes, such as product

extensions or copycat business models that may be

new to the business but old news in the industry.

It’s not about linear principles of traditional

planning which looks at budgets and the past to

determine some fixed rate of steady growth for

the future.

STRATEGIC INNOVATION IS INDUCTION.

It’s seeing what can’t be seen. It’s considering what

has never been considered. It’s looking at the gaps

and filling them with potential ideas that have not

been conceived of.

Facebook did not come about through incremental

improvement. Nor did Google. They were

innovations that ignored what was there, and

asked, ‘What if we…?’

TRADITIONAL THINKING

See the future through the eyes of the past and

what ‘always has been’

Assumes there’s something to defend

Accepts the status quo in terms of business

boundaries

Incremental improvement

Linear business thinking

Seeks feedback and ideas from traditional

sources

Seeks to deliver what the client wants

Willing to land on the ‘right way’

Linear hierarchical leadership and organizational

structure

Committee, discussion, approval

INNOVATION THINKING

Starts with the end in mind

Assumes it doesn’t have to even exist

Accepts that there needs to be a category outside

of any boundary

Wholesale revolution

Disruptive innovation

Looks outside of the business and the current

market

Seeks to invent what the client hasn’t even

thought of wanting yet

Fears the ‘right way’ becomes ‘that’s how we’ve

always done it’

Organization is structured around ideas and

potential, and may not last longer than the idea

Trees Don’t Grow to the Sky Forever

TREES DON’T GROW TO THE SKY FOREVER.

With that sentence, you have the reason why even

profitable, strong businesses must innovate.

The film industry thought it would just go on

making expensive movies and that people would

keep on going to cinemas. YouTube, Apple TV and

others had different ideas.

The book industry figured books in hard back

would always sell for $40. Amazon was thinking a

slightly different model.

The newspaper industry just kept selling papers.

Google and other aggregators were not going to

play.

Yellow Pages…

Watches…

Landlines phones…

Kodak…

The path will run out.

It may look fabulous right now, but the light you

see ahead, unless you are thinking alternatives, is

that train everyone talks about.

Disruptive innovation, where entire

markets disappear and something else

entirely comes along is the new normal.

Being an innovator is also

the new normal.

Enjoy!

Cause ALL Our Unhappiness

AUTHOR KATE HINDMARSH, Credentialed Master Practitioner of Coaching Student

I IMAGINE YOU ARE PROBABLY ASKING THE

QUESTION RIGHT NOW, HOW COULD ALL

MY UNHAPPINESS BOIL DOWN TO JUST TWO

THINGS?

Understanding these two things is so simple and

taking action to overcome them will deliver deeply

fulfilling fruits of life. In fact, the most delicious fruit

I have ever tasted. Fruits so incredible that no

words come close to describing them, they can

only ever truly be experienced to be known.

For me the journey of resourceful growth and

happiness started seven years ago and I am still in

the process of mastering these two simple things.

It is said that mastery comes after 10,000 hours.

Even without having achieved mastery, my levels of

happiness have multiplied exponentially and I now

understand both from an intellectual and

experiential point of view that my happiness lies

solely in my own hands.

To be happy when life is going ‘right’ is

easy, though often short lived.

To be happy in the face of

discontent, stress, adversity

and challenge is far from easy

and seemingly impossible for

most people.

Understanding the two things that trip us up and

then choosing differently will enable you to be

happy moment to moment, day in day out

regardless of what is happening in your life.

SO WHAT ARE THE TWO THINGS THAT

CAUSE ALL OUR UNHAPPINESS?

PUT VERY SIMPLY THEY ARE

CRAVING AND AVERSION.

Craving is to have desire toward

something. Wishing, wanting, yearning and hoping

for something.

Aversion is to have a dislike or

disinclination toward something.

Both craving and aversion arouse emotions and

reactions in each of us that ultimately cause us

blind suffering. I say blind suffering because until

we are aware of the impact of craving and aversion

and experience it for yourself then we cannot

begin to even imagine the destructive ripple effects

it has on our lives.

As we evolve through life we form an identity of ‘I’

and ‘mine’ then naturally we go about protecting

ourselves and possessions. Everyone has seen a

child throw a tantrum of wanting ‘my’ toy. Or

perhaps an adult describing in detail and with

heated emotion how they dislike it when a car cuts

‘me’ off. These may seem like insignificant acts and

examples, though when you multiply the craving

and aversion out literally hundreds or thousands of

times a day for years the emotion builds up.

STUDENT ARTICLE

2 Things that

The Successful Coach Magazine | Issue #5 | March 2014

20

This blind suffering results in negative emotions of

stress, self-pity, hurt, fear, anger, loss and the list

goes on, which ultimately manifests in our bodies

as sickness, physical alignments, pains, disease etc.

If craving and aversion are the two things that

result in our unhappiness then you are bound to be

asking by now…

What on earth is the way forward

to experiencing greater levels of

sustained and true happiness?

THE ANSWER I FOUND IS TO LIVE IN THE

PRESENT MOMENT.

Being present in mind and body to whatever task

or activity I am performing. Because when you

are present there is no need to be concerned with

craving or aversion and your levels of happiness

will automatically increase.

SOME OF THE KEY THINGS THAT HAVE

ASSISTED ME TO LIVING IN PRESENT MOMENT

ARE (NO PARTICULAR ORDER):

Taking control of my current thoughts –

realising I have a choice

Seeing my happiness as a priority over what

others think and say - being willing to do

what it takes

Seeing this lifetime as a gift

Experiencing first-hand the connection

between mind and body

Releasing stored emotions of sadness, anger

and fear etc.

Understanding how I build my world -my

own reality

Accepting and trusting things as they are-

not as I want them to be

Focusing on and doing one thing at a time

Meditating daily

Fortunately, today there are many brilliant books

and techniques that cover this topic in detail, see

below for some tremendous resources that have

made my journey, thus far, possible and fruitful.

Please be forewarned this is not an easy path BUT

if you are willing to commit to your own destiny

and get very uncomfortable, then you will be

rewarded many times over. I champion you to find

all the courage within to live a life of happiness, one

that resonates deep from within your core.

You can go it alone or you can seek some

guidance, whatever works for you. Depending

upon where you are at different tools, resources

and guidance will be useful. For me there have

been many generous and dedicated people that

have inspired and guided me to greater levels of

happiness to whom I am eternally grateful.

May you experience real happiness,

then share it with others.

Get Innovating…

AUTHOR NATASHA WILLIAMS, Mastermind Mentor from The Coaching Institute

Don’t we love all the motivational pics on

Facebook of the small town boy done good.

Disney, fired from his first job for a lack of

imagination. Jordan kicked out of his high school

basketball team. Jobs, thrown out of the company

he created. Oprah, demoted because she wasn’t

right for television.

NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE SEE IT,

WE’RE INSPIRED AGAIN. WHY?

They serve as a reminder that in

the harshest of emotional setbacks

these people got back up, got busy

creating and changed the world.

I read recently a quote by Ziad Abdelnour

“One of the hardest decisions you'll ever face is

whether you'll walk away or try harder.”

Isn’t that sometimes the toughest decision in

business? Persist with passionate conviction to

keep moving or do we need to walk away.

We’re in a technological age busier than ever with

a flood of information. There’s a subtle shift where

rather than seeking more information, it’s how can

we work out what’s not relevant to delete as

quickly as possible?

Our clients aren’t waking up waiting for our free

report. They’re working out which of the 100

unread emails they can delete and get back to

work. It’s getting more competitive and the need

for innovative ways to stand out are more timely

than ever.

Go the glorious unicorn!

Scratching your head on where to start? How can

you inspire an extra shot of innovation into your

products and services? Here are five ideas you can

implement starting today.

1. DUMP THE PROVERBIAL BOX.

Rather than seeking to think outside the box,

imagine it doesn’t even exist. Start with a whole

new perspective, if this didn’t exist, what could you

create? Einstein said “To raise new questions, new

possibilities, to regard old problems from a new

angle requires creative imagination…” And isn’t

that true? Take Jobs, instead of thinking of ways to

make CD’s smaller or more scratch resistant, he

dumped the whole idea and came up with the

IPOD. What things can you stop trying to improve

and totally recreate how they’re delivered?

2. GET OUT OF YOUR WAY AND STOP

COMPARING.

Yep, we’ve done the trainings and we know better

and this should be a given. Ask yourself honestly if

you’ve really learnt this lesson or just heard it and

nodded. It inevitably comes up in many mentoring

sessions, the old “but I haven’t yet…” Anthony Jay

said "The uncreative mind can spot wrong answers,

but it takes a very creative mind to spot wrong

questions." and aint it the sucky truth we can be so

good at pointing out what we haven’t learnt yet or

what we can’t do yet. Get that yard stick you’re

measuring yourself against others with and give

yourself a good whack.

MASTERMIND MATTERS

The Successful Coach Magazine | Issue #5 | March 2014

22

Everyone starts somewhere, some believe in their

lack of experience and don’t move on. Others

embrace it and use it to drive them further.

3. EMBRACE THAT PASSIONATE CHILD LIKE

CURIOSITY!

“Great is the human who has not lost his childlike

heart.” said Mencius. And rightly so! Look at your

clients with the eyes of a playful five year old as

though for the first time. How do they tick, what

are they saying that’s more than their words.

What do you notice repeatedly is an issue that

leaves them flat and what gets them energised?

How can you innovate around this to give them

what they want?

4. ADD A BIT OF QUIRK

"When all think alike, then no one is thinking."

Waltern Lippman We go through years of

education being taught “the right answer” where

can the growth come from that mentality? We’re

creating an agreeable bunch of drones where

growth cannot happen. Yes, of course I’m a big

advocate for don’t reinvent the wheel, and yes,

think of funky ways to make your wheel stand out!

Draw attention and add the quirky memorable

factor.

5. SHOUT ABOUT IT FROM THE

ROOFTOPS.

“An idea that's BOLD is worthless until SOLD!”

proclaims Don Snyder, it’s the bleeding obvious,

and still needs to be emphasised. Be as innovative

as you like, if you don’t wholeheartedly believe in

what you’ve created, enough to know your avatar

simply must have this right now and you’re willing

to shout it from the rooftops, well then good luck

with that. If you have an innovative idea, product

or service that will shake the world, get sharing it!

6 MONTHS IN AND RUNNING MY OWN WORKSHOP. WOW! SOMEWHERE IN THE DEPTHS OF

MY PSYCHE I ALWAYS KNEW I WANTED TO DO THAT.

I always wanted to inspire and empower.

I have learnt through this coaching journey that to do that for others I absolutely have to do it for myself.

As within so without. Whatever is going on out there is a complete reflection of where I am in myself. So

that is where my journey truly began. I began by building on myself and continue to do so.

After being coached quite a bit, I was a bit of a junky there for a minute, I have built a foundation that will

serve as a jumping off point for the steps before me. I have learnt about language, beliefs and values. I have

learnt about being kinder to myself and giving myself the “you go girls!” that are imperative on a journey

such as this.

Perhaps the biggest lesson I have discovered is that of focus which is really at the

root of everything. There are so many choices out there of what to focus on.

So many things trying to grab our attention... Facebook, TV, other people’s opinions. All of it culminating

into what we end up experiencing in our lives. In the end it can lead us away from what we truly want and

who we truly are. Disconnect us from our own selves. This leaves us more susceptible to living how other

people believe we should instead of listening to our own intuition and creating our own lives on our

terms.

I have found that when I focus on a problem or issue then it seems to get worse. I have learnt that

changing the subject in my head to one that is working out for me or doing something that makes me feel

good gets me away from the issue. More times than not the issue seems to just work out. It’s really quite

magical.

The easing up of focusing on what I don’t want has given me

more of what I do want.

It makes what I do want clearer and the path to get there more obvious. I can think ‘what if things don’t

work out’ or I can think ‘how awesome when they do’. I know what feels better so I go with that. Through

the feeling of things working out and focus of my purpose and the why I am on this journey I have a much

smoother ride and it’s a joy rather than an effort.

I can now catch myself very early on a negative thought process and bring myself out of it. I check in with

how I’m feeling much more and so can tell where my thoughts and language are at. I have completely

dropped words out of my vocabulary which didn’t serve me. So much so that I can’t remember them to

tell you what they were.

I have learnt that what I think counts and that my life is just that.

My life.

I can create any manner of manifestations I choose. I am a master at manifesting what I desire and

continue to grow in this. It is my promise to myself that I will stay on this path and forevermore be keenly

interested in my connection with self and my focus on the way I feel. That my friends is what brings the

good stuff in. The more I master and the more I learn will be shared with those around me and in

workshops I run to get as many people into alignment as possible. That, is my purpose. Why? Because

the more people who are in alignment with their true selves the faster this planet will get to the joy and

bliss that is coming our way.

Inspiring Innovations…

AUTHORS DARCY SMYTH, WOW Team Student Support

This week I learned an incredibly

important lesson through an

experience that I’m now thankful

for though I didn’t realise it at the

time.

This lesson wasn’t anything I learned on a webinar,

in training or even during a direct coaching session,

it was a self-inflicted lesson that I learned when I

decided to stop growing. I know what you’re

thinking, it was a shock to me too, but trust me it

gets better…

The value of growth is huge for us as coaches and

it is how to effectively and efficiently grow that we

either directly or indirectly pass onto our clients.

This week I unconsciously chose to stop growing

(just for a second, I swear!) and took my eyes off

what was important in this journey for me.

THE LESSON THAT I LEARNED WITH THIS IN

MIND IS THAT WHEN WE STOP GROWING

AND LACK DIRECTION, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT

TO FEEL FULFILLED.

What has made this such a valuable lesson is that I

needed to learn the true antidote to such a lack of

direction and that is to aim higher than I ever

thought I could reach. It is through this that I was

able to inspire myself again and with it returned the

fulfilment that I bring to my role every day.

When we are connecting with a higher goal,

mission and vision we will do whatever it takes to

make it work and it is when we are aligned with

this mission that innovations can be inspired to

reach the outcome we desire.

Having such a clear mission as a non-negotiable

compels us to become so much more than what

we are experiencing in the current moment and

allows us to become creative in how we live that

mission within ourselves and with others. It is

impeccable that we connect with WHY it is we do

what we do every day in order to remind

ourselves of our impact on this earth and the ripple

effect of where we direct our love and energy.

If you ever have a day, week or month that leaves

you feeling unfulfilled the ask yourself the question:

“Where can I step up to be the example of living

my mission and vision even more right now?” and

answer the question by taking action. Answer the

question by being the inspiration to others by what

you innovate and create. Answer the question by

walking the talk that you have always known is so

important. Alan Watts puts it perfectly when he

speaks about spending your time doing something

that doesn’t inspire us:

“You'll spend your life completely

wasting your time. You'll be doing

things you don't like doing in order to

go on living, that is to go on doing thing

you don't like doing, which is stupid.”

As coaches we need to choose commitment,

passion and purpose for what it was we want for

ourselves and others, or we can choose to stunt

our own growth instead and the choice is yours.

I’m off to go work on what the next three months

will have in stall for the community (hint: it’s pretty

exciting for our Meta Dynamics practitioners, and

it’s aligned with a really awesome vision and

mission)… Have a great week coaches!

the feeling that there was so much more…”

AUTHOR TRISH MARKS, Mastermind Member

I worked predominately in the sales industry and

was quite successful, I created a couple of

businesses one of which was a jewellery line and

sold that quite successfully for three years, the

other was a catering business with my husband,

however I always lived with the feeling that there

was so much more awaiting me...

It always seemed to be around the next

corner and kept eluding me for many

years, I kept on looking for that one

thing that would fulfil me.

THEN I DISCOVERED TCI.

My first point of contact was Fiona; she answered

all my questions and I made the decision during

that conversation that this was something I should

look into a lot more.

My intake weekend was in November 2012 with

Joe Pane, who I think is absolutely awesome.

During that weekend Joe did a coaching

demonstration and I was lucky enough to be the

chosen one.

From that moment on TCI has played a major part

in my personal growth and development. Since

then I have successfully completed multiple

coaching trainings and certifications with TCI. All

the trainings are outstanding; the Meta Dynamics

Level III / NLP Trainers’ Training was one of the

best gifts I could have given myself.

I remember the crew at my Foundations of

Coaching Success training, especially Mary- Anne,

she was awesome, so I took the opportunity to

crew in many of the trainings I have completed.

“I always lived with CELEBRATING SUCCESS

I WANTED TO BE THERE FOR SOMEONE

WHO WAS AT THE START OF THEIR

JOURNEY AND PAY THAT FEELING

FORWARD. I WILL CONTINUE TO CREW AS

THE EXPERIENCE IS PRICELESS AND IT’S

ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO BE IN THE

ROOM AGAIN WITH JOE, JOHNNIE AND SP.

I remember getting my first paying client. I was so

excited I jumped up and down like a crazy woman

and shouted “I have made it”. Nowadays it’s just a

given that I will have a paying client.

The first time I chose to create retainers was

because Sharon Pearson said that was what she

did. So I just do what Sharon does and I know it

will take my coaching business to a whole new

level and put me a position where I am consistently

assisting and serving others.

I work a lot with women who are starting up new

businesses or need help with taking their existing

business up a notch, which is very rewarding and I

know the difference now is being very clear on

‘WHY’ they are doing it and the ‘HOW’ is easy to

work out. I also run a successful monthly business

network for women.

Modelling Sharon Pearson has assisted

me in developing a business that has

great financial rewards.

Being part of the TCI community with all the

training that is available to you and the support is

phenomenal, then there’s what I call the nudge

factor.

They always celebrate your success with you and

then give you a little nudge that will always result in

you finding within yourself more Certainty, more

Love, more Gratitude, or whatever it is you need

to make the difference to you and your client’s

world.

THAT’S WHAT TCI CREATES;

Awesome Coaches...

Awesome Community.

This is the place where students come together and join forces as we move

towards the common goal of working with paying clients. Recently we have

helped over 50 students work with their first paying client ever. I personally

love the journey of learning to work with paying clients for 2 reasons…

1. The personal journey we must go on to see

enough value in ourselves, to then say ‘This is what I am worth’,

is so amazingly valuable and life changing for the students that love it. It’s not

just about getting paid, it’s who you need to BE to succeed in your journey.

2. When your clients choose to invest in themselves, the game changes. Clients go from ‘show me what you got’, to ‘show me

where to go, I’m ready’. The results your clients get go through the roof, all

because through paying for their coaching they are saying ‘this matters, a lot’.

To be a part of this challenge all you need to do is log onto the Members of

The Coaching Institute Facebook page, head to the files section and

download the challenge enrolment form.
