What is The Success Profiler?

Overview

The Success Profiler is an assessment and skill intervention system addressing social/emotional learning and development related to the workplace. The Success Profiler—Corporate Version has 20 core assessments and 30 related assessments. The Success Profiler—Education Version has 16 core assessments and 30 related assessments. There are 9 individual profiles in The Success Profiler—Corporate Version and 6 profiles in The Success Profiler—Education Version. These programs are available in several different versions. Education Version 1 has an 8th-10th grade reading level, Education Version 2 has a 4th-5th grade reading level, and the Symbolic Version is designed as an instructor-led course. The content and format for each version does not change.

Rather than attempting to address the knowledge and skills related to the above topics (as competing systems do), the system focuses on the emotional intelligence needed for success in these key areas. If barriers are identified, the system provides skill enhancement to remove those barriers. Each assessment was developed to provide users with a map or personal guide for growth and change related to the topic addressed. Each assessment helps individuals become more aware of their strengths as well as areas where personal growth is needed. Each profile is managed through a comprehensive management system. Each Profile includes an Introduction, an Individual Profile, and the following assessments: Winning Colors, Personal Skills Map—Long Version (244 items) and Personal Skills Map—Short Version (84 items), as well as specific assessments related to each profile.

Profile Assessments There are 20 core assessments and 30 related assessments. Personal Skills Map is a core assessment tool used in each profile in The Success Profiler. It is an assessment of social/emotional learning. Social/emotional learning is a learned ability to identify, experience, understand and express human emotions in healthy and productive ways. Emotional intelligence or EQ skills are primary factors to motivation and the gateway to life-long learning and high levels of achievement. Scales in the Personal Skills Map are: Self-Esteem, Interpersonal Assertion, Interpersonal Awareness, Empathy, Drive Strength, Decision Making, Time Management, Sales Orientation, Commitment Ethic, Stress Management, Physical Wellness, Interpersonal Aggression, Interpersonal Deference, and Personal Change Orientation. Winning Colors is another assessment tool that is used in each of the profiles. Winning Colors will help all users learn to examine behaviors based upon four learned personality traits. These traits are Brown or Builder, Green or Planner, Blue or Relater and Red or Adventurer. Vision Description Forms help create the vision, whether it be for change, leadership, or teams. Without clear vision, these efforts will fail.

The Commitment Map assesses the commitment level of people who are key to the change process. The higher the score, the greater the risk of failure the organization may expect. This instrument reflects the level of commitment the organization can expect from its change sponsors. The Synergy Map assesses the levels of skills that are important in building synergy in the change process possessed by the change advocates. This assessment reflects the risk an organization will take if the key members do not have the personal skills required to be successful in what they are being asked to do. How well can they work together? The Impact Map helps to determine the effectiveness of key personnel in selling the change process. The Impact Map is a tool that can be used by any member of an organization to assess the change agents’ abilities to sell the change process to others. The Resistance Map helps determine where resistance to change will come from. This instrument reflects the level of resistance that an organization can expect from those involved in the change process. The higher the score, the greater the risk of failure to complete the change process. The Cognitive Map is a learning styles assessment. The scales are: Visual Language, Visual Numerical, Auditory Language, Auditory Numerical, Kinesthetic Learner, Individual Learner, Team Learner, Oral Feedback and Written Feedback. The Leadership Skills Map is a positive approach to the self-assessment of skills that are important to leading a group of people. Scales include: Character, Charisma, Attitude, Competence, Courage, Accomplishment, Problem Resolution, Conflict Resolution, Vision, Focus, Assertion, Empathy, Influence, Motivation and Nurturance. The Leadership Skills Survey is a 360° assessment. The Leadership Skills Survey is an external rating system, which means the rating is done by someone who knows the individual. It is intended to validate the skills of the person taking The Leadership Skills Map.

The Sales Success Map is an assessment that is found only in the corporate version of The Success Profiler. This assessment helps to identify common characteristics and resulting behaviors of high-achieving sales professionals. Scales include: Achievement Drive, Contact Initiation, Time Management, Self-Esteem, Rapport, Empathy, Presentation, Impact, Feedback Management, Closing and Service Management. The Sales Success Survey is a 360° assessment. This survey is an external rating system, which means the rating is done by someone who knows the individual. It is intended to validate the skills of the person taking The Sales Success Map. The Violence Prevention Map is a tool to gauge how individuals view themselves in relation to violence. The total score is a predictor of how individuals view their own abilities to control their behavior and get along with other people, especially in potentially stressful, hostile, or threatening situations. The higher the score, the less the risk of violence. The Violence Prevention Survey is a 360° assessment. This survey is an external rating system, which means the rating is done by someone who knows the individual. It is intended to validate the skills of the person taking The Violence Prevention Map. The Violence Prevention Group Survey is a tool to gauge how a group views itself in relation to violence. The total score is a predictor of how members of a group view their overall feeling of safety in their organization. It will give the organization a picture of how all those completing The Violence Prevention Group Survey feel about the potential for violence in their organization. Scales are listed in three parts. Part One, Physical Plan and Policies, includes Screening Process, Policies, Physical Facilities, Training and Preparedness, and Culture. Part Two, People, includes ratings for Management Skills, Classmates or Co-Workers and Stress. Part Three is a rating for the Overall Risk of Violence. The Integrity Map assesses key traits necessary for successful leadership and team building. The skills assessed are: Trust, Consistency, Commitment, Responsibility, Confidentiality, Teamwork, Sharing, and Honesty.

The Sensitivity Map is a tool to help individuals to understand how they relate to some of the core traits of sensitivity. It focuses first on individual sensitivity, or intrapersonal sensitivity and then on sensitivity to others or interpersonal sensitivity. It also provides a basic overall rating of sensitivity. The scales are listed in three parts. Part One, Self, includes Self-Esteem and Intrapersonal Awareness. Part Two, Others, includes Interpersonal Awareness, Empathy, Spontaneity of Emotions, and Intimate Contact. Part Three is an Overall Rating of Sensitivity. The Sensitivity Survey is a 360° assessment. This survey is an external rating system, which means the rating is done by someone who knows the individual. It is intended to validate the skills of the person taking The Sensitivity Map. The Customer Service Map is an assessment tool to help identify common characteristics and resulting behaviors of high-achieving customer service professionals. By completing this map, individuals gain an insight into how they see themselves currently applying skills that are known essentials for a high-achieving customer service professional. The scales are divided into two areas. Personal Skill Dimensions include Achievement Drive, Contact Initiation, Time Management and Self-Esteem. Customer Contact Dimensions include Rapport, Empathy, Presentation, Impact, Feedback Management, Closing and Service Management. The Customer Service Survey is a 360° assessment. This survey is an external rating system, which means the rating is done by someone who knows the individual. It is intended to validate the skills of the person taking The Customer Service Map.

Unmanaged The software can be used in either the unmanaged or managed mode. The unmanaged mode allows users to quickly access all activities other than the Surveys. Keep in mind that in the unmanaged mode, results can be printed before leaving the program, but no results will be saved. The unmanaged activities have the following limitations: • No records are saved • There is no electronic connection from the

assessments to the skill enhancements. • The Personal Skills Map–Short Version results are not

as accurate as the Long Version

To run the program in the Unmanaged Mode, go to the Start Menu. Select The Success Profiler, then select User Login.

Type in the user’s first name and press enter. Type in the user’s last name and press enter. Click the Unmanaged button to launch the unmanaged activities.

Once logged in, you will need to choose which version of the software you would like to access? Only the versions that you have purchased will be available.

Education Version 1 has a reading comprehension level of 8th to 10th grade and include full audio. Education Version 2 has a reading comprehension level of 4th to 5th grade. Education Version 2 has simplified concepts, less reading, and full audio. Education Version 2 is for an audience with limited reading skills and attention span. The Symbolic Version is a simple summary of each unit in the Education Version 2 of the program with less reading and more graphics, intended to be projected on a wall for instructor-led activities. Each screen is referenced to follow a print version of the product. Corporate Version has a reading comprehension level of 8th to 10th grade and includes full audio. The Instructor-led Course is a simple summary of each unit in the Corporate Version of the program with less reading amore graphics, intended to be projected on a wall for instructor-led activities. Each screen is referenced to follow a print version of the product.

Next, you will see the Main Menu.

From here, you can access the Profiles Menu, Skill Enhancement Menu and Listening Activities Menu. Select the Profiles Menu to begin. From here you can access any Profile, Winning Colors, Personal Skills Map – Long Version, Personal Skills Map – Short Version, and Personal Success System. Keep in mind the Education Version of The Success Profiler does not include the Customer Service Profile, the Hiring Profile or the Sales Profile. Only profiles that were purchased will be available.

Managed The management system is important because it is the administrative report writing system, tracking system, and accountability tool for the program. 360° Assessment. These are the surveys that can be taken by an individual who knows that person. Results between the individual learner’s results and the 360° assessments can be compared. Administration Manual. The Administration Manual is the print version of the manuals in a PDF format. Administration Program. This provides access to the Administration Program of The Success Profiler. Corporate Catalog. This is a catalog of the corporate versions of our products. Education Catalog. This is a catalog that has information on the education versions of our product. Print Materials. Print Materials are provided to be a supplement to the program. These Print Materials are broken into User Workbooks and Individual and Group Activities. Quick Start Guide. The Quick Start Guide is a short manual that provides information on how to install and run the software. System Information. This provides general technical information on the system for technical support. Training Videos. This is a link to our website where we have training videos on how to use the system. These training videos are intended to self-instructional and can be accessed at anytime on any computer that has access to the Internet. User Login. This is the login that the learner will use to log in to the system.

Administrator Logon To launch the Administration Program go to the Start Menu. Select The Success Profiler, then select the Administration Program option.

The Administrator Logon Screen appears.

The default Administrator password is set to conover. After typing conover at the Administrator Password prompt, press the Enter key. For security purposes you will not be able to see the characters that are being entered.

Once the Administrator Password has been correctly entered, the Main Menu will appear.

Entering a User To enter users in the management system, select the Create Users button to bring up the Enter User Information screen.

Enter the user's first name. Then enter the user’s last name. Next a unique User ID must be entered. This ID can have up to 15 characters, and it is limited to letters and numbers. The use of non-alphanumeric characters is not allowed.

If you want to view a list of the users who are currently entered into the system, click the View Current Users in System button. This will bring up a list of all users and user IDs that have been entered. You will be asked if would like to print the list of users when you click the button to exit the list.

Enter the user's group. This field is used to group information for reporting purposes.

User Login To run the User Login program, go to the Start Menu and select The Success Profiler. Select User Login.

The User Login screen appears.

Users are prompted to type in their first name, last name, and user ID. Press the Enter/TAB key to move to the next field. For security purposes, the characters will not be seen as they are entered.

The User name and ID must be valid before a user is allowed to enter the program. This ensures that all data for the end user is stored correctly. If the User Name and ID are not valid, the program displays a message, and the user should contact the Administrator.

Once valid information is entered, users will view the video introductions for the program. After the video introductions, this screen will appear:

Buttons for all of the profiles and The Personal Skills Map are present, but users can only access the buttons that correspond to the activities assigned by the Administrator. These buttons are highlighted. If additional activities are desired, users must contact the Administrator and ask that these additional activities be assigned. To continue in the program, users must click an active button to run a specific profile.

Users Menu Selecting the Users option from the Main Menu brings up the Users Menu. The four choices on this menu are:

Create Users This option allows user information to be entered (name, ID, department, job title) and assigns profiles, Personal Skills Map or Skill Enhancement activities. Modify Assignments allows assignments already made for a user to be modified. This function will also modify Skill Enhancement activities for each user, but this cannot be done until at least one assigned profile has been completed.

Delete Users This option allows users to be completely removed. Use this function only when the data for the user in question will no longer be needed. Modify User Information This option allows a user’s information that is already in the system to be modified.

Reports Menu Selecting the Reports option from the Main Menu causes the Reports Menu to appear. There are 12 choices on this menu:

By User allows information on an individual user in the system to be displayed. A comprehensive report or a summary of what a user has completed can be viewed. By Date allows information for all users on a specific date to be viewed. By Group displays information on all of the users who are in a specific class. By Profile allows information for all users who have completed one of the individual profiles. Personal Skills Map Group Average compares all users to each other and provides the group average scores for each area. Change Management Assessment Summary allows information on all users to be viewed and easily compared to other users and the overall average for all users on each assessment in The Change Profile.

The following surveys are 360° assessments. These assessments are to be completed by persons who know the user and the user’s present set of skills. Customer Service Skills Appraisal and Review provides feedback on how other people view a user’s customer serivce skills as assessed by The Customer Service Skills Map and shows group and individual ratings for the user. Leadership Skills Appraisal and Review provides feedback on how other people view a user’s leadership skills as assessed by The Leadership Map and shows group and individual ratings for the user. Sales Skills Appraisal and Review provides feedback on how other people view a user’s sales skills as assessed by The Sales Map and shows group and individual ratings for the user. Sensitivity Skills Appraisal and Review provides feedback on how other people view a user’s sensitivity/diversity skills as assessed by The Sensitivity Map and shows group and individual ratings for the user. Violence Prevention Skills Appraisal and Review provides feedback on how others view a user’s violence prevention skills as assessed by The Violence Prevention Map. Violence Prevention Group Skills Appraisal and Review allows information to be viewed on all users in a group related to violence prevention issues within a school or organization.

Change Password allows the password for access to the management system to be changed. Make sure to record the new password for your reference. Logout Users allows the program administrator to log users out when they do not log out of the system properly. If users do not log out correctly, they will not be able to get back into the system at the place they left off. The Logout User option will get them back to the right place. Modify File Locations allows for the selection of the proper location to install the data and media files. Multiple Profiles allows the program administrator to give users of multiple profiles the option to bypass Winning Colors, The Personal Skills Map, and The Personal Success System if they have already taken these assessments in another profile. Delete Group allows groups to be deleted, but does not delete the individual user accounts within those groups. Export User Data allows data on the users in The Success Profiler to be exported to an external source. Import User Data allows user data to be imported from another source into the Management System. Set Program Access allows the activation or deactivation of any program within The Success Profiler. Manage Serial Numbers allows the program administrator to enter the serial numbers purchased into the management system. These serial numbers grant workstations access to the software. It is only necessary to enter the serial numbers once when the software program is installed. Batch Import Users allows a batch import of users from a properly formatted text file. This allows users to be entered without having to manually type in all of their information. See the Administration Manual for additional information on these program options.
