The students of AMM School gathered on the 26th of January to

celebrate the nation's 66th Republic Day.

The event started with a welcome address by the Assistant Head Boy.

The National flag was hoisted by our principal Mrs. Mahalakshmi

Ramalingam . The message of republic India was spread among the

students through a skit by the juniors, who spoke about the

importance of the Indian Constitution, how it came into being and

also the role of Dr Ambedkar . The event culminated with the

National anthem.

Sports day for classes 5-12 was conducted on the 31st of January, with Dr.Sailendra

Babu IPS as the chief guest. The event began with the prayer song. This was followed by the

march past, which was led by the school band, the school captains, the RSP, and the 4 houses-

Bharathi, Gandhi, Nehru and Tagore. After this, we had the lighting of the torch, and our head

boy, Vi.R.Akash, welcomed the gathering. There were three drills that took place that evening.

First, the students of classes 5, 6 and 7 took part in a drill with balls attached to their hands.

They arranged themselves in a variety of formations, which was delightful for the parents to

watch. Then came the gun drill by the students of classes 8 to 10. They were perfectly

synchronised, as they marched smartly to the beat. Finally, we had the much awaited dragon

drill. This was the first time a drill had been conducted in Tamil Nadu with a fifty metre long

dragon. The audience ooh-ed and aah-ed as the dragon swayed from side to side, controlled by

the dragon master. Needless to say, the show was a grand success. There were games conducted

for the parents and the non-teaching staff, which proved that every adult is still a kid at heart.

We also had the inter-house relay. Finally, it was time for the much-awaited prize distribution.

Tagore house won the march past. Nehru house bagged the over-all shield, and Gandhi house was

the runner up. The house members’ cheers were deafening. The day came to an end with the

National Anthem.

Project Day 2015, GanithAMMritham, was conducted on the

27th and the 28th of February for classes LKG to XII. The

classes put up various exhibits centred around mathematical

topics. Dr. Srinivasa Rao, the director of the Ramanujam

Institute of Mathematics was the chief guest for the event.

Classes IIIB and VIII B were the proud winners.

The Primary Inter house drama this year was centred on stories of

wit an d humour. The four houses presented plays based on the

stories- Tenali Raman, Akbar & Birbal, Sheik Chilli and Mulla

Nazaruddin. Bharathi House bagged the first place for their gripping

performance of Akbar & Birbal, while Gandhi House won second

place for their Tenali Raman play. Sharan and Nakshatra (IV B) of

Gandhi House won the best actor and actress awards respectively.

The fourteenth of March is celebrated world over as International Pi

day, because when the date is written in the American format, it

resembles the value of pi (3.14).

Our school too partook in the celebrations. Classes five and six

participated in a competition where the students had to make nets

of solids using the four basic operations.

Class seven students tried their hand at crossword puzzles.

There was a fascinating lecture by Dr Srinivasa Rao, Director,

Ramanujam Institute of Mathematics for the students of class 8

The Primary Annual Day

The primary annual day took place on the 11th of April, with

Mr. Bhavani Shankar, Senior Principal , Omega

thoroughly enthralled by the two plays- The Sound of Music

took part in The Sound of Music. It was a great musical

experience, as the audience travelled down the memory

lane. Maria and the Captain took the audience by storm with

their marvelous acting skills. 155 students of classes 1 to 4

acted in the play, Vikramaditya. The classical tale of the

brave king Vikramaditya and the spirit of Betal came alive

on our stage, and was a delight to our eyes. The children’s

theatrical talent put big smiles on every parents’ face.

clad in their robes and hats ready to receive their certificate as the

proud parents looked on.. Dr Prema Srinivasan was the chief guest
