During this orientation, we
will review Boggess and Kindergarten information.
We will give you time to ask

Each classroom schedule
is different due to Big Centers time.
Everyone has recess,
lunch, and specials at the same time daily.

Bengal Creed Super “Bee”-havior- -Be Kind -Be Careful -Be Caring
Bengal Bucks-We earn these for quality work, excellent behavior, etc. We save them and purchase coupons for various Boggess privileges from our Bengal Buck Store.
Bengal Brags Student of the Week-”Celebrity
of the Week”
R-Time-This is a school wide program where we teach, practice, and discuss good citizenship. (PTA purchased program)
Bus/Daycare Front and Back Carpool Lines-
Have paper signs visible to the caller (child’s name and grade), we bring your child to your car. Front=K, 1st, 2nd only Back=must have 3rd, 4th, or 5th sibling
Bike Riders/Walkers-Students are dismissed from our side Kindergarten door. No child is released at the walker door until an adult presents their child’s walker tag to a kindergarten teacher. (If the nametag is not shown, we will have to dismiss the student through the office using your driver’s license.) Older siblings may also pick up using the pink card.
PASAR-This is our afterschool child care here at Boggess.

Eye Dry Run date was incorrect. The new date is Wednesday, August 17th.
Fun Fantastic Fridays-Once a month we have parent volunteers help facilitate fun activities in Kindergarten. The kids (and parents) LOVE it!
Parties-Winter, Friendship, and End
of the Year
Recess-We go out every day, weather
permitting. Please dress appropriately. We have our own playground.
Show and Tell Bags-These will be
sent home on occasion with directions. We rotate turns.
Not-So-Fun Toys-We ask that
all toys remain at home. This rule is in the handbook, with the exception of teacher directions for an activity (Celebrity of the Week, Show and Tell Bags, etc.)
Weekly Homework-Based on what we do in the classroom (comes home Monday and is due Friday)

ReadyRosie is a free program with activities to do at home for ages birth
to 6 years. There is a flier in your registration packet or you can sign up on the
Boggess Website.
Clothes-Please have your child bring an extra change of clothes to keep in his/her locker. Please label your clothes. Wearing tennis shoes is encouraged for interaction at specials and on the playground. Many girls feel more comfortable wearing shorts under their skirts and dresses.
Backpacks-Folders should fit easily. Please do not purchase backpacks with wheels as they do not fit in our lockers.
Snack Time-It is five minutes. Instruction continues. It comes from home and must be healthy, dry and neat. It should not require utensils and children should be able to open it independently. Water bottles are permitted.
Lost and Found-We have two locations, the gym and Kindergarten.
If sending money to school for lunch, PTA purchases, book orders, etc., please
place it in a sealed envelope with your child’s
name and put it in your student’s take-home
folder.
Students use their ID number to charge their lunch.
If you are bringing a lunch from home, please provide a drink and the needed utensils.
We have barcoded “necklaces” that we scan to help us, but learning their code is highly encouraged.
We love visitors, but please allow us time to establish our lunch procedures. Please plan your lunch visits starting in October.
Salad Bar? In the past, there has
been a salad bar where the students have to verbalize
the items they want on their salad. If this option
is available this year, please have your child
practice communicating their wants.

Raptor System-You must enter
through the office. Any adult MUST have a badge to be in the school. If you do not have a badge, a staff member will ask you to return to the office to receive one.
Background Check-All
classroom/field trip volunteers must complete the district’s volunteer application and background check. It can take a few weeks to process. (The earlier the better!)
The first day of school is the only exception! You
may walk your child down without a badge the first day of school. After that, you must wait in line for a
badge.
