The trip to my hotel is extremely fast. There are lots of people and I hear many languages, it’sreally cool. At my hotel I eat dinner and go to bed. In the morning I walk alone around the city andthen out into the country. In the country I see a huge tunnel that at first looks scary, but I decide togo in anyway.

As I step in I realize that the tunnel is super tiny, but I can see the other side. I decide the onlyway to go is forward. As I crawl through the tunnel, I realize there is a grand opening in the cavethat I think is the end. Suddenly, I step out into a huge maze. Again I decide the only way to go isforward so I step into the maze and get to the middle by taking three right turns.

In the maze I step into the center. “Finally” I huff. As I think about going forward, I see a bunch oflarge bumps in the ground. I decide to dig into the ground and try to find whatever is in theground. As I dig up the biggest bump, I pull out a huge statue of what looks to be a king.

I rush back into town with the statue and start to say to the nearest man I see “do you...” Before Ican finish, he cuts me off and screams, “Amazing. Truly miraculous.” I am so amazed at mydiscovery (of whatever the heck this is) I shout out with joy. I want to see if it is really actuallyvaluable structure. “Seriously do you happen to know what this is, sir?”

He gasps as if this statue makes him short of breath. “That is the Statue of Gilgamesh.” I am sosurprised I found a piece of history that I almost forget that my plane takes off in ten minutes.

As I sprint through the airport I muscle my way through some people and my mom and I barelyhop on the plane before it takes off. I am so happy to be in the plane that I barely remember thestatue is still in my backpack. I hug it and then go to sleep. When I finally wake up we are all theway in Houston again.

Finally we get home and I start to study my statue. My statue has many cool features like theanimal in his arms. On my first day in school after my vacation, my Social Studies teacher says“and nobody has ever found the Statue of Gilgamesh.” “That is not true, I have it right here andhere is the story about the time I found the Statue of Gilgamesh.”
