HISTORY
In 1885 the company opened a
wholesale office in London,
England.
EASTMAN American Film was
introduced the first transparent
photographic "film" as we know
it today.
HISTORY In 1888 the name "Kodak" was
born and the KODAK camera
was placed on the market, with
the slogan, "You press the button
- we do the rest."
This was the birth of snapshot
photography, as millions of
amateur picture-takers know it
today.

In 1892 the company became
Eastman Kodak Company of
New York.

In 1895 the Pocket KODAK
Camera was announced. It used
roll film and incorporated a small
window through which
positioning numbers for
exposures could be read.

In 1900 the first camera was
advertised.
It was sold for 1.00 dollar, and
the film was sold for 15 cents.
WORLDWIDE EMPLOYMENT
1907 - employment passed the 5,000 mark.
1927 - employment passed the 20,000 mark.
1955 - employment reaches 73,000.
1962 - employment passed the 75,000 mark.
1966 - employment passed the 100,000 mark.
1973 - employment passed the 120,000 mark.

1959 - The number of Kodak share holders passed the 100,000 mark.
1962 - The company's U.S. consolidated sales exceeded $1 billion for the first time.
1966 - Combined sales of all Kodak units around the world surpassed $4 billion.
1969 - The number of share holders passed the 200,000 mark.
1981 - Company sales surpassed the $10 billion mark.
