LOST PROPERTY

There is an ever growing pile of un-

claimed lost items here at school; all will

be disposed of at the end of year.

Please encourage your child to check

Lost Property in the JSP Hub ASAP if

they have any lost items.

safe Christmas holidays.safe Christmas holidays.safe Christmas holidays.

We have arrived at the last week of school for 2016!

Our students and staff have been busy right until the very last day. In

their last week of school the Year 11s headed out to leadership camp

at picturesque Halliday Bay. This camp is a fantastic opportunity for

students to get out of their comfort zone and interact with other

students while challenging themselves emotionally and physically. The

five hour treasure hunt at the end of day three is a great test of

teamwork and stamina for the students and a test of patience for the

staff! Thanks to the wonderful purple team for letting me tag along.

Well done to all our students for representing your school with pride.

While the exhausted Year 11s packed up for their final day of camp,

Year 10 finished off their year

with a swim after teachers and

some enthusiastic Year 9 helpers cooked them sausages and made them

milkshakes for their last day of school.

Friday 25th November was

White Ribbon Day across the

nation and the United Nations

International Day for the

Prevention of Violence Against

Women. The Zonta Club of

Mackay held a breakfast to raise awareness of domestic violence

and recognise victims of domestic violence. Special guests included

the Mayor, State Member for Mackay and Detective Inspector Nikki

Colfs.

Year 7 Orientation

Day last week was a

huge success. In 2017 we have approximately 250 new Year 7s

joining our school. Despite feeling a little overwhelmed initially, the

students reported having a fantastic day. It was also great to see our

2017 senior leaders here to assist on the day. Again, the day uniform

is looking great and we look forward to our students wearing this

uniform in 2017.

On Friday afternoon

the Year 7 students

and staff held a

talent quest in the hall. At the conclusion of the talent quest the

students farewelled their Year Level Coordinator, Ms Katie Frize,

and thanked her all her hard work. In 2017, Mr Greg O’Neill will be

taking on the Year 7 Coordinator role, while Ms Elise Auriac will look

after these students in 2017 as the Year 8 Coordinator.

Farewell and best wishes to our staff who are leaving North at the

end of 2016 – Cheryl Johns, Shannon Potgeiter, Hayley McKinnon,

Katie Frize, Andrew Robertson, Lindsay Haines, Kate George and

Billy Gilbert. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to

North High students. Thank you also to the families who are leaving North as their youngest child finishes secondary

school! Finally, best wishes and safe travels to all our families over the Christmas break. See you in 2017!

Year 10’s Last Day 2016

On Friday 25th November, the Year 10 students enjoyed their last day with a surprise sausage sizzle,

spiders, milkshakes and then a swim in the pool. What made the day even more special was that the

Year 10 teachers volunteered their time during first break to serve the sausages and make the

milkshakes and spiders.

Special thanks go to the members Year 9 Dance class who assisted in preparing the BBQ and cooking

the sausages. Thanks goes out to the staff who helped organise this surprise for the Year 10 students.
