LADIES AID NEWS The August meeting of the St. Paul Ladies Aid was held in the school dining room on Thursday, August 6th. Yvonne opened the meeting with a devotion using a penny, which she gave each one of us, and did a quiz on it. No secretary's minutes were read, however Roll Call was taken and the balance in the treasury was given. Yvonne mentioned the volunteer picnic at the nursing home on August 19th, and the ladies who planned on attending raised their hands. Yvonne also talked about the LWML Rally to be held here at St. Paul on August 26th, and asked if the Ladies Aid would consider furnishing the plates & cups for the meal. A motion was made, seconded and passed that we would provide them. The meeting was closed with the table prayer and Lord's Prayer. Hostesses were Yvonne & Annette.

SCHOOL NEWS “Education Sunday” The school students, grades PreK-8th, will be singing on September 13th, 2015 during the 8:15 service for Education Sunday. The Board of Christian Education will be sponsoring the fellowship hour between services. Please mark your calen-dars!!! “Eat-Out-In-Manawa” The school will begin their annual fall fundraiser on September 10th. This year we will be offering Cruisin’In Pizza Cards, Cedar Springs Gift Cards and Keglers Gift Cards. Cruisin’In cards will be sold for $30. They will be good for three 2-topping pizzas. The Keglers cards will also be sold for $30. These cards will be redeemable for anything at Keglers Bowling Center, except the Pro Shop and League Fees. Cedar Springs Golf Course is also partnering with St. Paul this year. The Cedar Spring card will be sold for $30 and redeemable for all food and golfing, except League Play and Special Outings. The profits from this fundraiser will be used for textbook purchases and future technology needs. Cards are available from any St. Paul student as well as in the church/school of-fice. Supplemental funds are given from Thrivent #30071 “Grandparent’s Day” Friday, October 9 is Grandparents Day at St. Paul Lutheran School. All students are encouraged to invite their grandparents to school. The day will begin with classroom visits and activities at 10:00. At 10:30 the students and their grandparents will play bingo together in the lunch room. Then at 11:30, all students and grandparents will eat lunch together. This is an early release date, so chil-dren will be dismissed from school at 12:05. “Christmas Shoeboxes” Do you have the Operation Christmas Child project, collected by Samaritan’s Purse on your “to do” list for this fall? Now would be a great time to get a head start on those school supplies you plan to include in the boxes. All the stores are offering children’s school supplies at the best deal of the year, so why not take advantage of them and practice good stewardship besides. Collection will take place October 28-November 18, so this would really help you out to get this one project on your “done” list.

The school theme for the 2015-2016 is “Be Strong and Courageous”

from Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go

LWML NEWS The August 18th meeting of the LWML opened with the devotion “Praying the Psalms”. Brian Elmhorst led our Bible Study from the Quarterly entitled “Drinking from the Eternal Springs”. We cry out for relief from the increasing dryness within, filling our lives with “stuff” and endless activities. No matter the course and direc-tion of our lives, God’s eternal springs are forever and heaven-sent. We can drink daily through the study of His Word, through the Sacraments, and through our own personal devotions. Christ’s waters never recede. They never go dry. And they will fill us to overflowing by the power of the Spirit. Splash! Delight! Enjoy! The meeting was called to order. We welcomed Lori Elmhorst as a new member. Yvonne reported on visits made to shut-ins and bingo played at the Nursing Home. Final decisions were made in regard to the Fall Rally, which will be held at St. Paul on September 26th. A wonderful group of volunteers, consisting of Lori, An-nette, Yvonne, Janice, Georgia and Dorothy then ad-dressed, stuffed and stamped the invitations for the Fall Rally. Remember to bring your mites to the next meet-ing which will be September 15, 2015. Our Service Projects for the month are: Pray for the School Children and Teachers. Pray for the students going off to higher learning. Pray for Uganda. Pray for the sick and shut-ins. Pray for women seeking abortions to make the right

choices.
