Dear Parents:

Another SUPER WEEK filled with prayer, reflection, laughter, and fun. The major event was our school-wide field day; a day to play and release

those endorphins! As always, parent assistance is vital to the success of any and all our school events/activities. Thank you, parents for your time,

energy, talent, treasures, and cheerfulness. Super

job, Ms. Jensen and teachers and parents.

A morning prayer set the day in motion, First we had the annual WALK FOR HEARTS around Lake Eola; the walk together with HOOPS FOR

HEARTS… AND JUMPS FOR HEARTS…emphasized the importance of exercise for good health, AND at the same time, raised substantial

donation for the AMERICAN HEART

ASSOCIATION. How wonderful!

The day revolved around a myriad of super

events: running, jumping, sliding, climbing, skill/

speed games, and a little facial glamour (face painting) for the “younger set”. In addition to the usual flowers, stars, tiger paws, on the cheeks…

we had requests for full-face paintings …butterflies, cats, dogs, tigers, horses, clowns, dolphins, etc. The most unusual request was for a “PLUG” ???? The child wanted an

electrical outlet drawn on his forehead!? Hmmmm, a bit of a challenge to say the least. The result was a white square box, with two black slits on it! To

the relief of the “painter”, the boy said that it was “exactly” what he wanted! He delighted in walking around, lifting up his bangs, and showing off his

PLUG!

Kudos to Middle School students for

participating in a SCAVENGER HUNT that

was not only fun but educational as well. It involved skills such as observation, following

directives, math, reading, speed (mental and physical) and team work. Shout-outs to all the participants, but especially to CATE and KELLY for being the only team that came back with

a 14 out of 14 find! Bravo!

Field Day culminated in a basketball game

between the faculty and fifth grade students. Our own Fr. Nick was there to play on the students’ team. Great game – both teams!

Speaking of Fr. Nick, …he was of monumental assistance to one of our second graders. Fr. Nick just happened to be in the gym, taking down the

Eucharistic Miracle display when he stopped for a moment to watch the second graders hard at work rehearsing for their square dance

production. It seems that a little girl was saddened because her partner was absent… so Father Nick stepped in and ‘saved the day’ with some fancy

dosey- dohing ! Now, we all know that there are no such things as coincidences in life! Thank you Lord for having Fr. Nick there- - in the “nick of time”- - to bring joy and smiles to the children,

especially to one little girl. Now, we end with a quote to end all quotes: Field Day activities ended at Noon… The children

returned to their classrooms… An energetic first grader tugged at the teacher’s sleeve and said: “ARE WE GOING TO HAVE RECESS

TODAY”? Huh????? God bless the little

children!

Lovingly in Him who helps us plan and enjoy our

days,

Mrs. Gerri Gendall
