Let us pray today. Almighty ever-living God,

By whose gift we venerate in one Celebration

The merits of all the Saints,

Bestow on us, we pray,

through the prayers of so many intercessors,

An abundance of the reconciliation with you

For which we earnestly long.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Your Son,

Who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

One God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Choral Mass

Missa Super Dixit Maria

Hans Leo Hassler

The Cathedral Choir will be singing the Missa

Super Dixit Maria on 12 November 2017 at the

11:15 am Solemn Mass.

Hassler is considered to be one of the two fin-

est German composers of the Renaissance, and

he is often compared to Lassso in terms of cos-

mopolitanism and overall quality of repertoire.

Hassler is also compared to Palestrina in com-

posing melodic lines that are fluid in shape,

and in constructing balanced formal structures

with textures that unfold in logically satisfying

harmonic designs.
