HistoryThe Society of Remisiers (Singapore) was established in 1986 after the Pan Electric crisis. This historical event caused the Singapore stockmarket to be suspended for 3 days in late 1985 after a few stockbroking companies ran into financial difficulties. In an effort to re-assure the investing public, the Authorities started a ‘lifeboat’ fund to bail out the affected parties, and all Remisiers were made to contribute 25% of their commissions to the fund. There was a general outcry by the Remisier community which led to the formation of the Society in 1986

MembershipsMembership is open to all Remisiers in Singapore who are agents of member firms of the Singapore Exchange :

• Ordinary Membership - Open to all licensed and registered Remisiers in Singapore - Ordinary members shall have voting rights and can stand for election.• Associate Membership - Open to all licensed and registered trading representatives in Singapore who do not meet the requirements of ordinary membership. Associate members do not have voting rights and cannot stand for election.• Member - in - Retirement - Open to all trading representatives who were previously members of SRS for a minimum period of at least 12 months and had resigned from the stock broking industry. Retired members do not have voting rights and cannot stand for elections.

Fees Entrance Fee - $ 50 (one-time payment) Ordinary Membership - $ 120 per year Associate Membership - $ 120 per year Member -in - Retirement - $ 120 per year

All membership subscription fees shall be payable in the month of January each year
