Hi, and welcome to the first ever issue of “The Sims Sketch”, a monthly Ezine packed with simmy tips, reviews
and stories.
After spending hours “sick” off school creating graphics and writing articles till the keys on our keyboards broke,
this is finally the finished product.
This issue is packed with Sims material including-

Lot of the month! Congratulations to MomSonSimFun, for winning the first ever lot of the month! The winning lot is their Whitecap- A wave-inspired loft. We chose it as it stood out from the crowd and took skill to build. Well done MomSonSimFun! How did you get the idea? The idea for Whitecap branched off of the idea for my other lot using similar techniques: curves. The idea for that came when I happened to be thinking of what my dream house in real life might be like. I imagined a modern home with huge, curving roofs, like an enormous semicircle of sorts. However, I was faced with a dilemma: how to make it in The Sims 3. At the time, I wasn't very familiar with the constrainfloorelevation cheat for creating sloped roofs, but I vaguely remembered reading a tutorial a while back by Jisgr8 about it. I searched for the tutorial, and, after finding it and reading it, was able to make curves. This house got a great response from people, and I also really had a blast making it. I thought what if I make a whole series of homes like this? I tried to think of new ways that I could apply my knowledge and really challenge myself in terms of creating houses. I decided that a house in the shape of a wave would not only be a good challenge but also be very beautiful, and so I gave it a shot. The rest of the details just came as I went along. Whitecap was the end result.
Sim of the month! Congratulations to Lodi, for winning the first ever Sim of the month! The winning Sim is their Kazumi. We chose it as it looks really good and captures the theme of china wonderfully. Well done Lodi! Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a hold of Lodi, but would like to congratulate her on making a wonderful sim!

Hi simmers! This month it was real hard to pick a simmer of the month- as there are such creative and talented people out there. After searching amazingly good lots and wonderful stories, I found Skip45’s legacy,
A literature Legacy: Where stories combine.
The idea is fresh and original, move out of the way the Kiser Legacy, say hello to this new story.
Bethany’s characters are adorable and easily lovable- proved by her growing fan rate after just four legacy chapters. She has quite far to go until she reaches “Aoxa” standards, but I know her stories are getting there FAST.
As a newbie to stardom, I asked her what it was like being sort of famous. Modestly, she replied,
“It's amazing! To know people are actually
interested in my writing, it’s a great feeling. There are so many great story writers out there, that I honestly didn't think my story had any chance of becoming known. But then, when I see the
feedback and everyone's kind words, it truly makes my
day to know that people enjoy what I write.”
Her fans are as eager as ever to dig their teeth into another chapter of this wonderful legacy, here is what they had to say:

Think you had bad enough teen troubles? Well think
about having all of those troubles and being a mummy at
the same time! And I’m not talking about mummy as is
mother; I’m talking about the un-dead sort! Read on to
see what this can go like!
Dear Diary,
Hey I have decided to start a diary! I have a lot going in
my mind, and I cannot let anyone else know!
First of all, I just wanna say I do not like being a mummy.
I am the only mummy in my school. The worst thing is
that I cannot be un-mummified. My parents, their parents,
their parents’ parents, etc. have adopted children who
later were made mummies. If I am de-mummified, then I
will break the family tradition, and my dad will curse me.
I just wanna fit in a normal life. If I do that, then I may
have more friends, may be mocked less, and maybe have
Megan.
Megan is the most amazing girl in school. People have
say she is friendly, romantic, great at kissing, and more. I
have a big crush on her. The only problem is that she is
dating a guy named Jake. All the girls say that he is
charismatic, artistic, friendly, humorous, and all that good
stuff. I just wanna curse him so bad so I can have Megan.
But I have 2 good friends: Curtis Bitten-Witch who can
be Mean-Spirited to others, but she has my back no
matter what, and Gabriella Angler, who is an ex-girlfriend

Well, I have to go work on my homework now. Bye.

In the Garden with Mrs Cowplant

Gardening is only one of the many fantastical things to do in the Sims 3! Sims learn the gardening skill by reading books or tending to their plants. The gardening skill can also aid with the cooking skill. Better quality plants mean better quality food. But how do you garden?
4 STEP GARDENING GUIDE!
1. First of all you‟ll need your seed. You can find these around town, or use the seeds that are given to you when you first learn the gardening skill. Normal foods are also used as seeds.
2. Next you‟ll need to find a suitable planting area. Out the back of your Sim‟s home should do fine.

3. Now you have to go into your inventory. Click on the seed you want and choose „plant seed‟ or „plant many‟ and place your seed in your planting area.
4. Now all you have to do is take care of your plant. Plants will need to be tended to once a day for best results. The option to tend will appear at 5 am every morning. You can also fertilise your plants. Some higher-level plants must be fertilised in order for them to grow, and the better the fertiliser the better the quality of plant! No matter what you do, your plant will eventually die after a few days.
Plant Facts!
· Death Bushes will die after they are harvested, if a death flower is in your inventory it will save your sim from death (Excluding old age)
· Other special plants are Life Fruit, Money Tree and Flame Fruit. They are marked as special seeds and appear occasionally at secluded places around your Sim‟s world. The life fruit and flame fruit are two ingredients needed in the best sim foods. Life fruit also increases your Sim‟s lifespan by a few days.

Colours & Personality
Sims Fashion is the only article to tell you how you should dress your Sims. Your Sims don’t want to be dressed as if they were a piece of pixels. They want to have style and class like you and I.
So how to dress your Sims is the question. First thing that you need to think is what colours look good on my Sim? What type of person is my Sim? The Fashion Guide below is the way to go. It will tell you what colours are in and what colours are out.
Fashion Guide
The 1st step is to figure what category your Sim falls under, for example are they a sporty sim,
preppy sim, gothic sim, etc. You need to know
what their personality is before you move on.
Next you need to look at their complexion. Are they pale, tan, burnt, or dark? You also need to look at their muscle tone, and their weight.
For the pale/fair Sims I recommend to use colours such as orange, pink, purple. Colours which are bold.
For the tan coloured Sims I recommend colours such as light pastel colours. Like white, will suit them very well!
For the burnt/dark skin toned Sims I recommend, to wear contrast colours, golden, periwinkle, and like nice shades of blue would suit them. Bold primary colours also make Sims pop.
For the weight and muscle tone factor. This is an important factor to, when deciding what to wear. If your Sims are heavier then I suggest no tight clothes. Nice medium loose clothes will compliment them just fine. Remember always try to find a part of their body to stand out the most.
If your Sims are very muscular, I understand that you want to show them off. I suggest getting clothes that are tight, but not too tight.
Colour Profile
Here are some of the basic colours which you see most of the time.
White –It is the neutral colour. It almost compliments every skin tone, except if you are very pale. The colour white is more of a summer colour.
Black-The colour black is one of the most fashionable colours ever. It flatters any shape, size, and colour. Black is the colour that has been around since the fashion world first became what it is today. Black is more of the dramatic colour so if your sim is full of drama you have found the colour.
Red-Red is bold, loud and passionate. The colour red symbolizes love, romance and sometimes even violence. Red it a loud colour that draws people to you, or vice versa, in other words when you are wearing red, it’s more like saying “I’m right HERE!”
Pink-The colour pink, if gentle and soft, it is best known as the feminine colour. No wonder newborn girls wear pink? Pink is also a romantic colour, pink is a good colour to wear if you’re going to go on a date!
Purple-The colour purple is rarely found in nature. It is the type of colour that you would wear to look sophisticated. Purple is the smart colour. It represents luxury, royalty, and wealth. Purple is also a part of the romantic group, especially its lighter shades.
Blue-Blue is one of the most known and popular colours. Blue is more of a peaceful colour, it is more of tranquillity. I recommend this colour to those quiet Sims. Who are ever so peaceful, and not to those bouncing energetic Sims.
Green-Green is the colour of nature. Green is supposed to make you feel calm and fresh. Green is also the colour of greed, and money. So I think you know where this can lead up to.
Orange-Is a bright fun colour, for all those Sims full of energy. Orange is another colour that draws attention. Orange signifies health, energy, change and warmth. Orange is soothing too.
Yellow-Yellow is the warm fuzzy colour that makes you think of ducklings. Yellow is a cheerful colour, which can brighten your day! It is also one of the most difficult colours for the eye to process.
Brown-Brown is an earthy colour. It is also believed to be neutral. It compliments many people as black does. Brown is also a colour that you see in house decorating. 8
Along with the colours another important factor of choosing clothing is what your sim acts like. Are they preppy? If so then they should go more with the pinks then the blacks. Pastel colours would suite them incredibly well.
Personality Wise
As you know that in Sims and in reality, there are many different types of personalities. So I have come up with a list of personalities and what type of clothes that would look good on them.
Preppy Sims-Preppy Sims tends to have a cheerful attitude. Since they are so cheerful they are more likely to wear skirts, polo’s, and uniforms. Preppy Sims would look good in skinny jeans as well.
Sporty Sims-Sporty Sims are very energetic. I would see them more in tank tops, and shorts, t-shirts. They should be wearing comfortable clothing, which they easily can take a jog in.
Gothic Sims-Gothic Sims are the dark, emo type of Sims. It’s more like hail all darkness. Just because they are Goth doesn’t mean they can’t dress nice. I suggest long sleeves, and dresses that are not short. Long type of clothing would make them recognizable.
Rich Sims-They are the ones who achieve high valour. Rich Sims wear high class clothing. Clothing that makes you go “wow”. I suggest wearing dresses and heels if you’re a female. If you are a male then you should stick to expensive watches, and the brand name clothing.
Nerds-Nerds are unique they should be wearing classy glasses, and sophisticated shirts. Nerds can wear dresses too! Just make sure that they are not above the knee. Remember there are all sorts of types of Nerds.
When choosing an outfit for your sim please remember these factors:
Personality- it determines what type of Sim you have
Skin tone- So you can choose the right types of colours
Build- How is your sim built? Are they thin or chunky?
Muscle Tone- Are they muscular or not?
Interests- What are they interested in?
As I said before Sims want to look amazing just like you and I. Determining the colours and what kind of personality they have says a lot. These tips cannot only be applied to the Sims but also to reality. Remember Sims are like humans but they are made up of pixels. Stay tuned for the next article! Servo or Not??
Hi, I'm dolphinz2121, and this month’s major rumour is
whether Servo will make an appearance in The Sims 3 -
Ambitions.
In the original Sims, if one bought Livin' Large, they
received Servo. In The Sims 2, Servo was a robot found
in Open for Business expansion. It is basically a personal
(but costly) maid that can be recharged.
The simmers have missed Servo since the very beginning,
as seen here on Gamespot, June 5th, just three days after
the release.
On Mod The Sims, EsmereldaF made a servo costume
converted from TS2 just a few days before Ambitions
was announced.
However, this was a costume, and not the actual Servo.
Then Ambitions was announced, and people saw this
screenshot-
See that yellow robot there?
Then the trailer was announced, and in 1:12 - 1:14 you
could see the same person and robot.
Now you could see much more in detail the robot.
So, what do you think? Servo or not? You'll just have to
wait until June 1st to find out.

Now she needs to go and get a job. Why don’t you tell the people why you need a job? “Because I spent all my money on a big lot” Exactly. Now why don’t you head down to Doo Peas and see if they have any vacancies in the Journalism career? “Ok, I bet they’ll hire me as a weather woman or something like straight away” Yeah something like that...
“Nailed it!” You actually got weather woman? “Nope, Paper girl, get in there!” *face palm* Still at least its income. “Yeah Forty whole Simloans an hour!”

“I’m going to invite Xander round for a party.” Something tells me you’ll be the only two at that party.

“Bed BED BED!” It’s a good job your pretty.

“I think I’ve just wet myself” No your waters broke. “Should I get a plumber?” No. Now I’m gonna say this real simple. Baby. Coming. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!

“OH MY GOD I’VE NEVER BEEN IN SO MUCH PAIN!” It’ll all be worth it soon, so deep breaths. “Oh it better be” Congratulations it’s a girl, surprisingly you had a good pregnancy and the baby is fine. It has the brave trait, and I think it’s gonna be friendly too. Now what do you want to call it? “erm, Kyra!” Ok.
“Boy is Xander gonna be surprised tonight!” You didn’t call him? “Should I of?”

The stories and movies of late have not been particularly
awe-inspiring, I must say. It seems that people are
sacrificing decent imagination, spelling and grammar for
“shocking” dramas including inappropriate and frankly,
stupid content. I can't stand to see another “emotional”
story about cancer, abuse, or other depressing subjects.
Come on people, cheer up a bit! Where are all our lovely
story tellers of yore?
Anyway, onto the reviews. We begin with the “naughty teens all alone” series. The fact that 315 people have watched and 12 people have recommended this worries me. Is this really what people want to read? The story goes from the words “get ready to be f*****” and goes down and down a steep slope from there. Nasty stuff.
“Pushed up against the walls” is a story about a young
homeless girl who is invited to star in a movie. Nicely written,
a good decent read. But even though I usually have a good
grasp on plots, I find myself thinking: “What? Eh?” The
photos are a bit dodgy, and the imagery doesn't quite cut it,
but at least it's something different! I like it. Keep trying!
“Life as a vampire” Is a story about; you guessed it, a vampire. The tagline is: “This story is about a vampire searching for what she needs most, she's not like any stereotypical vampire, her senses are better than ever and so are her emotions. Read about her "human" life style and enjoy her view on life.” Blegh. Not only is the story monotonous and somewhat typical, it's badly written too. Capitals, commas? It all distracts from the story. But then again, so could an asparagus.
So my tips this week for the aspiring writer are:
-Don't go for the obvious, mix it up a bit!
-Type it up first and spell/grammar check it.
-Take interesting, relevant screenshots, but remember; it's
not the main thing.

traits? But building homes you can add your touch to it,
but it's a big commitment.

game is trying to make them happy.

“What are you two up to?” asked Tiger while throwing a ball.
“Planning fairy watching for the party.” They said together. “There are a lot of fairies around here and we were thinking of the best ways to get them here.”
“Fairy watching!?” exclaimed SimmerofSims. “But there‟s no such thing as fairies. Anyway, we have decided it should be a sport party.”
Everybody else was there when Kamcil walked into her new home. They were all congregated around the TV, planning a party. “We are going to throw a party to celebrate the release of the first issue of The Sims Sketch.” Babybuzzing said. Kam quickly went over and joined them.
“If we put the food over there they should be around at about the time of the party.” Beathanwhy said to Baby. “Yes and if we use lettuce we should get quite a lot because they really like that.” Baby replied.
“Well it‟s not up to you!” shouted Baby. They glared at each other for 10 minutes until Beathanwhy finally broke the silence. “Fine. You have your sports; we‟ll have our fairy watching.”
“FINE!”
George walked into the house after having gone shopping for the party. “Hi, I‟m back”
“I thought you had gone shopping.” Said Cookie Dough as she stirred something in a pot.
“I did.” He replied. “I bought popcorn. Everyone likes popcorn. There was too much for me carry so they are bringing it over in a lorry. Ah! There it is now.” He said, pointing out the window.
“So how much did you buy?” asked Cookie. “5 boxes?” “No, 300.” Answered George.
“300! 300!” Screamed Cookie, as she returned to her „soup‟. “What are we going to do with 300 boxes of popcorn?!”
“Eat it of course.” Exclaimed George.
“We are not going to eat 300 boxes of popcorn in a couple of hours. Especially, as people would rather eat my delicious soup. Here try it.” Demanded Cookie. George didn‟t like the smell of the „soup‟ but liked the look on Cookie‟s face even less.
Hesitantly George took a sip of the „soup‟. Unfortunately, it tasted worse than it smelt. He forced a smile.
“I need to use the bathroom.” He said through his teeth, and then dashed towards the stairs.
The party had begun and everyone was rushing to get there. They were so excited to get to the party that two guests were going too fast and managed to fuse together when they collided.
The party was in full swing and everybody was having a great time.
There was sport. “Ouch! I‟m beginning to regret this, that ball hurt.”
There was dancing. “Beathanwhy, what are you wearing?” asked Baby. “My swimming costume, obviously.” She replied.
There was fairy watching, although George seemed to have other plans in mind than just watching them.

“And you criticized Beathanwhy for wearing a swimming costume while dancing.” Said Kam to Baby as she swam past.
Cookie had cornered Gunther who didn‟t hesitate in asking him what she wanted. “Would you like to try my soup? It‟s delicious.” They could smell the soup despite it being in the corner. “NO!” He shouted before making a hasty retreat home.
There was even guitar playing.
Unfortunately nobody tried Cookies soup. She was a bit upset but the party went well and all the sketchers went to bed feeling good.
Rattle! Rattle! Rattle!
Kam was woken up by a strange noise in her room. Hesitantly, she got out of bed and went to investigate.
“It sounds like it‟s coming from the draws.” The draw wouldn‟t open so she grabbed it with both hands and pulled with all her strength.
“AHHHHHH!!!”
What will happen? Is it a draw monster? Is it a bomb? No! It‟s a.... Hope you enjoyed seeing our hopeless group attempting a party! Be sure to read again next week, Beathanwhy
