LEVEL 1/2 PROGRESSON:-
COURSE PROFILE– LEVEL 1/2
EDUCATION - BTEC LEVEL 1/2 First Certificate in Sport - 1 year, full time
study programme
GCSE maths and English (for those learners without a C grade or level 4/5)
Functional Skills (for those learners with an E or level 3 grade or below in maths and English)
Completion of the level1/2 course will give learners the opportunity to progress onto Level 3 vocational qualifications such as BTEC Nationals, specifically the Pearson BTEC Level 3 in Sport (Outdoor Adventure). Employment within the sports and active leisure industry including junior roles working in the Outdoor industry. Learners who achieve the qualification at Level 1 may progress to related level 2 vocational or academic qualifications, such as other BTECs or GCSEs.
ENTRY REQUIRMENTS:
COURSE CONTENT, UNITS- Learners must complete the two core units, the additional mandatory unit,
and a choice of optional specialist units to reach a total of 240 guided
learning hours (GLH).

No prior knowledge, understanding or skills are necessary. There are no specific requirements for this qualification. We will however review your prior qualifications and/or experience to consider whether this shows that you have the potential to achieve this qualification. A keen interest in sport, outdoor adventure and the outdoor environment is essen-tial.
ENTRY REQUIRMENTS:-
COURSE PROFILE, UNITS– LEVEL 3 This BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) is 180 credits and has
1080 guided learning hours (GLH) across two years. It consists of seven mandatory units
plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 180 credits

This BTEC qualification has been
developed to meet employment
opportunities in the Outdoor Edu-
cation and Adventure industry. It
gives learners the opportunity to
enter employment, join an appren-
ticeship or progress to higher ed-
ucation (University). Employment
within outdoor education, sports
leadership, coaching and outdoor
adventure instructing is a com-
mon pathway for students.
LEVEL 3 PROGRESSON:-
ENTRY REQUIRMENTS:
4 GCSE’s grade C (level 4/5) or
above including maths and Eng-
lish. For those who do not
achieve a C (or level 4/5) you
may still be considered for this
course on an individual basis or
alternatively you may be suitable
for the Level 1/2 qualification.
ENRICHMENT:- During this course you will have a unique opportunity to take part in a variety of outdoor and adventure sports, activities, work experience, expeditions and trips away from home and abroad. You will also have an opportunity to play team and other indi-vidual sports.
You will learn through practical sport experience and theoretical based learning. Groups are taught through classroom lectures, practical sport, group discussions and practical application of sport. The course is assessed continuously through assignments, exam & portfolio building to meet the specific Edexcel BTEC criteria.
JOIN THE ADVENTURE
Most units are assessed through assignments which are submitted via the interactive learning platform. The level 1/2 course also has two external exams. Work is submitted via written reports, posters, practical sports, demonstrations, group tasks, interviews, practical coach-ing, presentations and work experience.
PERFORMANCE & DEVELOPMENT - Learn, work and train within a professional Outdoor Centre
environment as part of your study programme.
You will take part in numerous Outdoor & Adventurous Activ-ities alongside the academic elements of the programme.
You will be guided through your learner journey by highly qualified teachers and professional Outdoor Adventure Coaches.
You will gain experience and work towards National Govern-ing Body (NGB) awards in Outdoor Education such as:

Go Mountain Biking Proficiency Award
D of E Gold, National Navigators
RYA Level 1-2 Sailing
Powerboat Level 1
1-3 Star Awards Kayaking/Canoeing
Level 1 Coach Training
British Cycling level 2
