Chazan Jaclyn Chernett is the first woman in the UK to be ordained as a cantor, Jacky is a Jewish musicologist and educator. She received ordination in 2006 from Rabbi Dr Martin Cooper, Cantor Sol Zim and Cantor Ken Cohen at the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York. A prime mover in founding the first Masorti synagogue in the UK, she is also a founder of Kol Nefesh Masorti Synagogue, where she serves as its cantor. She is also Founder and Director of Studies of the European Academy for Jewish Liturgy (EAJL), a multilevel, multinational and multimedia training organisation for inspiring and teaching leaders of synagogue prayer. Joey Weisenberg is the Creative Director of the Mechon Hadar’s Center for Jewish Communal Music, which seeks to empower Jewish community-building through music. Joey works to educate and train communities around the world to unlock their musical and spiritual potential, and to make music a lasting and joy-filled force in shul and in Jewish life. Joey has authored Building Singing Communities, and is a multi-instrumental musician, singer, and composer. His nigunim, published in 4 CDs and a Songbook, have become popular worldwide. Joey also curates the Tefillah and Music recordings on the Mechon Hadar website, which allow people to learn melodies and nusach for most Jewish prayer services. Chazan Jalda Rebling was ordained in January 2007 from ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. A cantor and an actress, she teaches in the traditions of the Maggidim through stories and songs, specialising in Jewish music from medieval to modern times. Jalda is Founder of Ohel Hachidush, based in Berlin, Germany, a movement that endeavours to unite old tradition with modernity and renew Jewish life in Europe. She has produced ten CDs and LPs, worked for radio, TV and theatre productions, and is a well-known presence at international Jewish music festivals and international congresses. Rabbi Dr. James Jacobson-Maisels is the founder of Or HaLev: A Center for Jewish Spirituality and Meditation (http://orhalev.org/) and has been studying and teaching meditation and Jewish spirituality for over fifteen years. He received his PhD in Jewish Studies from the University of Chicago and rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Daniel Landes, the Rosh Yeshivah of Pardes. He teaches Jewish thought, mysticism, spiritual practices and meditation at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Haifa University and Yeshivat Hadar and in a variety of settings around the world. He strives to integrate his study and practice and to help teach and live Judaism as a spiritual discipline.
