The Shining

The Shining (1980) known as one of the most iconic horror movies ever to be

released, is a drama/horror which received a 8.5/10

rating on IMDB from its users. The movie

follows the main protagonist, Jack

Torrance (played by Oscar winner Jack

Nicholson) as he and his family head to an isolated hotel for the

winter. As well as Nicholson, the movie

also stars Danny Lloyd and Shelley

Duvall.

From the charts shown, we can infer that the Shining has

completely crushed the average rating of a movie on

IMDB which is 6.4 and has gotten a 8.5, earning it a spot on IMDB's top 250 movies list. Although there is a noticeable

difference between the amount of women and men

who have watched the movie, the ratings which both genres

have given the movie are almost identical.

In terms of popularity, The Shining was, and still is so highly regarded because of the director, Stanley Kubrick, who is known for movies such as A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, and many more. In addition to this, the movie is based on the popular novel holding the same name, written by best selling author, Stephen King. His loyal fan base has also played a massive role in the movies popularity and marketing.
