Once again the month passed so quickly i t seems that nothing happened. Our intrepid travellers

took on the long and arduous journey to Namibia. When they finally arrived the hardships of the journey were written all over their faces. You could see that many a beer was consumed during the trip. I sometimes wonder how their kidneys and livers survived a trip like theirs. To all the happy campers, hats off, for the commitment, planning and execution of your dream to undertake this epic journey. No doubt some serious stories, like a fish bone on the savannah, or there is a lion on my stoep, will follow.

When we arrived in Windhoek we were welcomed as if we were long lost friends. The Convention and all the functions were planned with military precision like only a German can. Well done Holger and his team.

Lion Alistair organized an excellent catering effort at the Couta Classic and I was surprised to see the effort he made to ensure a successful outcome. To all the members and Ladies who came to help I salute you. You took on an established Food Franchise

and outperformed them on all counts.

L i o n L a d y President Estelle, Lion Jeff and the team held a food collection at Harbourview Superspar on a cold and windy day. Ladies, WELL DONE your efforts are appreciated.

We are entering the final weeks to the Expo and now is the time to offer all the help and support you can give. Lion Lady Jane needs help with selling outdoor stalls and Lion Ronald needs your support. Guys, lets us all support Lion Gary with the Golf Day and make a huge success of the day. If you can help with sponsorships let's have it.

Well to start with, I do not know, with ALL that YOU do where you get the time to produce such a super Club Magazine. All I can say is “WELL DONE” once again! Your article on Burglaries brought back memories of our frightful night when we were drugged and nearly robbed by 4 teenagers, but being a light sleeper, I woke up hit the panics button and to cut a long story short we got everything back it was hidden in the sugar cane!

I have 2 things to add to your article on Moles (which won't come up on my screen again), DOGS: If you have a dog it'll probably increase the damage to your lawn by digging when it sees mole movement. But the dog can be useful. When you collect dog droppings from the lawn, put them down runways and seal the openings. The moles will move away, it works. One gardener who has used this form of control for over a year still has no mole problems – but his neighbours have! EGGSHELLS – Crushed egg shells put in every visible run on a number of occasions over two to three weeks also deters moles for some reason, probably the sharp edges of the shell are the deterrent. This method too has proved to work over quite a long period. Th only drawback to this control measure is that a large quantity of eggshells are needed. Hope this helps!I think you have 2x pg. 14 and for some reason my computer won't let me open pgs. 16 + 17! I think this is where the mole story is.

Anyhow Tinky and I will be doing some Lions good works this weekend re clothing and materials to a Mission at Mbongolwane just out of town in the hills and also for WI. We will be handing out Easter Eggs for a small school out of town for the Handicapped. Both are close to each other!

IExpo which takes place at the beautiful Port Shepstone Country Club from Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th May. The Lions and Lion Ladies of Port Shepstone have pulled out all the stops and, together with their

sponsors and helpers are looking forward to a truly spectacular weekend of great family fun. The newly revamped Expo has been quite a mammoth task for Expo Convener Lion Ronald Tarboton and his Committee with many changes to the previous format. With the newly designed, more user-friendly grounds layout, more specialised quality exhibits and more localised entertainment for all ages, the organisers are hoping to relaunch a project that will continue for many years as the premier showcase for local trade on the Hibiscus Coast. This project is run entirely by volunteers who give freely of their time and means and ALL proceeds are donated back to the Club’s various community services projects. Please support us and join the Lions and Lion Ladies for this wonderful community event. We look forward to seeing as many South Coasters as possible, you cant miss us, we will be wearing our yellow waistcoats and our smiles!

In 2002, he competed in the National Offroad Championship, and finally achieved his dream of winning the Roof of Africa. ”That year was a big one for me as I also started my Supermoto career – the best thing I've ever done,” he says.

In 2011, Brian Capper decided that he had tried all the obstacles he could do on the ground, so he decided to take up a challenge in the air. The Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban has an arch over the field that is 350m wide and 105m high (that's a long way down). Brian's goal: To bike up the 550 steps to the top and back down the 500 steps on the other side. Keeping momentum and balance on the way up and being careful not to cause the brakes to overheat on the way down, Brian accomplished this insane feat in style – being the first one in history to do so.

A ten times Champion in the disciplines of Supermoto and Trials, Brian competes in selected Enduro and EnduroX races both locally and internationally, and spends his “down-time” entertaining crowds with his gravity defying Xtreme Riding Xhibitions. “I have the best job in the world” says Brian.

Brian will perform in the main arena on Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May at the Lions Outdoor & Leisure Expo.

Lions Outdoor & Leisure Expo.

The Lions Club of Port Shepstone was the only Lions Club from District 410-C to send a delegation to the 50th Multiple District “MAD” Convention which was held in Windhoek, Namibia from 22-27 April. The

Club was represented by Lions Martin Rundle, Kevin Ross, Andre Beneke, Alastair Warman, Nico De Jong and Lion Ladies, Helen De Jong and Janet Haines.

Some of the group travelled the long distance by road, leaving at the beginning of the Easter Weekend, whilst a couple of members took advantage of the flight option. A group then travelled further up to the Caprivi Strip and back through Botswana making this an epic road trip.

District Governor Elect Martin Rundle was presented with his Governor’s Blazer by visiting International guest, Immediate Past International President Wing Kun Tam (People’s Republic of China) during the District 410-D Convention to which the Sheppie delegation and DG Heather Hardman were kindly invited.

The Convention was, by all accounts a resounding success and the hospitality (which the Namibians are famous for) was nothing short of outstanding!

Well done to all involved and a special word of appreciation to Convention Convener Holger Sircoulomb and Lion Kenlis for the huge effort that they put towards running this very successful Convention.
