The Sewing Machine Buzz By Jeff Vogel The hot weather is behind us, or will be soon. We are all back from our sewing machine conventions. Lorraine went to Atlanta for Janome’s Institute and they have released a new 13½” sewing space machine called the M7. You can fit a king-sized quilt without a struggle in this machine! It is also powerful and fast with the largest motor in the industry. Trista and I went to Baby Lock “BLT” and they released four new models. You can choose to have an embroidery only version, or a combo sewing / embroidery machine. Two of the models have built in Wi-Fi that connect to your phone for transferring pictures to the embroidery editing features in the sewing machine. What next? Voice control? At BERNINA University we learned about a new, limited special edition machine line designed by Tula Pink. The B570 and B770 Quilters Editions will have colorful features and a bundle with purchase that includes a free embroidery unit. I have already pre-sold a few of these beauties and am waiting on delivery in October. Now is a great time to get a new machine, the choices have never been better, and the prices and deals are super. I do not carry any machines made in China so that 25% import fee does not affect me. Hi Fashion’s Quilters’ Quarter Inch... by Trista Pike

Happy Fall! Cooler temperatures are welcome. We are looking forward to another year. Recently, my 4-year-old wanted to get into some snacks before dinner time and told me “Mom, you should better go sew.” I do agree, and laughed about this for days!

Julie has a new, easy Kaleidoscope Class cute as a button; Lorraine is teaching new and different techniques each month in Calendar Club; Angela continues to shower us with “new boyfriends” as she calls them, while also providing open sewing times to keep the fun going.

Baby Lock has all kinds of new things for several different sewing/embroidery levels. I am excited about finding the best features to fit your needs - more specifically to optimize your sewing time …FOR THE LOVE OF SEWING…

Lorraine is back from Janome Training and I am excited to hear all about her adventure and see what they have in store for us.

Bernina Academy is just around the corner. You know it will be good with the Quilting Cowgirl behind the program. Shout out to Heather! It is fun to see your face on the TV for Bernina Creative Webinars!

To Strip or Not to Strip? Very important question. If your sewing machine or serger is having an issue please do NOT remove the thread, needle, pressor foot, bobbin and, if possible, the fabric project. Leave the machine just like it happened when it had the problem. How many times have you taken your car to the repair shop and it does not act up? That happens every week here. So, if we can see the entire picture of the project and machine, we will give a better diagnosis and be able to fix it quicker. Also helpful is a log of the issues with information about the fabric and thread and what you did just before the event. We have even had videos sent to us taken while the machine was misbehaving.

It’s okay to strip the machine down for a normal maintenance. We need the following items to perform a proper service: The machine, standard pressor foot, zig zag stitch plate, bobbin case, foot controller, and the power cord. If we are servicing the embroidery unit, we need a large sized hoop and grid or template so we can calibrate the hoop to the machine. We do not need a needle, we put a new size 80/12 universal needle in every service we perform. Some repair shops charge extra for the new needle and supplies; those items are included in the price of your service.

Happy Sewing!
