GATHERING TOGETHER

CALL TO WORSHIP: based on Psalm 118 Imad El- imam

Leader: Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever. People: The LORD is for me, so I will not be afraid. The LORD is my helper,

so I will look to His victory. All: This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS MINUTE FOR MISSION: Blessing for Stillborns PRELUDE CONFESSING OUR FAITH: Imad El- imam

From A Brief Statement of Faith (The Book of Confessions) With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, let all glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

* GATHERING SONG: #293—This Is My Father’s World * PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Imad El- imam

Heavenly Father, your word tells us that whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. We confess that we have frequently relaxed our faith, depending on our own strength and desires and emotions, rather than on you. By doing this, our lukewarm faith has spilled over with venom and vileness toward others, doubt and discouragement in ourselves, and prayerlessness and faithlessness toward you. Forgives us for our failure to love you first, and thereby to love others as we love ourselves. In the mercy of Jesus Christ, hear us and heal us. (silent confession)

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON * GREETING ONE ANOTHER: Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you.

People: And also with you.

Elders

As there were in Old Testament times elders for the government of the people, so the New Testament church provided persons with particular gifts to share in discernment of God’s Spirit and governance of God’s people. Accordingly, congregations should elect persons of wisdom and maturity of faith, having demonstrated skills in leadership and being compassionate in spirit. Ruling elders are chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God, and to strengthen and nurture its faith and life. Ruling elders, together with teaching elders, exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation. TRINITY ELDERS will...

• Be able to spiritually lead and guide the Church

• Support and attend programs of the Church

• Support the Pastor and assist as needed

• Support the church financially and with dedication of time and talents

• Attend Session meeting regularly

• Participate in elder training when provided.

• Chair / Co- Chair – a standing committee and be members of the Personnel Committee if chairing a committee with staff reporting to it.

• Attend a Presbytery Meeting as a representative of TPC (once or twice during term)

• Continue to study and strengthen their faith journey
