The Service of the Worship of God The Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost
October 27, 2019 *(Please silence all cell phones and devices! Thank you and Welcome!)
Following the example of Jesus Christ, the First Baptist Church endeavors to walk together in faith, seeking to minister to the needs of all people by sharing the gospel of Christ through love and action.
The Prelude Mr. Justin Sturz Simple Gifts Traditional Shaker Melody/arranged by Mark Hayes
A Welcome to All Dr. Rick Bailey
*The Call to Worship Ms. Holly Sloan We are not alone; we live in God's world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God's presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God. Amen.

A thought to take with you . . If you feel a great loneliness and a deep longing for human contact, you have to be extremely discern-ing…and ask yourself whether this situation is truly God given. Because where God wants you to be, God holds you safe and gives you peace, even when there is pain. To live a disciplined life is to live in such a way that you want only to be where God is with you. The more deeply you live your spiritual life, the easier it will be to discern the difference between living with God and living without God, and the easier it will be to move away from the places where God is no longer with you. - Henri J. M. Nouwen
