• paint

• paint palette or paper plate

• water container and paint brushes

2. Brainstorm- think of moods and emotions to convey personal characteristics. List colors that convey feelings.

3. Head and face sketch - you may want to practice first. Then create a sketch of yourself. Make patterns throughout the portrait including on face and hair.

4. Painting- paint the self-portrait using paint with colors that represent mood, emotion and feelings. Use a variety of values. Ex: red to pink or black to gray to white.

5. Adding details- add details using colored pencils.
