The Departments of Biological Systems Engineering and Food Science and Human Nutrition at Washington State University invite candidates from engineering (e.g., biological, mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering) and science backgrounds (e.g., physics, chemistry, and biology) to apply for USDA National Needs Graduate Fellowships ($25,000 per year for up to three years) for PhD studies in either Engineering Sciences or Food Science. The Ph.D. fellows will research on cutting-edge processing technologies and interact with research engineers and scientists from national laboratories, government and the food industry. Please submit letter of interest to the faculty listed below. Deadlines for fall semester, 2012 have passed, but applications may still be considered for exceptional candidates. Other deadlines are as follows: October 1, 2012 for spring semester, 2013; and January 1, 2013 for fall semester, 2014. Program is restricted to US citizens and permanent residents.
