The Sanjaya Lall Prize 2010
The Board of Oxford Development Studies awards a £500 prize to honour the memory of
the late Professor Sanjaya Lall. It is awarded annually for the best article published in each
volume of the journal. In respect of Volume 38, the prize has been awarded to Hein de
Haas and Aleida van Rooij for “Migration as Emancipation? The Impact of Internal and
International Migration on the Position of Women Left Behind in Rural Morocco”.
The Sanjaya Lall Student Prize 2009–10
The Board of Oxford Development Studies awards a £1000 prize every two years for the
best article published by a student in the journal. In respect of Volumes 37 and 38, the
prize has been awarded to Alastair Smith for “Fair Trade, Diversification and Structural
Change: Towards a Broader Theoretical Framework of Analysis”.
