The strikingly beautiful bluemarlin is the largest of the Atlanticmarlins and one of the biggest fishin the world. Females, which aresignificantly larger than males, canreach 14 feet (4.3 meters) in lengthand weigh more than 1,985 pounds(900 kilograms). Average sizes tendto be in the range of 11 feet (3.4meters) and 200 to 400 pounds (91to 181 kilograms). Native to the tropical and tem-perate waters of the Atlantic, Pa-cific, and Indian Oceans, blue mar-lins are among the most recogniz-able of all fish. They are cobalt-blue on top and silvery-white be-low, with a pronounced dorsal finand a long, lethal spear-shaped up-per jaw. They are so-called blue-waterfish, spending most of their livesfar out at sea. They are also highlymigratory, and will follow warmocean currents for hundreds andeven thousands of miles.

What is a Blue Marlin? Blue marlins prefer the highertemperature of surface waters, feed-ing on mackerel and tuna, but willalso dive deep to eat squid. Theyare among the fastest fish in theocean, and use their spears to slashthrough dense schools, returning toeat their stunned and wounded vic-tims.

Known for putting up a tremen-dous fight when hooked, these raremarine monsters are the Holy Grailfor sport fishers. Their meat is con-sidered a delicacy, particularly inJapan, where it is served raw assashimi. Although not currently en-dangered, conservationists worrythat they are being unsustainablyfished, particularly in the Atlantic.

Answer: Sleep

Answer Below

“Casey, you don’t seem to be your normal, happy-go-lucky self today,” Isaid.

“Yeah,” he said. “Sometimes it all just seems to catch up with me. Youknow, you work hard and sometimes you just wonder if it is worth it all.”

“I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I’m feeling kind of down, I like tosit in the yard and have a cup of coffee and a cigarette and talk things over withJesus.”

“You do?”

“Certainly.”

“ I find that kind of hard to believe.”

“Oh, you should try it,” I told him. “It works wonders for me.”

I thought about yesterday, when after a particularly trying day, I sat in theyard and said, “Jesus, why do I work so hard?”

I heard the reply, “Men find ways to show the love for their family. Youwork hard so your children will have a better and more comfortable life.”

“I thought money was supposed to be the root of all evil,” I said. “It seemslike all I do is work harder so I can make more money.”

“That is incorrect. Money is not the root of all evil. It is the love of moneythat is the root of all evil.”

“Oh,” I said. “That is very true.”

After a pause, I said, “Let me ask you one more question that I’ve alwayswondered about. Jesus, what is the meaning of life?”

“Every man asks this question at some point in his life,” he said. “The an-swer must come from within you and the answer is different for everyone. Iwould love to talk to you some more, Señor Dennis, but right now, I have tofinish raking your yard.”
