Acts 8:8 – “so there was great joy in that city.”

• 2 Thessalonians 2:8-10 (ESV) 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

2 Timothy 3:8 (ESV) 8  Just as Jannes and Jambres

opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth,

men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding

the faith.

• Acts 19:17 – 20 - 17 The story of what happened spread quickly all through Ephesus, to Jews and Greeks alike. A solemn fear descended on the city, and the name of the Lord Jesus was greatly honored. 18 Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. 19 A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. Luke 8:15 – “but the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and

good heart who hear the word, retain it and by persevering produce a

crop.”

• Luke 8:14 – “the seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way. They are choked by lives worries, riches, and pleasures and they do not mature.”

• Luke 8: 14 - 14 The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. NASU

• Acts 8:18 – 19 – “when Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. Let me have this power, too, he exclaimed, so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit.”

“How much will it cost me? How much money will it take for you to

give me this power of yours? I mean, come on. Everyone’s got a price.

Right? I’m loaded! I’ll pay whatever you want.”

Matthew 23:28 – “outwardly you look like righteous

people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with

hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

• VS 20 – “Your heart is not right.”• VS 23 – “You are full of bitterness and captive to sin.” • Vs 21 – “you have no part or share in this ministry.”• Vs 22 - Peter told Simon “Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord.”
