Fowler Tours is bringing one of the leading Holy Land tourguides to South Africa for the second year running.
Rimon Makhlouf will have public talks on the Holy Land inJohannesburg, Springs, Cape Town and Namibia.
Many of our past pilgrims know Rimon. He has guided pil-grimages with Archbishop William Slattery, ArchbishopStephen Brislin, Fr Emil Blaser (twice), Fr Tony Nunes and FrTom Tshabalala.
Rimon, who is a Palestinian Latin-rite Catholic, will also guidethe Southern Cross pilgrimage in May with Archbishop Slattery.He used to teach in tourism at the University of Bethlehem,and serves on the board of examiners for tour guides.

During his trip to SA he will also meet with the May pilgrims inJohannesburg, and appear on Radio Veritas (594 AM in Gaut-eng, channel 180 on DStv, or stream through www.radioveri-tas.co.za) on March 23 on Fr Emil’s show at 8:30 and onKhanya Litabe’s show at 14:30.

Saturday, March 28 at 19:15 -Cape Town, Milnerton, Our Ladyof the Annunciation
On Wednesday, 25 March at 18:30 Rimon will speak on “TheChristians in the Holy Land” at Schoenstatt in Constantia,Cape Town at an event hosted by Justice & Peace Constantia.

Rimon returns to SA
Pilgrimage to Poland for St John Paul IIWe are excited to announce a special pilgrimage to Poland inhonour of St John Paul II in May 2016.
The pilgrimage will be headlined by The Southern Cross and ledby Bishop Stanislaw Dziuba, who was born in Poland andknows the country very well.
The pilgrimage will include Krakow, where St John Paul II was astudent, priest, archbishop and cardinal, and Wadowice,where he was born and which the group will visit on his birth-day!
A couple of months after our pilgrimage, World Youth Day willtake place in Krakow, so we will see in relative peace and quietwhat the youth will see in July 2016.
Other highlights include a visit to Czechstochowa, where theicon of the Black Madonna is venerated in the monastery ofJasna Gora — a place our Bishop Dziuba regards as his spiritualhome — as well as Mass in a chapel in a salt mine, a visit tothe Divine Mercy Sanctuary with St Faustina’s tomb and theoriginal Divine Mercy painting, the monastery atNiepokalanow which was founded by St Maximilian Kolbe,Kalwaria Zebrzydowska with the miraculous icon of Our Ladyof Calvary, and Zakopane, where the future pope used to lovehiking and mountain climbing, and Mass in a salt mine.
This pilgrimage, from 13-21 May 2016 promises to be verypopular. The projected price is R33,850, which includes flightsex-Jo’burg, accommodation in hotels with bed and breakfast,packed lunches, tour director, English-speaking local guides,entrance fees, travel on tour bus, insurance.

In September The SouthernCross pilgrimage to Portugal,Spain and France, led byBishop Joao Rodrigues ofTzaneen, departed with theaim of praying for the causeof the martyr BenedictDaswa.A few days after the groupreturned from the pilgrim-age, which included sitessuch as Fatima, Lourdes,Avila, Zaragoza, Tours, Lisieuxand Paris, a panel of ninetheologians met in the Vati-can to decide whether Bene-dict Daswa should berecognised as a martyr.
Daswa was akilled by amob in Tza-neen dioceseon 2 February
1990 because he refused toparticipate in a witch hunton grounds of his Catholicfaith. The theologians unani-mously agreed that he wastherefore a martyr.That the group’s prayerswere heard became clear inJanuary, when Pope Francisannounced that BenedictDaswa will be beatifiedA date for the beatification isstill to be set.
