FROM THE MANAGER’S DESK

Happy St. Patrick's Day ~ March 17th. “If a man who cannot count finds a four leaf clover is he lucky?” Stanislaw J. Lee

Dates to Remember: March 8th: Daylight savings time begins. Move your clocks ahead one hour,

longer days ahead! March 11th: Last day for lease renewals to be processed. If you haven't done

so by now there will be an extra charge for the month to month lease. March 20th: First Day of spring; what a wonderful thought after all this snow.

Let's hope it will be an early spring! March 29th: Palm Sunday

There will be some changes at Gypsum Mills Estates this month.

Morgan Management is in a sales contract with an affiliate of Horizon Land Co., LLC, for the purchase of Gypsum Mills Estates. Horizon is purchasing eleven (11) of Mor-gan Management’s New York manufactured housing communities. Horizon is an ex-perienced operator of communities who, after closing, will own thirty-three (33) commu-nities in seven (7) states. Horizon, whose sole business is owning and operating man-ufactured housing communities, has been in business since 2007. They are excited to be in New York State and plan to purchase more communities within the Upstate Re-gion, which is great news for you as residents and us as employees!

All residents of Gypsum Mills Estates will soon receive a letter from Horizon Land Man-agement LLC, Horizon’s management company and the outfit who will manage Gyp-sum Mills Estates, introducing themselves. More detailed information will follow in the middle of March. We are expecting a smooth transition for everyone to new ownership and we are looking forward to welcoming Horizon Land Management, LLC.

Just a few changes to start with:

The Office is now closed Saturdays and Sundays. Open Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

A locked rent drop box will be installed at the Gypsum Mills Office: You can start paying your rent as of April 1, 2015 at the Gypsum Mills Office. It is very im-portant that you read the following payment methods:

Gypsum Mills West Residents:

* All checks are to be Payable to Gypsum Mills West MHC, LLC. Make sure your Lot # is on the memo. Mail to Gypsum Mills Estates, 6392 Plastermill Road, Victor, NY 14564.

* If you use electronic banking through your bank please have your bank make checks payable to Gypsum Mills West MHC, LLC. Make sure your Lot # is on the memo. Mail to Gypsum Mills Estates, 6392 Plastermill Road, Victor, NY 14564.

* Credit card payments may be done through Horizon, not sure how this works. We will let you know when we know.

Discontinued methods of rent payments, see below:

► Automatic withdraw from your checking account with Morgan Management: This is no longer an optional feature. Please mail in a check to Gypsum Mills MHC, LLC, for now; Horizon is looking into this option and will update us once decision regard-ing same are made.

► Rent payment online: This is no longer an optional feature through Morgan Man-agement. Horizon does allow for online payments and information regarding will be provided in mid-March. Until then, and for any payments made after March 16, 2015, please pay rent at the lockbox being installed at the office or sent to Gypsum Mills West, LLC or Gypsum Mills MHC, LLC, as applicable: PO Box 3491, Crofton, Maryland 21114

Changes Regarding Third-Party Homes Sales & Morgan Services:

Gypsum Mills Staff will not be selling or pricing out pre-owned homes. Please con-tact a Realtor if you are thinking about selling your home. The Realtor will still have to register your home with the Office. If you are selling your home on your own, you will have to register the sale with the Office as well.

Gypsum Mills Staff will continue to sell the model homes for Royal Manufactured Home Sales and the Company Owned pre-owned homes they have in the Commu-nity.

Generally speaking, Morgan Services will not be maintaining Gypsum Mills Estates grounds, (they may continue for a short while based on a contractual relationship with Horizon). Further, Morgan Services will continue to take care of the Royal Homes we have for sale in the Community, until we sell them.

Keep in mind: "Life is simple. Everything happens for you, not to you. Everything happens at exactly

the right moment, not too soon, not too late. You don't have to like it… it is just easier if you do." ~Byron Katie

FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK ~ MARCH 2015

It is difficult to believe that we are already in the third month of 2015. Then again, it feels as though this winter has lasted for years. I know I second everyone’s emotion when I say that I am weary of the cold (the FRIGID cold) and the snow. However, rather than complain about the temperatures and the road conditions and the amount of white stuff on the ground, I am choosing to be grateful that I have a warm home to go to; that I have food and warm clothes to insulate me. I take comfort in the knowledge that Spring will in fact arrive. Sooner rather than later, I sincerely hope.

It’s time once again for our Free Rent promotion drawing. The drawing will happen at the March 5th Resident’s Meeting. Tickets can be purchased from Joan Hawes or see any board member before the March 5th Resident’s Meeting to purchase your tickets. Please note; the drawing is for one free month of lot rent only. Taxes are excluded from the promotion and will still be due for the month. GOOD LUCK!!!

It’s March which of course means it’s time for St. Patrick’s Day! March 17th is the day where those that are Irish celebrate their heritage and those who are not are allowed to pretend they are for the day. Our community will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with our St. Patrick’s Day Din-ner on Saturday, March 21st at the Community Center. In addition to the traditional corn beef & cabbage, ham will also be on this year’s menu. Tickets can be purchased from any board member for $9 per person. I look forward to seeing you there! Wear your green!

In fine Irish form….I have to put some tidbits about Ireland and all things Irish in this month’s column. We all know that St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland but he was in fact not born there. Historians believe he was actually born in Scotland or maybe England. He is credited with bringing the Christian gospels to the then warlord and druid ruled island of Ireland. All of the historical accounts of St. Patrick that I have read speak of a man who was spoken to, who had a deep calling within to bring the “good news” to the people of Ireland. Which is interest-ing considering he had been a slave in Ireland. Yet after returning home to England, he felt “called” to return and felt called by God to minister to the Irish people. Which begs the ques-tion….what was it about those ancient Irish people that drew St. Patrick, and ultimately, the very Hand of God, to their Emerald Island? I believe it is the intangible, indefinable quality of the Irish spirit. May you experience that spirit this St. Patrick’s Day~

Being Irish isn’t something you do. It’s something you are.

Being Irish means that your heart swells like a sheet on a clothesline At the sound of your ancestral brogue,

That the thought of your Da and sainted mother… Makes you weep a bit even now.

That the devil himself, try as he does, will never dim your devotion to the Trinity. If you’re truly Irish….you are possessed of a joy of spirit and a depth of soul.

You carry a smile for a stranger and coins aplenty for the poor… There’s a feistiness about you as well, but only in protecting all that you hold dear;

Faith, Family, Friends, Faith, Land….your Heritage. For if you can see a masterpiece in a sunset and a promise of harvest in a clump of dirt,

If you can claim friends who’ll buoy you up, as well as cheer you when you sail… If you can feel the loving grip of God whatever your lot in life…

Then Saints be praised…. YOU’RE

Fondly, Hugh N. Crowley, President Gypsum Mills Board of Directors

RED HATS

What a wonderful lunch we had at Otto Tomotto’s! Alice Kennedy’s daughter, Judy brought her for a surprise birth-

day party and surprised she was! She was so happy to see all of us and was absolutely beside herself. Alice turned 90 on February 27th and is going strong.

For our March 10th lunch, you will be go-ing to Mickey Finn’s. I will not be there, but will fondly be thinking of you all from Florida. Diane Corrigan will be your host-ess. Please call her at 924-5747 no later than Friday, March 6th if you plan on at-tending and have not already signed up. If you have signed up and find that you can’t make it, please call to cancel. Meet in the parking lot at 11:30 AM. See you in April! ~Karen
