Day 2: Sunday, February 25, 2018 Venice, Italy - Tour Begins Welcome

to Venice, referred to as “La

Serenissima” (the most serene) of

cities. This evening, meet your fellow

travelers over dinner at a local

Day 3: Monday, February 26, 2018 Venice Explore enchanting Venice

with 117 tiny islands surrounded by

its latticework of 150 canals and 400

bridges. Your Venetian adventure

opens in Murano Island* for a glass-

blowing demonstration. Then we

make our way to St. Mark’s Square,

the lively hub of the city's activity and

events. A local expert will guide you

on a walking tour through the area

highlighting St. Mark’s Basilica and

the Clock Tower with its famous

Moors. The remainder of the day is

Day 6: Thursday, March 1, 2018 Florence - Rome Today we journey to

Rome. This afternoon, meet a local

this fascinating city on a panoramic

tour that introduces you to the city’s

countless treasures. Conclude at the

Colosseum where your guide will take

you on a walk through the halls of this

previous home of gladiatorial combat

and wild animal fights that dates back

the city your way. Later, you’ll be

treated to a visit to Vatican City.

and St. Peter’s Basilica. The

Experience It! Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore

Standing tall among many architectural wonders of Florence towers the imposing

Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, also known as the "Duomo," the third largest

cathedral in the world. The exterior is a colorful mix of pink, white and green

marble; important artwork, statues and intricate stained glass adorn the interior.

This famous landmark, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, began construction in

1296. In the 15th century, the cathedral’s world-renowned dome was added, a

creation of architect Filippo Brunelleshci. This architectural wonder was created

without using a centering support for the masonry. This is a feat that has not been

achieved by many, particularly with one of its size. It is still the biggest dome in

the world where this technique was used. It weighs an estimated 37,000 tons and

it’s said that a staggering four million bricks were used.

Most shops and businesses in Italy are closed on Sundays and on national/religious holidays.

Florence state museums, including the Uffizi and the Academy Gallery, are closed on Mondays.

Vatican Museums are not available on Sundays.

When reserving single accommodations, be advised that single rooms in Italy are often smaller in size.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.

*On occasion, due to inclement weather, your visit to Murano Island may be substituted with a visit to a local glass factory in Venice.

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.

rests upon one of the beautiful hills surrounding Florence. Prior to dinner, enjoy an after-hours visit to this 14th-

century monastery – La Certosa.* Revel in the beauty that lurks inside and experience the monastery’s magnificence

as you learn about monastic daily life. Then, your evening of fun continues at one of the area’s most popular dining

Venetian Serenaded Gondola Cruise $75 USD

Experience the romance that can only be found in Venice – La Serenìssima – while traveling on its famous

waterways, when you partake in one of Venice’s most famous pastimes – a gondola cruise. Take a pleasant stroll

toward the Grand Canal to board your gondola. As you relax in your elegant watercraft, your gondolier navigates the

Grand Canal as well as smaller side canals. Admire the scenery as you listen to the melodic voice serenading you in

true Italian style – just like in those romantic Italian movies! This option operates weather permitting. Duration of
