FROM FR. RAY…

Today we honor all mothers for the great sacrifice they embraced to bring us to birth and the many subsequent sacrifices they made helping to raise us in a loving fami-ly. Parenthood is a vocation, a sacred calling by God to be cocreators with God and to manifest His divine love for His children. A special thanks to all who embrace this vocation for the purpose of giving glory to God by seeking to do His will for their salvation and the souls of our children. All are invited to attend the 11:00 a.m. Mass next Sun-day in support of 8 children from our parishes who will be receiving their First Holy Communion. It is with our heartfelt gratitude, that I announce that after many years of service, our Director of Religious Education (DRE), Judy King, will be retiring. Judy has supported our parish families with her caring and under-standing. Her professionalism and hard work has crafted a Religious Education program that has assisted our par-ish children and families in growing in their Catholic faith. Judy will be missed by our catechists, volunteers, students, families and by me! We wish Judy well in her retirement. With that said, I am seeking a part time Director of Re-ligious Education (DRE) for our parish communities. The DRE will be responsible for organizing and adminis-tering the Catechetical programs for the young of our parishes, including preparation of children for First Com-munion and RCIA adapted for children. Qualifications for the position: college degree (preferred), good office and computer skills, ability to work with and motivate others, be a practicing Catholic, experience in catechesis and a good knowledge of the Catholic faith. Anyone in-terested in this position is asked to contact me.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA STATUE & PRAYER

Thank you to all who took time out of their busy schedule to come and pray in front of the statue of Our Lady of Fati-ma this past week at St. Mary’s. This week St. Au-gustine’s will be honored with the presence of Our Lady of Fatima’s Statue (May 14th to May 20th). The Our Lady of Fatima statue reminds us of the Blessed Mother’s appear-ance to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. A beautiful reminder to live the Fatima message and to let this statue inspire us to draw near to Our Lord through Our Lady; to answer God's call of prayer and pen-ance through the voice of Mary. It is important to note that while this Statue is present in our churches, a Rosary needs to be recited in the church each day. Signup sheets are available at the entrance of our churches for individuals (or groups) to sign up. This Statue is made from the wood of a tree which was located at the Fatima site in Portugal and is a sight to behold. It is an honor and privilege for both parishes to participate in the Glorification of Our Lady of Fatima through the daily recitation of Her Most Holy Ro-sary during the Statue’s presence. Thank you in advance for your active participation. Many blessings are given each day to those individuals who participate in the daily recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. Our Lady of Fatima pray for us.

LIVE THE LITURGY

We are called to be missionaries. Jesus said to his disci-ples: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature." Proclaiming the Gospel means looking out at my brothers and sisters and choosing to walk with them on their journey of life. It means having a listening, loving presence that allows the Holy Spirit to work in and through us. In this way we can show them not only in speech, but in action the difference a relationship with God and a life of faith really makes. Even though Jesus has ascended to the Father, he still remains with us helping us proclaim the mission of the Gospel. Are we willing to allow him to do so?
